Aroostook Adventure: Ski the County

  • Arndt's Aroostook Homestead 95 Parkhurst Siding Road Presque Isle, ME, 04769 United States (map)

Join MYA on a fab weekend to Aroostook County in northern Maine! We’ll ski two ways, cross-country & downhill, enjoy snowshoeing, snowga, yummy food eating, and more…

Adventurers will lodge together in their own quaint homestead on a lovely property set along the banks of the Aroostook River. Think of it as the sweetest goodbye to wintertime with a snow-filled fun-packed weekend!

We’ll begin our adventure gathering at the homestead at Arndt's Aroostook River Lodge & Campground in Presque Isle. Arrival time is flexible - if you want to get outside and explore the trails with your snowshoes, come early! If you want to get outside and cross-country ski, come early! If you can’t slip away until later, no worries, we’ll have plenty of fun and food in the evening :)

The homestead was built in 1889 and allows adventurers plenty of space to spread out into with five lovely bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and dining room to share. Of course MYA will be using the kitchen space to whip up tasty vegetarian dinners and breakfasts. Lunches will be open to adventurers and most likely up to where our adventures take us either in town or on the slopes or at the homestead. Leftovers are usually an option too!

Saturday and Sunday will be snowga and ski fundays! No worries about snowga, it’s just yoga in the snow, experience is never a necessity. A sense of humor is always best for yoga outdoors as well as snowpants that are on the looser side!

For our skiing pleasure, Big Rock Mountain in Mars Hill is less than a half hour drive and the Nordic Heritage Center is only 5 minutes away. MYA is happy to cover lift tickets for adventurers that are into downhill skiing but please know if you’d like to adventure without going downhill, that’s no problem, snowshoeing, snow sculpturing, cross-country skiing, small town shopping, and homestead chillaxin’ are always available.

If you have your own skis and snowshoes, bring them along and if you want to try out your fat or plus tire bikes on the trails, that’s an another fun option for snow play!

Say goodbye to winter with a community of adventurers having fun in the snow! Join us for skiing, snowshoeing, snowga, yummy vegetarian food, sweet accommodations and much more…
