Art, Broadway Dance & Wine Yoga Adventure

Come spend a spectacular Saturday with MYA in downtown Bangor. We’ll visit the local art museum, enjoy a broadway dance workshop, a wine yoga sesh, yummy vegetarian food, and a sweet riverside stroll…

The adventure begins at the Penobscot River park on the Bangor side with movement introductions and a stroll that’ll end us up at the Zillman Art Museum, Maine’s modern & contemporary art museum. A cultural resource of the state and the University of Maine, promotes an understanding of, and engagement with, visual art through its diverse contemporary exhibitions, permanent collection focusing on works of art since 1945, and educational programming.

MYA will soak in a tour of the current exhibitions. featuring the work of Richard Wilson and two exhibitions of selected works from the permanent collection; Thought Made Visible mostly Conceptual and Minimalistic artwork and Frost & Bloom, artwork that reflects Winter and Spring. Upstairs we will visit the Marin Family Collection and selected paintings from the Zillman's collection.

Then, a broadway dance workshop at Eye Candy! Christine Mihan, dancer, yogi, owner of Bangor Wine & Cheese, will lead us through moves that all adventurers can handle. Broadway Dance Workshop Are you a fan of Fosse? Have you always dreamed of being a Rockette? Or perhaps Nathan Lane is your hero? Then this adventure is for you! We’ll learn the basics of Broadway dance style (jazz hands, anyone?), develop an understanding of formations, and even learn a kick-less kick line (don’t worry, old hammies)! No prior dance experience necessary, just bring along your sense of adventure and your sense of humor.

We’ll all need a lovely dose of Wine Yoga afterwards! Sip on Amy Whitmore’s fabulous homemade wine (no yukky additives) and get in some much needed stretching, laughing, and relaxing. Amy, an avid world traveler, is a 300 hour hatha, vinyasa, restorative, and yin yoga certified instructor with years of dance & fitness experience.

Absolutely no yoga experience is required, have no fear. Amy’s class is regularly scheduled at Eye Candy on Tuesday evenings at 7pm and we always have a great time; after you try this class, you’ll be addicted!

Of course we’ll close out the adventure with delicious vegetarian food served up by MYA :)

Art, dancing, wine, yoga, yummy food, and wicked positive vibes, an all around awesome Saturyay in Bangor you won’t want to miss.
