Join MYA on another partnership with AEA (Academic Experiences Abroad) to spectacular El Salvador! Adventurers will take in the culture, the history, the architecture, along with surfing, hot springs, hiking, and yoga practices that are designed for anyone/everyone.

Our first day we arrive at El Salvador International Airport, meet our guide and head to our boutique hotel in the historic centre of San Salvador. Time to settle in, rest, and begin taking in the rhythm of the city. We’ll stretch it out with evening yoga and adventurers will enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel.

Day two starts off with yoga, a delicious breakfast, and a guided walking tour exploring San Salvador Historic Center. Then, it’s onto the coast! In Santa Ana City we’ll visit the cathedral and a theatre, architectural marvels. A local restaurant will be perfect for lunch. The group will visit the site of Tazumal, one of the most significant Maya-Pipil archaeological sites in El Salvador. Dinner will be up to adventurers with excellent local choices. We’ll overnight in a lovely boutique property in the highland town of Ataco.

Our third day will be epic! We’ll explore the traditional towns along the famous Ruta de las Flores including Nahuizalco (known for its indigenous heritage and crafts) and Juayúa Group. We’ll lunch at local restaurant and get in some sweet hiking then onto the real goodness, Santa Teresa Hot Springs! Adventurers will get in an afternoon of soaking in natural volcanic thermal pools set in tropical gardens. Dinner will be up to adventurers and our stay will be at a fab mountain lodge in Cerro Verde National Park.

We’ll begin day four with yoga and breakfast then a guided tour of a traditional Salvadoran coffee farm tracing the full journey from harvest to cup. Also Coatepeque Lake, one of El Salvador's most iconic natural landmarks. Adventurer’s lunch will be at a lakeside restaurant while taking in the crystal waters. A Pupusa, hands-on cooking session with local experts is next; making El Salvador's national dish using traditional techniques and fresh ingredients. Our lunch includes the prepared pupusas. Dinner will be up to adventurers and we’ll stay another eve in the mountain lodge.

Following breakfast on day five, we’ll head out to Cerro Verde National Park with a guided hike to Santa Ana Volcano (Ilamatepec), the highest volcano in El Salvador, with panoramic views of surrounding peaks and a dramatic turquoise crater lake at the summit. Can’t wait! El Tunco Beach with a yoga session is next with volcanic views. Steps from the beach, adventurers can decide where to have a delightful dinner. We’ll overnight at La Libertad coast, a beachfront resort in the laid-back El Zonte surf community.

Post breakfast on day six is a guided hike to Tamanique Waterfalls through lush tropical forest trails near the Pacific coast leading to a series of natural waterfalls and swimming pools which everyone can partake in. We’ll lunch locally upon return to the resort and after digesting, it’s yoga time with an ocean view. Dinner will be up to adventurers with another eve at the resort.

Day seven starts with beach yoga and breakfast. This is a day of leisure with terrific activity options like surf lessons, swimming, or snorkeling; massage, hammock time, or poolside relaxation; horseback riding; free wandering in El Zonte. Our celebratory farewell dinner will be at Pargos Restaurant. Our last night will be at the beachfront resort.

We’ll close our adventure with yoga/medition and breakfast at the hotel. Adventurers will head back to El Salvador International Airport. Airfare is not included in this program, flight details and departure times are TBD.
