10 Year Anniversary Adventure

Get outside with MYA and celebrate ten years of adventuring! Oh the places we’ve been, so grateful!

Our group will gather up at Brownie’s Beach in Orono at the intersection of Bennoch & Noyes Rd and put our fav watercraft (kayak, canoe, paddleboard) into the Stillwater River for a lazy paddle. As we make our way, we’ll get in a yoga practice by propping our watercraft to the side and jumping on land. If we all have paddleboards (MYA has a couple extra) we can try yoga poses as we coast along. It’s more fun if you fall in! Beginners welcome!

After playing in the river, adventurers will head over to a private residence down the street for yummy vegetarian food & drink. If you can’t make the paddle portion but want to join us at the house you’re more than welcome. Let’s celebrate!

In honor of ten years, pay as you wish.

Thanks to everyone for your continual support, you are appreciated. Here’s to bringing community together, getting outside, connecting, moving, and bursting with positive energy…

Arizona Adventure: Hiking & Vibing

Join MYA for eight days of fabulous hiking & hot tubbing in Sedona, ghosting in Jerome, exploring Scottsdale, eating delicious vegetarian cuisine, yogifying, and so much more!

The adventure starts in Phoenix at the desert botanical garden stretching and strolling. Then we’ll head to Sedona, a sacred and powerful place where one can experience the mysterious cosmic forces that are said to emanate from the red rocks. It truly is a spectacular place.

We’ll be perfectly situated for five nights in a quiet Sedona neighborhood. Our comfy lux abode has wonderful access to hiking trails such as Sugarloaf Mtn and Tea Cup Trail. The Amitabha Stupa Peace Park is a close by gem for wandering and meditating. We’re a short drive from Doe Mtn, Devil’s Bridge, and Cathedral Rock.

When we're not out exploring, we’ll be enjoying the stunning views from the hot tub, swimming pool, outdoor firepit, and multiple lounge areas in the home. There’s a wonderful kitchen for Sarah, our cook to work her magic in!

There are three bedrooms with one queen bed, two king beds, two twin beds, and sofa beds for overflow (for Holly, founder of MYA!).

Not far from our home is Jerome, a super cool mining town, where if adventurers are up for it, we can book a ghost tour. The range in cost is about $50-$100, Holly is game if you are! No matter what, we will check out the once “wickedest town in the west” that is chock full of galleries and wineries.

We’ll still have time for more hiking, the iconic West Fork of Oak Creek, part of the Coconino National Forest is on the list. It is composed of a unique ecosystem that gives it its captivating allure. There are more hikes that MYA didn’t get to last year that we can decide upon as a group.

After Sedona’s enchanting vibe and the special healing qualities of it’s vortex energy, we’ll travel to Scottsdale to spend time in the old town and yes, more hiking. Adventurers will have an opportunity for volunteer work at a local animal shelter, more details on that as we get closer.

Our two night stay in Scottsdale is a high glam style albeit comfortable home. The backyard is part of a quiet neighborhood corner, quarter acre lot which is a rare gem in Old Town. We’ll have four bedrooms with six beds and three bathrooms.

French patio doors will welcome you to a yard with wonderful views of the Papago Peaks in the distance. For kicks, we’ve got a two hole putting green, ping pong, a fire pit & yard games. And yes, of course we have a hot tub and a pool.

Our drive to the airport on our final day is not far, we’ll soak up as much goodness as we can before our goodbye.

Throughout the adventure, MYA will offer up a morning yoga and an extra nighttime practice isn’t out of the realm of possibility. All vegetarian breakfasts and dinners with the exception of one night in Sedona and our last eve in Scottsdale are covered. Lunches will be up to adventurers and our daily out & about schedule will help inform if we need to pack ourselves a picnic or stop in town.

Don’t miss out on this epic adventure to Arizona packed full of amazing hikes, yoga flows, healthy vegetarian food, positive vibes, and views, views, views!

Cost: $2400/twin; $2800/solo king or queen

Croatia Adventure: Absorbing Beauty & Culture

  • Dubrovnik Croatia (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join MYA for a wondrous adventure to Croatia! We’ll breathe in stunning landscapes, play in the water, hike, soak in island vibes, yogify in the perfect outdoor climate, and eat delicious fresh farm to table vegetarian food.

We’ll begin with the walled-in historic city of Dubrovnik to stroll tiny streets and hike to outstanding views. Buza Beach is just a few steps away and Orlando Column is a 3-minute walk, Dubrovnik Cathedral lies nearby, and Pile Gate, one of the entrances to the old city, is close to the apartment. An option is to ferry to a nearby island and swim in the salt bay and take the trail that winds around the island. The evenings become a nice time to explore as things slow down & quiet.

Adventurers will have an apartment in the old city, the presidential suite with sea views. We’ll have three bedrooms and three bathrooms, king beds and sofa beds are our options. There’s a terrace, a private beach, and an a la carte breakfast to take advantage of. We’ll spend one night then close out our adventure here as well.

Our next stop is the gorgeous island of Korcula. The old town is divine for strolling & sightseeing and grabbing up a gelato! It is island time; we’ll take things slow and easy. Adventurers will have a delicious homemade meal in town at a local restaurant that specializes in what is fresh for the day. This is a meal that will be covered by adventurers as some may want to partake in the meats :)

Our stay for three nights is across from the harbor in quaint rooms with sweet views and lots of areas to relax in. We'll have rooms with two queen beds each and two sofa beds (they’re really cozy!). The breakfast is outstanding!

There is a dedicated space for our outdoor yoga practice with mats readily available. Adventurers will have an opportunity to take a kayak tour, highly recommended but optional.

Our second island to explore is resplendent Hvar for a two night stay, the Mediterranean dream with rustic cobblestone streets and pristine turquoise waters. Adventurers will stay in the city center on the harbor with views of the water and St. Stephen's Square with the City Fortress visible on the hillside.

We’ll have a studio apartment for one or two and another apartment with room for four or five, both comfortable and quiet. Lovely beaches are just a five minute walk away as well as many historic gems. Please know that there are three stories of stairs to climb up, pack light my friends.

There are serious slices of heaven not far from our harbor, quiet coves & beaches and hiking trails. Lavender fields, vineyards, olive groves, and small villages will greet us if we decide to travel out from the city.

On Tuesday, we’ll ferry back to Dubrovnik for our last evening together, soaking in the final bits of goodness.

Don’t miss out on a fabulous adventure to Croatia! MYA will offer up four vegetarian dinners and all breakfasts, a daily yoga practice (perhaps a second round in the evening), ferry transports from Dubrovnik to Korcula to Hvar and back again, and lots of good vibes & positive energy.

Cost $2400 twin/sofa bed; $2800 solo king/queen

Pay in full or pay a $1500 deposit with the remainder due on Feb 12th. If two people would like to share a king or queen please reach out to Holly for a rate, thanks!

Montreal Adventure

One sofa bed left!

Spend a long weekend with MYA in super cool Montreal, Canada! We’ll be staying at fabulous apartments in the heart of the old city, zipping about town via the metro & bikes, hiking Mount Royal, strolling the markets, visiting the Botanical Garden, trying out circus arts, enjoying yoga outside, eating lots of yummy food and more…

We’ll have a flexible arrival time meeting up at the hotel to settle into our rooms; two bedroom apartments and a suite. Adventurers can share a queen bed or have one solo or choose a sofa bed. We’ll eat a vegetarian dinner prepared by our wicked talented MYA chef MJ. Then we’ll hit Old Montreal with narrow cobblestone streets full of lively plazas, charming shops, and cafes. A ghost tour is on the list but it’s optional if not every adventurer is comfortable with spirits :)

Adventurers will enjoy a tasty breakfast provided by MYA then head out to hike Mount Royal, an extinct volcano. We’ll go early to avoid the heat. The park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the designer behind New York's Central Park. There’s an easy five mile loop to enjoy with a wide range of flora and fauna. We’ll visit the Chalet, the Beaver Lake Pavilion and perhaps stop at the Café des Amis for a bite to eat.

Post-hike we’ll find out what the local culinary culture is all about at the Jean-Talon Market located in the heart of Little Italy. In addition to fruits and vegetables, the market has flower stalls, spice shops, cheese, a chocolate shop, an ice cream parlor, an Italian specialty store, pastry stores etc. MYA will pick up seasonal ingredients and unique specialties for dinnertime.

Saturday in the late afternoon we’ll have a date with Chateau de Circue, an old cinema converted into a circus school. Two hours of playtime on a flying trapeze and with other fun circus elements such as the hoop and acro yoga as well! It’s safety first at Montreal’s best spot for learning to fly. Your needs can be accommodated, not great with heights, play with props in a well grounded situation. No experience necessary; if you’d rather opt out, no worries.

On Sunday adventurers will hop on bikes and take the Lachine Canal path along a boat canal, past the Atwater Market, and all the way to the Musée plein air de Lachine in the west, a beautiful sculpture garden on the river. Adventurers can choose to continue on a bike path through LaSalle and Verdun, along the St. Lawrence waterfront cycling path, stopping at a nature sanctuary and watching river surfers along the way.

There are beaches in Montreal that we may like to check out and dip our toes in to cool off. The Clock Tower Beach is in our neighborhood.

Post-bicycling, adventurers will get a chance to check out the Biosphere, the only environment museum in North America with a mission to raise awareness and encourage environmental action. Close by is the world renowned botanical garden - the gardens will be a perfect place to enjoy nature and an outdoor yoga flow. Yoga throughout the adventure is for everyone, beginners & beyond.

Adventurers can take in the glorious Notre-Dame Basilica, a soaring Gothic Revival church, and perhaps the Pointe-à-Callière museum with city archeological ruins as well.

Please know that our schedule during the weekend is flexible and subject to change. As a group we can arrange for more or less to happen. Montreal has a lively underground, axe throwing, ziplining, stand up paddleboarding, and night life. Holly, founder of MYA, would like to squeeze in a thermal spa experience and there are a few options right in our neighborhood such as Scandinave Spa and Bota Bota. Strom Spa is a fabulous option as well. If adventurers have time on Monday before traveling and if we haven’t gotten to something that your heart was yearning for, there are opportunities for more fun!

Please know that Holly’s son Augi, 16 yrs old, will be adventuring with us. If you’d like to bring along a family adventurer, perfect, just let Holly know and we’ll figure out options.

Don’t miss out on stirring up your wonder and curiosity as we explore the amazing Canadian city of Montreal as we wish happy independence day to the US from afar!

The cost includes three nights of accommodations, breakfasts & dinners, hiking, circus class (optional), yoga sessions, positive vibes

Cost: $1200/shared queen bed (total cost for two adventurers/$600 each); $900/solo queen; $700/sofa bed (sale $500)

Acadia Hike & Picnic Adventure II

Whoa, rescheduled again! See y’all Sunday! And, we’re switching it up we’ll be on the great head trail first have our picnic and then head over to Gorham Mountain - thanks!

If you don’t go to camp, join MYA for an amazing hiking and picnicking day in Acadia! Adventurers will head out on the beautiful Gorham Mountain Loop, pause for a yummy picnic on the beach then head over to coastal Great Head Trail for an under two miler getting in plenty of yoga along the way…

Adventurers will meet up at Sand Beach and head over to the Gorham Mountain Trail for a 3.5 loop trail with amazing views and plenty of spots for yoga. This is a hike with some rocky terrain, we’ll take our time through any rough patches. After our way down from the stunning summit, we’ll stroll the Ocean Path to get us back to the beach.

MYA will offer up a gourmet vegetarian picnic to nourish minds, bodies & spirits. We’ll all relax, lounge in the sand, and soak in the views. Maybe play around with our cartwheels and handstands in the forgiving sand. After we’ve all had time to properly digest, we’ll head over to the Great Head Trail.

The 1.4 mile Great Head Trail is rated as moderate and winds around the perimeter of the small peninsula. The hike begins with some incline, slowly we go when it’s steep, but then the trail levels out. Pink granite cliffs will reveal themselves and we’ll keep our eyes open for views of Beehive off in the distance. There are perfect spots along this hike to simply sit and breath it all in.

If adventurers are simply done after the picnic, no worries, this second hike is optional!

Don’t miss out on a wonderful opportunity in Acadia to get outside and hike, connect with nature, eat yummy food, and spend quality time with fellow adventure enthusiasts!

Acadia Hike & Picnic Adventure

Join MYA for terrific hiking on the quiet side of Acadia National Park. We’ll set off on Beech Mountain Trail taking in a 1.2 mile loop, getting in sporadic yoga & meditation practices along the way. Afterwards adventurers will enjoy a gourmet vegetarian picnic at Echo Lake. Then we’ll get in the Beech Cliff Trail to round out our adventure.

Beech Mountain Trail has a short and slightly strenuous up but it is not too rough as it takes us directly to the summit under the majestic old Beech Mountain fire tower. We can walk up the first set of steps to take in views for days, the far off majesty of Sargent Mountain and Acadia Mountain a bit closer. To complete the loop we’ll take the West Ridge Trail along the cliffs that offer the beauty of Long Pond.

Next up is picnic time at Echo Lake where MYA will unpack some fabulous vegetarian eats to nourish our minds, bodies & spirits. We’ll all relax, lounge in the sand, and soak in the views. Maybe play around with our cartwheels and handstands in the forgiving sand.

Adventurers can walk moments away from the sand and sparkling water to hike Beech Cliff Trail, 1.4 miles, about an hour in length with a few sets of iron ladders towards the beginning. The views are absolutely incredible at quite a few spots along the way including the short loop around the top. This is also a great trail for yoga!

The good news is that this adventure is placed within shoulder season; let’s go support Acadia National Park before the tourists do :)

Don’t miss out on a wonderful opportunity in Acadia to get outside and hike, connect with nature, eat yummy food, and spend quality time with fellow adventure enthusiasts!

Vegetarian Charcuterie & Chai Tea Adventure

Vegetarian Charcuterie & Chai Tea Adventure

Join MYA for a very tasty collaboration of local small businesses in Brewer, Maine. Adventurers will create their own vegetarian boards with Downtown Charcuterie, enjoy the riverwalk with yoga flows, and then visit Tiller & Rye to make chai tea. A spring feast for the senses!

First up, we’ll meet at Downtown Charcuterie right over the bridge from Bangor. A fabulous women-owned small business; they make personalized charcuterie boards, boxes, cups and grazing tables for events of any size, catering to the whole state of Maine. They will give us all the ingredients, supplies, and creative freedom to create our own charcuterie boards. These will be spring inspired eight inch boards full of all the yumminess that your heart & soul desires. Adventurers can snack on some of the food there but still have plenty to bring home.

Afterwards we’ll spend time outdoors on the riverfront walk, a lovely path along the Penobscot River. Some flowers may be popping up if we don’t get a late snowstorm. This will be a slow stroll taking our time to digest and to mix in a few yoga flows at different points on the walk.

Next up is a visit to local natural grocer Tiller & Rye, another terrific women-owned business which features fresh produce, cheeses, dietary alternatives, bulk spices and grains, fresh baked breads, craft beers and organic wines. Adventurers will gather for a class on making traditional Indian chai from scratch using medicinal spices from the bulk section. This heartwarming and delicious tea has numerous benefits for your body and soul.

Sec will not only take you through the tea making process but also provide herbal knowledge of the ingredients used. Adventurers can bring home their own batch to enjoy. There will be time afterwards to peruse the store and purchase some of their unique goodness if you like.

Don’t miss out on an opportunity to support your local small businesses! We’ll have a wonder filled adventure with plenty of food & drink inspiration as well as fresh air & movement.

Cost: $75 Payment is accepted via Venmo @maineyogaadventures_ or please use the credit card method below.

Alpacas, Ramble & Wine Write Adventure

Alpacas, Ramble & Wine Write Adventure

Join MYA in Unity, Maine where we’ll visit an alpaca farm, stroll through a beautiful land trust property, and have a tasting & writing session at Stone Tree Farm & Cidery. Cheryl Daigle will be our co-host leaning into her naturalist and artful composition expertise.

The adventure begins at the Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm, Maine Alpaca Experience where adventurers will get a tour of the farm and an opportunity to meet the cute, furry alpacas. Afterwards we’ll have time to shop in the alpaca gift shop with the most amazing clothing, gifts, and yarn. We can be sure to offer up a donation or make a purchase to support them.

With lots of warm fuzzies from the farm, we’ll head out to the Richardson Memorial Preserve for a walk through a variety of field and woodland habitats including a lovely stretch along Sandy Stream. The 116-acre property is the summer home to grassland birds such as Bobolinks and Savannah Sparrow - we will learn how land is managed for these and other migratory birds and listen for early migrants. Cheryl will be leading the stroll adding in details of the natural world as we pass by and Holly will find pauses to move our bodies, breathe, and meditate. There could be snow but maybe not, either way all are sure to enjoy. If you’d like to make a donation to the land trust to support their work, this day would be a great opportunity.

Cheryl is the executive director of the Sebasticook Regional Land Trust. She was the editor of Northern Woodlands magazine and an editorial assistant for Orion magazine. Her writing has appeared in regional literary and conservation publications throughout New England. She enjoys exploring the natural wonders of Maine whenever she can get away from the computer and started nature journaling when she was a child.

After our stroll the next stop will be Stone Tree Farm & Cidery established by Brian Erickson and Frank Haferland. Frank has a background in Geology and Brian has a background in Forestry which brought about the name of this wonderful establishment. With a love of wine and cider they pursued their dream of starting and operating their own establishment. Together, a perfect pairing.

At the farm, we’ll be in the new red barn, super exciting! MYA will bring along yummy vegetarian food to share. Cheryl will guide us through some writing prompts that adventurers can work on and can share with the group if they like. All can have a tasting of their choice and settle in to create prose and listen to storytelling with absolutely no judgement. No writing or yoga experience is necessary to join in this Sundayfunday.

Don’t miss out on a super layered, wonder filled adventure in Unity! We’ll get in a sweet alpaca visit, a guided stroll on a beautiful land trust property, a wine/cider tasting, yummy vegetarian food, and an opportunity to express ourselves thru writing and sharing.

Cost: $50
