Join Maine Yoga Adventures on a fourth fabulous playtime in the snow with Maine Huts & Trails!
MYA is always happy to support this nonprofit organization whose mission is to create and operate a world-class system of backcountry trails and eco-lodges for people-powered recreation for the benefit of current and future generations.
We loved it so much that we’re heading back to last season’s beautiful Flagstaff Hut situated on the dramatic stretch of Flagstaff Lake (once a town now a waterway).
The adventure begins on a groomed wooded trail that leads us for about two miles on gentle inclines and declines to the hut. Adventurers can choose to either cross-country ski, fat bike, or snowshoe. Often the conditions on the trails can tell us which transportation system will work best :)
Some of us will take it slow (no fear beginners!) others may enjoy a brisker pace. Lisa Carter with wilderness first aid & plenty of outdoor experience will be our co-leader, helping out adventurers along the way. All are responsible for backpacking their own gear in - pack light.
Once at the hut, we’ll unload gear and head back out for more skiing and/or snowshoeing. We'll also practice some snowga (yoga in the snow) - fun!
After playtime in the snow, we’ll warm up in front of the fire inside the stunning Flagstaff Hut. The hut offers up fantastic vegetarian food (dinner, breakfast and lunch)! Adventurers are welcome to bring cash for wine and beer. In the morning we’ll sneak in another yoga practice then head back out to enjoy the lake and the trails taking our time leaving this very magical site.
