Montreal Adventure

Spend a long weekend with MYA in super cool Montreal, Canada! We’ll be staying at fabulous apartments in the heart of the old city, zipping about town via the metro & bikes, hiking Mount Royal, strolling the markets, visiting the Botanical Garden, trying out circus arts, enjoying yoga outside, eating lots of yummy food and more…

We’ll have a flexible arrival time meeting up at the hotel to settle into our rooms; two bedroom apartments and a suite. Adventurers can share a queen bed or have one solo or choose a sofa bed. We’ll eat a vegetarian dinner prepared by our wicked talented MYA chef MJ. Then we’ll hit Old Montreal with narrow cobblestone streets full of lively plazas, charming shops, and cafes. A ghost tour is on the list but it’s optional if not every adventurer is comfortable with spirits :)

Adventurers will enjoy a tasty breakfast provided by MYA then head out to hike Mount Royal, an extinct volcano. We’ll go early to avoid the heat. The park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the designer behind New York's Central Park. There’s an easy five mile loop to enjoy with a wide range of flora and fauna. We’ll visit the Chalet, the Beaver Lake Pavilion and perhaps stop at the Café des Amis for a bite to eat.

Post-hike we’ll find out what the local culinary culture is all about at the Jean-Talon Market located in the heart of Little Italy. In addition to fruits and vegetables, the market has flower stalls, spice shops, cheese, a chocolate shop, an ice cream parlor, an Italian specialty store, pastry stores etc. MYA will pick up seasonal ingredients and unique specialties for dinnertime.

Saturday in the late afternoon we’ll have a date with Chateau de Circue, an old cinema converted into a circus school. Two hours of playtime on a flying trapeze and with other fun circus elements such as the hoop and acro yoga as well! It’s safety first at Montreal’s best spot for learning to fly. Your needs can be accommodated, not great with heights, play with props in a well grounded situation. No experience necessary; if you’d rather opt out, no worries.

On Sunday adventurers will hop on bikes and take the Lachine Canal path along a boat canal, past the Atwater Market, and all the way to the Musée plein air de Lachine in the west, a beautiful sculpture garden on the river. Adventurers can choose to continue on a bike path through LaSalle and Verdun, along the St. Lawrence waterfront cycling path, stopping at a nature sanctuary and watching river surfers along the way.

There are beaches in Montreal that we may like to check out and dip our toes in to cool off. The Clock Tower Beach is in our neighborhood.

Post-bicycling, adventurers will get a chance to check out the Biosphere, the only environment museum in North America with a mission to raise awareness and encourage environmental action. Close by is the world renowned botanical garden - the gardens will be a perfect place to enjoy nature and an outdoor yoga flow. Yoga throughout the adventure is for everyone, beginners & beyond.

Adventurers can take in the glorious Notre-Dame Basilica, a soaring Gothic Revival church, and perhaps the Pointe-à-Callière museum with city archeological ruins as well.

Please know that our schedule during the weekend is flexible and subject to change. As a group we can arrange for more or less to happen. Montreal has a lively underground, axe throwing, ziplining, stand up paddleboarding, and night life. Holly, founder of MYA, would like to squeeze in a thermal spa experience and there are a few options right in our neighborhood such as Scandinave Spa and Bota Bota. Strom Spa is a fabulous option as well. If adventurers have time on Monday before traveling and if we haven’t gotten to something that your heart was yearning for, there are opportunities for more fun!

Please know that Holly’s son Augi, 16 yrs old, will be adventuring with us. If you’d like to bring along a family adventurer, perfect, just let Holly know and we’ll figure out options.

Don’t miss out on stirring up your wonder and curiosity as we explore the amazing Canadian city of Montreal as we wish happy independence day to the US from afar!
