Hiking & Picnicking: Mount Chase Adventure

Don’t miss out on a super fab Sundayfunday! MYA is taking on the gorgeous waterfall trail to the summit of Mount Chase and enjoying a gourmet vegetarian picnic post hike. Yoga will happen spontaneously throughout the adventure :)

The adventure begins at the Mount Chase waterfall trailhead, adventurers will be carpooling and making sure that no one gets lost along the way. We’ll get in some yoga to get us ready for the hike which can be steep and scrambly in sections; please know that this hike can be strenuous but adventurers will be taking their time breathing in the beauty.

The 1.7-mile trail (one way) begins at the intersection of Mountain Road and the Shin Pond ATV trail. MYA is opting for the waterfall trail which will link to the mountain trail and Eagle’s Point is an offshoot trail to another pretty view that we can decide to take in the moment (weather & energy levels to consider). Just know that the hike will be under 5 miles. No matter what, the views are spectacular up top with Katahdin & fellow mountains in the distance.

Mount Chase was the site of a fire tower for many years; two towers have been built on the summit. The first built in 1909 was a wooden structure then replaced with a sixteen-foot steel tower that was removed in 2001. The old fire warden’s cabin comes into view along the way as well as the cabin where the watchmen lived which has fallen into major disarray but is super cool to take a look at. The are plenty of places to pause, there’s no rush up the mountain.

Adventurers will picnic at Lower Shin Pond and if time permits, take a short hike into Shin Falls; a fifteen minute hike to a 30 foot waterfall is very enticing!

Cost: $45. includes yummy food, yoga, wicked hikes, fab views & all around good vibes

To register for this adventure, payment is available via VENMO (@maineyogaadventures_), check/cash, or add to cart below...

Spring Fever Pop-Up Hiking Adventure

Heads ups, I changed the date from Sunday to sunny Saturday!

MYA is so ready to get on the trails at Acadia before all the tourists do! It’s spring and that means fabulous spring hiking in Maine’s National Park; this time adventurers will take on Sargent Mountain with stunning views and even a waterfall along the way…

Adventurers are looking at a 4.5 mile loop hike along the Hadlock Brook Trail, up to the summit and over to the Maple Spring Trail back down. We’ll come prepared with microspikes in case of an icy patch or two. The beginning of the trail is a slow, gradual climb alongside the brook and after roughly half a mile, the trail reaches the famous waterfall bridge and the Around-Mountain Carriage Road, its skewed arch perfectly frames the beautiful Hadlock Falls, one of the few waterfalls in the park. The hike will get a bit more intense with a steadier climb post falls but no worries, we’ll take our time breathing in the beauty (plenty of water and snack breaks!). At the summit we’ll go for some relaxation and a yoga flow, the length of which will be very weather dependent.

To head down we’ll hop on the maple ridge, a lesser used magical trail that travels alongside a stream as well. Please note, if this trail is closed, there are other options to bring us down :) Lovely portions of the carriage trail will be visited along with bridges, one of which is the hemlock bridge, another beauty. Adventurers will enjoy the stream crossings and the glacial formations along the way.

After hiking adventurers will enjoy some vegetarian food, feel free to bring along your fav beverage.

Let’s celebrate spring with a hike to bring in the season!

Cost: $45 including a gorgeous hike, a yoga practice, yummy food, good vibes

MYA is going back to play with the alpacas in Belfast, The Blue Alpaca Ranch & Store! Adventurers will enjoy hiking, loving up the alpacas whilst stretching, and eating up wicked yummy vegetarian food for a mini friendsgiving before the big day of gratitude...

We'll meet up at the South trailhead of the Belfast Little River Trail. Adventurers will stroll through woodlands, and along the shore of a lake and maybe as far as the Little River. We’ll hike to our heart’s content then turn around (a two hour jaunt should be perfect) to head to the ranch for a tour of the grounds and to meet their beloved pets.

The owners of The Blue Alpaca, Ben & Michele, are fantastic hosts; they’ll give us a tour of the farm and we’ll get to meet all of the wonderful animals. Hiking & Hot Tubbing Adventure

Join MYA for a lovely Saturday as we hike the quarry trail to the summit of Mount Waldo in Frankfort then we’ll soak out the work in a fab hot tub, there will also be plenty of yoga and of course, yummy vegetarian food!

Adventurers will meet up at The Old Quarry Trail at the end of the Mt. Waldo Road, we’ll follow the trail along the old railroad bed half a mile to the old quarry. From an old woods road we’ll follow the pink ribboned trail less than a mile and 1/2 to the summit which has expansive views of the surrounding area. The trail follows the contours of the mountain, making an ascent over bare ledges through rich woods. Total distance is 3.5 miles round trip with a 950 foot vertical rise; adventurers will take their time soaking in all the beauty and we’ll get in pauses for yoga along the way.

Post hike is the eating, hot tubbing, and general merriment portion of the adventure! Champlain Mountain has some of the most impressive cliffs as one of the highest mountains in the park. The Precipice Trail is a breathtaking trail that heads up these steep cliffs, navigating the various tight pathways and rock scrambles. Lobster & Chesuncook Lake Canoeing Adventure

Lobster & Chesuncook Lake Canoeing Adventure

  • Lobster Lake, Maine (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Get in a spectacular five day canoe and camping adventure on Lobster & Chesuncook Lake with MYA and Coyote Ridge Guides in the North Maine Woods with lots of yoga, paddling, birding, swimming, fireside stories and yummy food! The ultimate nature therapy…

The Lobster & Chesuncook Lake trip is a pampered journey albeit rustic as our guides help us carry all our gear, food, supplies, etc. via canoe. This is a good canoe trip for any paddling ability - adventurers can bring along a buddy or come solo and we’ll hook you up with a paddling partner. Our guides, the fabulous Coyote Ridge Guides, Registered Maine Guides, will assist in teaching and reinforcing proper paddling strokes and technique. They also happen to have great personalities and are superb storytellers.

Adventurers will camp along the way in tents at lovely, scenic campsites. Post-paddling adventurers will have plenty of time to relax, swim and practice some yoga before bedtime. All levels of yogis are welcome, no experience, no worries. Daily yoga and meditation practices will be at a level attainable for everyone, we’ll be breathing in the beauty and stretching out our paddling efforts. Being outside at night is always exciting with lots of stargazing and storytelling. There’s nothing like a campfire to bring us all together :)

We’ll meet at a pre-determined location on our first day and drive to Lobster Stream for put in. After our canoes and gear are into the water, we will paddle upstream to Lobster Lake and to a campsite on the lakeshore. The wilderness campsites have lovely sandy beaches and we’ll have plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the stay. There will be ample opportunity for amazing views of Katahdin from both the water and the beaches.

The next day we travel back across the lake and back down lobster Stream to the West Branch of the Penobscot river. We travel down the river for two days and then stay out on Chesuncook lake. The lake was named "goose place" by combining the call of the Canada goose schunk with auke (the Abenaki word for place) to form Chesuncook. Henry David Thoreau visited Chesuncook (village) and lake in 1853 and wrote about its beginnings in his book "The Maine Woods".

Adventurers will have an opportunity to camp on and explore Mauser Island before we get to our take-out location. We’ll travel back to our original meeting place on the fifth day. Taking in and soaking up the last bits of spectacular scenery. Don’t forget your binos!

Our guides will cook all meals over the open fire, and source all of our firewood at the campsites when we arrive. They will cook two meals a day (all dietary restrictions and allergies will be honored), and lunches are usually cold, but all are very substantial. We also have a couple of snacks each day as we travel. For MYA will usually go fully vegetarian but we’ve opened up a fish option for a dinner or two for this canoe trip.

The best part is that the adventure is all inclusive - yessss! All adventurers have to do is show up with their sleeping bag and maybe some clothes :) Every adventurer is provided a dry bag to pack into and if you don’t have a sleeping bag, there are loaners.

Limited to 9 adventurers- be sure to book your spot soon!

Cost: $1,500

Adventurers can choose to either pay in full or put down a deposit to hold their spot.

Contact MYA for payment.

Baths & Beers: Germany Adventure (rescheduled from 2020)

to May 17

Baths & Beers: Germany Adventure (rescheduled from 2020)

MYA is heading to Deutschland for an incredible eight day adventure of thermal soaking, forest bathing, fairytale castle exploring, beer imbibing, train riding, yoga flows, vegetarian food, and more!

germany_7.jpg

Adventurers will meet up at the Frankfurt International Airport (flying out on Monday, May 9th to arrive the next day) and make our way to southerly realms. We’ll hop onto the train, our favored mode of travel for this adventure, en route to a spa town surrounded by the black forest for two nights, the infamous Baden-Baden, home of therapeutic waters.

Our first accommodations are located in the heart of Baden-Baden’s picturesque Old Town. We’ll stay in two apartments in a beautiful historic building with a terrace and a kitchen for MYA to work their magic. Most breakfasts and dinners will be sourced locally & vegetarian. If you have dietary needs beyond food allergies/sensitivities which will be honored, lunch will be the time to satiate those cravings. Adventurers can walk everywhere in this enchanting town; including a mere five minute stroll to the best soaking venue in town, Caracalla Spa.

MYA loves a good soaking after a long flight! Baden-Baden thermal water comes from a depth of 2000 meters and is the most mineral-rich in Germany. With temperatures between 32° and 68° C it regenerates and stimulates the whole body contributing to health and well-being.

The Caracalla Spa offers up space for soothing relaxation and bathing pleasure in the hot thermal water. A combination of water areas and saunas of five different types, an outdoor area in the picturesque castle garden including two marble pools, a lazy river, massage jets and two whirlpools will surely intoxicate adventurers. There’s even a brine inhalation room.

After a good night’s sleep we’ll take more time to enjoy the fairy tale village. An adventurer option could be to take on another spa, the Friedrichsbad is a nude spa, which focuses on the more classic roman bath culture features. The experience relies on the completion of a 17-step circuit which combines soaking in Roman baths of varying temperatures, with Irish steam baths, and a full-body scrub and massage. There are plenty of hiking trails to take us out of town and into the forest, visiting the old castle will be on our to-do list. From thermal bathing to forest bathing :)

germany_8.jpg

With a traditional breakfast, fruhstuck, in our bellies (coffee or tea and bread presented with various toppings such as butter, nutella, cheese, jam, and honey - perhaps a boiled egg added in as well, yum!); adventurers will get ready to move on to Stuttgart.

Our next accommodations will be close to the super fab old town in a historic hotel with a whole lot of character and coziness for the group to put their feet up and relax. Adventurers will pour into two nicely appointed suites. This will be a night out for dinnertime and taking in the scenery, the culture, the beer…

Sweet spots to investigate in the city are St. John’s Church, a stunning Gothic which can be seen reflected in Lake of Feursee which surrounds it, Old Castle is a must, located on the Schillerplatz, a cobblestone square, and if adventurers are up for it, we may get on the outskirts as well to Schloss Solitude.

From Stuttgart, MYA will be traveling by car to stay in Dornstetten at a lovely home with lots of character and a hot tub and sauna! Plenty of space for adventurers with six bedrooms, an open kitchen, and a terrace with a garden that captures the perfect view of sunsets. For music lovers, there’s a piano in the cottage and plenty of books to linger over. We’ll be close to Freudenstadt, the city in the Black Forest with Germany's largest marketplace. In addition, Strasbourg, France, Lake Constance, Stuttgart, Pforzheim, Freiburg and Karlsruhe are just 1 hour away.

Hohenzollern, a magical fairy tale stunning beauty of a castle will be on the itinerary as well as Lichtenstein castle, the gothic revival built upon an escarpment on the edge of the Swabian Alps looking quite dramatic and otherworldly. We’ll definitely be enjoying some hiking trails throughout these jaw dropping environs.

Another option adventurers can decide upon is trekking down to Titisee to partake in the bathing paradise at Schwarzwald - there will be a bit of yin and yang happening here with galaxy schwarzwald thrills (water slides!) and the palm oasis and palais vital targeted towards ultimate relaxation including themed saunas and textile-free water worlds. We may want to spend some time on the lake kayaking or stand up paddleboarding as well.

Back onto the train, we’ll head to our next locale, Bacharach, a picturesque village in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley but not without a stop in the romantic cityscape of Heidelberg on the river Neckar. Adventurers will have an opportunity to stroll through the historic city center's Gothic streets, visit Heidelberg Castle, and Alte Brucke, a beautiful 18th-century bridge. It’ll be the perfect spot for lunch and a beer tasting before heading back on the train to suffer through more beautiful Deutschland!!!

Our final accommodations will be a two night stay in the center of the quaint jewel of a village called Bacharach. A five minute walk from both the train station and the River Rhine, adventurers will stay in a beautiful hotel right in the center of town with a couple of balconies, access to the garden, and traditional Germany breakfasts.

The medieval village of Bacharach surrounded by steep hills planted with grapevines is entered through a gate in the old town walls. The Burg Stahleck fortress looks onto the village of cobbled streets from above. Adventurers will have plenty of time to explore beyond the village - we can pop on and off the hiking paths on the Rheinburgenweg (Rhine castles trail), visit Oberwesel’s Schönburg Castle for a lunchtime excursion, perhaps Pfalzgrafenstein Castle as well and a short train ride to St. Goar for Rheinfels Castle. This area is jam-packed with magical, fairytale beauty and as a group we can go where our hearts lead us…

Don’t miss out on a springtime in Germany adventure!

Cost: $2,300 includes 7 nights accommodations, breakfasts & dinners (unless you want a meaty dinner here and there), transportation in Germany, daily yoga, a couple sweet spa experiences, hiking, castle exploring, good laughs at Holly’s attempts to speak German, and more…

Please contact Holly to book or final payments. Thank you!

Please be aware of MYA’s cancellation policy.

Curling & Alpaca Snuggling Adventure

MYA is getting in some pre-Valentine’s Day super fun with curling & alpacas in Belfast. Adventurers will get their yoga on with the farm animals after our yogaesque curling moves; MYA’s famous vegetarian soup will be in the mix as well! Let’s have an awesome Saturday together…

The adventure begins with a wicked YOU Can Curl session at the The Belfast Curling Club! Only seven lucky adventurers will get a chance to join in the frolicking. We’ll have two dedicated instructors for our crew of beginners. After an overview of the game in the warming room, we’ll get to it on the ice for the crash course. Adventurers will be guided through a typical game for two+ hours, but we do all the curling. I can’t wait to get my hands on that broom!

All will be bringing, not wearing, clean sneakers and wearing loose, warm clothing. Gloves and hats are useful. Layers are good - it’s about 40 degrees on the ice. Bad knees and hips are OK because, if necessary, you can use a stick. You must, however, have good balance. Let’s go yogis!!! You must have proof of vaccination and, as of right now, wear a mask.

Post-curling we’ll head over to The Blue Alpaca Ranch & Store (18 Poor Mills Road, not the downtown store location). MYA had a blast at our last visit and we’re thrilled to be going back!

The owners Ben & Jen are fantastic hosts; they’ll give us a tour of the farm, we’ll get to meet all of the wonderful animals, get some snowga happening (yoga in the snow - hope for snow! and perhaps we’ll have enough for snowshoes as well), and we’ll eat drink hot chocolate and enjoy yummy soup of course! We'll also get a discount on alpaca goods from their store :)

Cost: $105 includes private curling session! food! yoga! alpacas! positive vibes!; $45 adventuring without curling but definitely all the things at the alpaca ranch

Very limited space (for curling!) - payment is available via VENMO (@maineyogaadventures_) or a good ol’ check in the mail or add to cart below (contact Holly if you prefer this method).

Snorkeling & Sunsets: St. John Adventure

Sold Out … thanks adventurers!

Escape to the Virgin Islands with MYA on an extraordinary adventure to gorgeous St. John, a small island in the Caribbean Sea. Bring your snorkeling and scuba gear if you have it - let’s come together for some awesome island explorations!

Adventurers will stay on a hillside villa enjoying the vistas of foliage, sea and sky. The possibilities are endless with playtime at the beaches, a day trip to Puerto Rico, deck lounging & pool dipping, hiking, delicious vegetarian meals, plenty of yoga and more…

A ferry will take adventurers over to St. John (flights are into St Thomas!) and MYA will get you to our super fab private villa. A national park occupies more than half the island with its forests full of resident and migratory birds, including cuckoos, warblers and hummingbirds. The beaches are absolutely spectacular! Dolphins inhabit the island’s waters, which also host hawksbill and green turtles. The mangroves at Hurricane Hole, in the east, support corals and anemones.

The adventure villa is on the south shore in a quiet nature-filled neighborhood on Boatman Bay, a ten minute drive from the harbor. Owned by famous American Pop culture artist, Peter Max, the space is designed for both privacy and communal gatherings.

The lovely bedrooms have an en-suite bath and shower, sliding glass doors, and individual A/C units in each. Two of the king bedrooms have an extra full-sized twin in the room, great for adventurers that don’t mind sharing their space. To round out the group experience, Holly’s 12yr old son Augi will be adventuring with us!

The coral stone deck is expansive with a pool, lounge chairs, and dining area, of course, the views are jaw dropping! All will enjoy dramatic clear turquoise reefs below, pristine National Park coastline, and crisp horizon views of the vast blue sea, sunrises, and moonrises. The evening might be the perfect time to soak in the hot tub, one of MYA’s fav amenities.

We’ll break up the dining experience having four dinners served up at the villa and three meals out on the town being sure to take in the local experience. The MYA offerings will be vegetarian :)

Adventurers will be hiking, snorkeling (equipment is rentable if you don’t have your own), paddleboarding (another rentable item), and swimming. The floating bar might be an interesting excursion and we may get in some guided tours as well such as a leisurely kayak and snorkel adventure through the mangroves – an experience offered very few other places in the world! In villa massage and spa treatments will also be an option for adventurers as an add on. Sunset charters, a mermaid experience (yes, you can put on a fancy tail and pose for pics!), and a private dj are some other offerings :) MYA is definitely planning on a day trip to Puerto Rico - lets book a salsa lesson together and really have some fun!

Don’t miss out on a crazy good time on the island of St. John, a slice of paradise! Adventures will enjoy seven nights in sweet accommodations with breakfasts and four dinners included, yoga twice daily, private pool & hot tub, hiking, swimming, and snorkeling…

To book your space a deposit of $1500 can be made here online or via Venmo or check. Please know that there are limited beds available and the cost is lower if you have a friend to share with.

Keep in mind when choosing your bed, on the main level with the pool and kitchen there is a bedroom with one queen and a bedroom with one king. On the lower level there are two king bedrooms which include one twin in them. There is also a room with two twin beds (can transition to a king) on that level.

Bold Coast Adventure

Cancelled! Sorry my adventurous friends, I guess we’ve played out our visits to Lubec or I just picked a bad weekend :)

MYA is heading downeast for another spectacular hiking, yoga, and yummy food adventure with beautiful accommodations at the Inn on the Wharf! We’ll definitely be hitting Cutler for the super fab trail that this adventure is named after, a dramatic hike that you won’t want to miss…

IMG_2306.JPG

Adventurers will spend the weekend hiking along coastal trails with views for days. We’ll begin on the bold coast trail on Saturday morning - the cliffs are breathtaking, the colors of the water are astounding, the woods are magical and the rocks are wicked fun to scramble upon. We can decide as a group if we’d like to tackle the Fairy Head Loop (10.4 miles) or the Black Point Brook Loop (5.5 miles). As cool as it is along the shore, the woods are really cool too as we’re sure to see frogs, salamanders and unique plants along the way. This is an intermediate hike but we will definitely take it slow to enjoy the majesty that is the stunning bold coast trail.

Accommodations this season are again at the Inn On The Wharf, a renovated 106 yr old sardine factory. Adventurers will stay ‘on the hill’ in wicked sweet rooms with wood floors, balconies and water views. It’s the perfect little getaway spot! We’ll enjoy a feeling of being on the sea with our bayside rooms - the tides rise and fall a dramatic 26 feet. Arrival time is flexible!

We’ve got four rooms to spread out in, Ocean Loft with a king bed and a kitchen, Smuggler with two twins, Bay View with two twins, and Spy Glass with two twins, a kitchen and a pull-out couch (for Holly!).

MYA will be serving up a scrumptious vegetarian meals. The weather may be nice enough to eat on our outdoor dining areas but if it doesn’t feel comfortable, we’ll have plenty of space indoors. Please be sure to bring along some healthy snacks to keep energy up for lots of hiking and nature explorations. We’ll definitely stop by the Lubec Brewing Company for a beverage either Friday or Saturday or both!

Sunday will be another full day of exploring - Lubec offers an astounding amount of nature from beaches to forest, ponds to bogs, cliff sides to gardens. Adventurers will enjoy Quoddy Head State Park for some of the best wildlife watching in the state and West Quoddy Head Light, in all of it’s candy-striped fabulousness. If we have time, adventurers may also get out to Boot Head Preserve, another gorgeous trail!

We’ll also get in an opportunity to visit the Cobscook Shores trail system for strolling along the water and pausing for wine & cheese or hot chocolate & salty snacks (depending on the weather) in one of their pavilions. This may be the perfect spot for a yoga practice, yes, we’ll be sure to get in yoga more than a couple of times during this adventure both inside and out.

Get outside and play with MYA at the stunning bold coast! Vegetarian dinners & breakfasts, yoga practices, guided hikes, fab accommodations for 2 nights are included as well as a great community of adventurers to laugh and bond with :)

Cost: $325/twin; $600/shared king

A one day option of Saturday or Sunday can be made available, please contact Holly for details…
