Snowshoeing Adventure

  • Hirundo Wildlife Refuge 1107 West Old Town Road Old Town, ME, 04468 United States (map)

Join Maine Yoga Adventures for a wintertime adventure at Hirundo Wildlife Refuge. We’ll snowshoe, practice snoga (yoga in the snow), eat yummy food, and more...

The adventure will begin outdoors with a guided snowshoe, taking in all of the wondrous nature that the Hirundo Wildlife Refuge has to offer. Only 10 miles from UMAINE, Orono, the refuge is a 2,400 acre nature preserve, spanning Pushaw and Dead Streams, Lac d’Or, wetlands including a bog, and mixed hardwood and evergreen forests.

Holly, once a naturalist for Maine Audubon at Fields Pond Audubon Center, will share wildlife secrets for wintertime survival. We'll investigate critter tracks and more. Please bring your own snowshoes or MYA will let adventurers borrow a pair.

Along our walk, we'll practice snoga in our snowshoes, both solo and using each other for support. No worries, absolute beginners welcome! Let's hope for lots of snow!

Afterwards adventurers will warm up inside the Hirundo shelter with hot drinks and vegetarian soup. Bring along a sketchbook and adventurers can capture their wintertime adventure with words and/or drawings. We'll enjoy some time sharing our work (optional!).

Cost: $50. Please add to cart to join in the fun!
