Nosara, is a small bumpy roaded village in the Nicoya Peninsula, on the northwest Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Its remoteness has long kept the crowds away, but surfers, yogis and adventurers know it’s special and have been making pilgrimages there for years.

Enjoy a full week of adventuring at our private oasis Casa De Alces - luxurious, tropical, and inspiring. We'll have this spectacular space to ourselves to truly share an extraordinary experience together.

So many ways to relax with the open air rancho style property boasting several lounging areas, multiple fountains, lush landscaping, two strategically placed outdoor showers to rinse off in, and an amazing saltwater pool to slide into and soothe yourself from the sun & heat. An added design speciality to the pool is the convenient swim up tiki bar and I'm sure MYA will be happy to share some refreshments with you!

Another appealing aspect of our casa is the second floor open space perfect for yoga sessions, ease of movement and bringing our community together. A lovely spot for gentle partner yoga! Past adventurers loved using balcony railings for stretching and we can certainly make that happen again...

Our cook will have two fully equipped custom kitchens with stainless steel appliances, one outdoors and one indoors to work her magic. Sophia Palange, professional cook, will whip up artful, tantalizing meals that maintain a local fresh sensibility full of flavor. She'll have a lot more space to create this time around!

Adventurers will have full access to the kitchens as well. Mixing up smoothies is all part of the Nosara vibe!

The casa has seven bedrooms consisting of three master suites (2 king, 1 queen), one double queen casita, single queen private casita, single queen bedroom and a queen bunkbed room are available for adventurers.

The beach, with a completely undeveloped and ecologically dense shoreline, is just a stroll away. Birding is incredible as well as sightings of howler monkeys, butterflies, dragonflies, iguanas, crabs, geckos, cool foxlike Costa Rican squirrels, etc. The buzzing of bees in the bright tropical flowers is heard alongside the sounds of the surf.

Adventurers will be moments away from one of the best surfing beaches in the world in Playa Guiones. Beginner surfers and more advanced surfers welcome!

The beach is a wonderful spot to gather and watch the infamous, jaw dropping Nosara sunset. Both locals and visitors treasure those brief moments with spectacular hues.

Sunrise yoga practices are sweet on the beach. Cool and quiet with the soft and smooth sand underfoot. If you can rouse yourself early Nosara definitely rewards you with it's beauty.

Bike rentals are a great option to explore for not only around town but for nearby beaches as well. We’ll be arriving right around turtle nesting season and on the lookout for large shelled and slow but highly motivated ocean friends. The people you'll meet who live, work & play in Nosara are warm & welcoming and very willing to help you speak espanol!

Cost of the adventure includes vegetarian/vegan breakfasts & dinners, surfing lessons & surfboard, accommodations for seven nights, a gorgeous private casa w/ pool, two daily yoga practices, stunning wildlife sightings, good people full of positive energy...

Side Trips to consider:

Monteverde is a town in mountainous northwestern Costa Rica. It’s renowned for its biodiverse cloud forests and for outdoor pursuits from hiking to zip-lining. The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve shelters countless wildlife species, including jaguars, ocelots and the colorfully plumed quetzal. The reserve’s well-marked trails cut through ferns and orchids, and overhead, hanging bridges allow walks amid the forest canopy.

Visit an incredible black sand beach, Ostional Wildlife Reserve, where Ridley Sea Turtles and their close relatives, Kemp's Sea Turtles, lay their eggs. Amazingly enough, Ostional is the only beach in the world where harvesting turtle eggs is legal. Scientists found that most of the eggs deposited in the first nights of a nesting period are destroyed by other turtles coming in later to dig their nests.

A private nature preserve about 4 miles from your room, Reserva Biologica Nosara, is 90 acres of beauty situated along the Nosara River. It is home to many species of plants, mangroves and wildlife.

Many different birds, such as seabirds, herons, waders, tukanes, motmots, manakins, etc. can be found in this area; altogether, more than 270 species. You may also catch a sighting of monkeys, coatis, raccoons, armadillos, snakes, anteaters, crabs, reptiles...

Other options that may entice you:

Bike rentals - week long rental

Ziplining with Miss Sky Canopy Tour (we LOVED it!)

Nearby yoga studios - Blue Spirit, Bodhi Tree, etc.

Spa time

Horseback Riding

Coffee Plantation Tour and more...

“Costa Rica?” I thought. “Seriously?” I had never been there nor had any clue how to accomplish that. And then up popped Holly’s adventure last January to Costa Rica. I booked!
It was SEAMLESS from arrival to departure. She answered questions, connected me with other people, helped with reservations and took care of EVERYTHING on the ground. What a treat to be able to hit the ground with someone who had actually traveled there BEFORE to sort everything out. That’s class.
The hotel was booked, room open, food available, and the pool was open. We were able to enjoy a week of laid back, relaxed fun – moving from one activity to another. Sunsets and sunrises on the beach, open air cafes, bicycle rentals organized for us, yoga offered morning and night, and throw in a some surfing lessons. Holly was often on the phone organizing and confirming what was coming next – zip lining included with about 15 different lines as we worked our way down a mountain.
My favorite yoga session was early one morning in a open-air pavilion, with the sound of nature just so soothing. We never left the ground, as Holly and Machelle moved quietly from one adventurer to another, giving little stretches and encouragement.
Did I mention the chef that came along to cook organic, nutritious meals?! That helped keep the extra expenses down. And throw in some howler monkeys the last morning, perfect!
All in all, I was VERY glad I had the opportunity to travel with Holly and the Maine Yoga Adventurers and look forward to future adventures.
