Up North Ski Adventure

  • Homestead 95 Parkhurst Siding Rd., Rt. 205 Presque Isle, ME 04769 (map)

MYA is headed up to Northern Maine for a fabulous weekend of snowshoeing, snowga, skiing both ways (optional!), yummy vegetarian food, and more…

Adventurers will lodge together in their own quaint homestead/farmhouse on a lovely property set along the banks of the Aroostook River. Arrival time is flexible - if you want to get outside and explore the trails with your snowshoes, come early! If you want to get outside and cross-country ski, come early! If you can’t slip away until later, no worries, we’ll have plenty of fun and food in the evening :)

The homestead was built in 1889 and allows adventurers plenty of space to spread out into with five lovely bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and dining room to share. Of course MYA will be using the kitchen space to whip up tasty vegetarian dinners and breakfasts. Lunches will be open to adventurers and most likely up to where our adventures take us, either in town or on the slopes or at the homestead. Leftovers are usually an option too!

Saturday and Sunday will be snowga and ski fundays! No worries about snowga, it’s just yoga in the snow, experience is not a necessity. A sense of humor is best as well as snowpants on the looser side! We can partner for balancing postures, always a hoot. No worries if you don’t have snowshoes, MYA can help.

For Saturday’s skiing pleasure, we’ll hit Big Rock Mountain on Mars Hill, less than a half hour drive - fun! MYA is happy to cover lift tickets for adventurers that are into downhill skiing but please know if you’d like to adventure without going downhill, that’s no problem, snowshoeing, snow sculpturing, cross-country skiing, small town shopping, and homestead chillaxin’ are always available.

On Sunday after breakfast and snowga, we’ll head to the Nordic Heritage Center, only 5 minutes away. The NHC, a jewel in the crown of Maine, embodies the best of Aroostook County: a place of incomparable beauty, embracing nature’s four seasons and maintained with love and care by many dedicated volunteers.

NHC offers up 20 kilometers of cross country ski trails and has a lodge for resting up and yoga. The center offers up snowshoe and cross-country ski rentals. If you have your own skis and snowshoes, bring them along and if you want to try fat bikes on the trails, that’s another fun way to indulge in the snow.

Don’t miss out on a fun weekend adventure opting outside!

Cost: $300/twin; $350/double; $400/queen; $450/shared double; $500/shared queen

There’s also an option for solo Sunday Funday for our local friends which includes breakfast and snowga at the homestead and cross-country skiing and after-ski stretch at the Nordic Center.
