Blissful Immersion: Copenhagen Adventure

Only one spot left!

MYA is going for a sweet deep immersion into Copenhagen, the charming capital of Denmark, known for its iconic landmarks, stunning architecture, Scandinavian culture, and emphasis on wellness. The beautiful city is mostly comprised of national parks and stunning remote natural areas with the energetic feel of a city. Copenhagen is undeniably a walkable, bikeable (more than half of residents ride), and many modes of public transportation easy to get around wonderful place to be. Adventurers will discover Hygge, a Danish term, being in a state of comfort, relaxation, and peace with the ones around you. Cozy.

At a perfect time of year with temps in the low 70s, MYA will take up residence for seven nights in a penthouse, two stories with lots of natural light, two beautifully decorated bathrooms, and multiple comfy corners in a lovely neighbourhood next to the royal residence of Amalienborg (changing of the guards at noon!). The historic charm and nordic design is well preserved with two French balconies, an open living room, kitchen, and dining area. A king sized bed is on the first floor and an internal spiral staircase leads to the second floor with two bedrooms each fitted with two single beds. Steel framed glass walls separate the bedrooms from a lounge area and private entrance for the top floor. The building has the highest eco-certification and does not use single use plastic.

Positioned in the heart of the city, we’ll have an ideal place to explore Copenhagen on foot, bike (we’ll get rentals for the week), or from the water. There are lovely spots for outdoor yoga near Kastellet, an old army fort, next to our abode. We’ll definitely take a swim in the free harbour baths! A harbour tour leaving from Nyhavn is on our adventure list. Floating hot tubs are a possibility! GreenKayak will be perfect for our group, we can pick up trash in the harbor as we paddle.

Freetown Christiania, an intentional community and commune is a not to be missed neighborhood in Copenhagen, home to concert venues, bars, organic and vegetarian eateries, art galleries, and nature. A bit touristy but worthy of a visit will be Tivoli with exotic architecture, historic buildings, lush gardens, and an amusement park. At night thousands of lights create a fairytale atmosphere and we may catch a glimpse of guinea fowls or peacocks who roam the premises.

MYA will soak in the vibe from the old ship yard with an exceptional and unforgettable experience in New Nordic Wellness at a wilderness facility in an urban setting with fire-heated hot tubs and saunas intermingled with big cold plunge tubs. If adventurers are up for it, we could do an hour of hot tubbing paired with an hour of the panoramic sauna with an amazing view of CopenHill. More spa experiences will be at our fingertips throughout Copenhagen…

MYA will cover a few breakfasts and dinners with the fresh outdoor food markets just a walking bridge away across from Nyhavn. Otherwise we’ll be hitting many local eateries to get a feel for Danish foods. An optional cooking class will be offered up and a lot of amazing bread and pastries will be available to us, Brød and/or Hart and/or Myers and/or Ole and Steen, all of it! Adventurers can try Mikkeler beer for happy hour to soak up the yummy carbs. Another option to immerse ourselves properly is a beer tasting.

And…surprise, if we can drag ourselves away (there are castles to visit which haven’t even been mentioned!), we’re taking a side trip to Sweden! Malmo is a short train ride from Copenhagen that’s hard not to visit with it’s coastal proximity, large food market, and the possibility of a lovely bike ride into the countryside and a toes in the sand stroll on the beach. The city is quite quaint and adventurers will surely enjoy it as a day trip.

Holly performed at an experimental theatre in Copenhagen over twenty years ago, it’d be cool to see a show there! There are lots of possibilities in our effort to immerse ourselves into the culture of the city. Adventurers can decide to purchase a Copenhagen Card for access into attractions and public transportation as we get closer to the date and firm up our schedule.

Included in the adventure: 7 nights accommodations, daily yoga practices inside & out, 3 dinners & 3 breakfasts, bike rental for the week, positive vibes…

Cost: $2300/twin bed; $3000/king bed solo/$4000 king bed shared (w/ pre-arranged bed mate)

Payment is accepted via Venmo @maineyogaadventures_ or send a check or use the credit card method below either the full amount or a $1000 deposit.

Epic Sunsets & Snorkeling: St. John USVI Adventure

Sold Out - thanks adventurers!

Escape to the Virgin Islands with MYA on an extraordinary adventure to gorgeous St. John, a small island in the Caribbean Sea. This will be our third visit and we know for certain that there will be unparalleled awesome island explorations!

Adventurers will stay at a lush mountain top villa enjoying the vistas of foliage, sea and sky. Daily visitations of iguanas, lizards, and birds are sure to delight. The possibilities are endless with playtime at the beaches, hiking, delicious vegetarian meals, veranda lounging, pool dipping, hot tub soaking, giving back as island volunteers, plenty of yoga practices, and more…

A ferry will take adventurers over to St. John (flights are into St Thomas) and MYA will arrange a 4-wheel drive pick up to whisk you off to our super fab accommodations.

A national park occupies more than half the island with its forests full of resident and migratory birds, including cuckoos, warblers and hummingbirds. The beaches are pristine and spectacular! Ancient jungles ruins are throughout the landscape. Dolphins inhabit the island’s waters, which also host hawksbill and green turtles. The mangroves at Hurricane Hole in the east support corals, anemones, and a large variety of colorful fish. Donkeys, goats, and chickens are sprinkled throughout the island.

Our stunning adventure villa is a fresh one for MYA on Bordeaux Mountain, the highest summit on the island, in the national park. Adventurers will be sweetly ensconced in a quiet, private lush space with a main house and a carriage house, between Cruz Bay & Coral Bay. Tucked away and charming, with sweeping mountain top views across the Caribbean to the British Virgin Islands with plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy the stunning scenery and cooling breeze.

Inside the magnificent mason home is the exquisite stone Great Room with soaring ceilings adorned with arched windows and mahogany french doors which open up to the wrap around covered veranda which extends out to a breezy tranquil porch.

The gourmet kitchen with blue Viking range was designed for serious cooking and entertaining in mind; Anna, our vegetarian cook for the week, is going to be killing it! The MYA offerings will be vegetarian and any and all food allergies/preferences will be honored. All of the breakfasts are covered as well as five vegetarian dinners at the house, two will be out on the town to take in the local experience.

There are two beautifully decorated bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms within the main house, one with a stone and tile outdoor shower. The close by carriage house has three spacious bedrooms with lovely interiors and a fabulous outdoor shower. The two bedrooms on the upper level of the carriage house have private access and share a spacious bathroom with the open air native stone shower. There is also a large bedroom on the ground level of the carriage house with a full ensuite bathroom. The villa truly comes together with all of the outdoors lounging/eating areas and lush tropical plantings, the infinity in-ground pool, and over sized hot tub.

But wait there’s more, the outdoor dining area with Weber grille (veggie kabobs!) with seating for up to 12 adventurers will be super cool. The space also shares a cozy, comfortable seating area all framed with beautiful arch french doors which open to the pool and central courtyard. Utterly captivating with tranquil ambiance beyond compare!

MYA will be offering up some of our time to the locals with a volunteer component added to our adventure. Adventurers can help out in the national park and/or help care for island animals such as horses, donkeys and goats at the animal sanctuary. We’ll get in a couple hours in the morning before the day heats up.

Adventurers will be hiking, snorkeling (equipment is rentable if you don’t have your own), swimming, birding & wildlife viewing, and enjoying yoga at least once a day. Every beach that we visit has the possibility of amazing underwater life, coral, turtles, fish, nurse shark, octopus etc.

Our breathtaking home is less than 3 miles from Castelo de Palmela, a castle situated between the estuaries of the River Tagus and Sado River, near the mouth of the latter; also part of the Costa Azul (blue coast). We’ll adventure to stunning beaches in the area that are about a 15 minute drive from the property.

The Setúbal peninsula, authentic (not ravaged by tourists yet), is known for good wine, Azeitao cheese, and cakes! Lisbon, full of charm, history and vibrant cuisine, is only 30 minutes away and Sintra, a wee bit further on, is a sweet town in a green mountainscape of palaces, country estates, parks and a medieval castle.

Adventurers will have plenty of space in a beautiful house with eight bedrooms, two living rooms, two kitchens, and a panoramic outdoor jacuzzi; views for days from every perspective. There’s a lovely pool and plenty of options indoors & out for our daily yoga practice, if the vibe is right we’ll get in an evening practice as well. Beyond the doorstep are great trails to stroll and take in more sights…

Located next to the sea, Arrábida Natural Park has incomparable beauty where the blue of the sea alternates with the white tones of chalk cliffs and the depths of green vegetation covering the mountains. In addition to the Arrábida range is the Serra do Risco with the highest peak along the Portuguese mainland coast, a magnificent cliff measuring 380m high that overlooks the sea.

Adventurers will visit the beaches of Figueirinha, Galapos and the Portinho da Arrábida with fine sand and transparent waters much like the Mediterranean. Ribeira do Cavalo is one of the best secluded beaches in Portugal which we’ll hike into through the surrounding mountains to take in the calmness of the water. Praia dos Galapinhos is a must see dreamy beach with clear waters & white sand surrounded by lush vegetation. Praia das Bicas is accessed by a long wooden stair case, a perfect spot to watch the sunset or simply play in the waves. Adventurers may find Argil, a type of green clay, that's used as a natural skin treatment.

Adventurer birders will be compelled to visit the Sado Estuary Natural Reserve. The wildlife park is home to an astonishing variety of bird species; around 220 have been recorded in open water, shallow lagoons, reed-beds, and across mud flats. The estuary is an important wintering ground for razorbill, marsh harrier, flamingo, purple heron, and black-winged stilt, among many others. Let’s go - don’t forget your binos!

Arrábida has excellent conditions for farming and produces high-quality products including the wines that we’ll discover on the Costa Azul wine route and the delicious cheeses we’ll sample in the town of Azeitão. MYA will keep a supply of Portuguese wines & cheeses at the house as well that we can sample at our leisure.

Outside of our area, we’ll adventure to Lisbon & Sintra to take in sights, get in a hike or two, and eat some yummy food, and head to fairytale castles. Adventurers can help build the excursion :)

Beaches & Mountains of Abruzzo: Italy Adventure

Sold out - thanks adventurers!

MYA is taking on gorgeous Italy again but in a different locale, we’re headed to Abruzzo, the green lung of Europe!, for the outstanding countryside, medieval towns, stunning mountains, parks & nature reserves, and awesome beaches. Adventurers will stay seven nights in a beautiful villa nicely placed to explore all of the region’s fabulousness along with plenty of yoga, vegetarian food, and excursions. Apologies, there is very limited space on this adventure…

Our villa is in a perfect peaceful location, we can walk to the nearby village and we’re just a fifteen minute drive from Giulianova, a thriving town on the sea near the mouth of the Tordino river with one of the most beautiful sandy beaches of the Adriatic coast. Adventures will relax in the countryside with a private pool, gardens, and open views across the valleys towards hilltop towns and the majestic Gran Sasso, the highest mountain in the Apennine range.

There are six bedrooms in the modern and spacious villa designed over three floors with a sun terrace on each level to enjoy the different aspects from its elevated location. The covered outdoor corridor on the ground and first floors provide a shaded walkway that keeps the living area and bedrooms cool. Across the central lawn with a shady olive tree and leafy Mulberry tree is the old farm house which adds lots of character to the overall villa vibe. Wifi is available.

The nearby village of Mosciano Sant' Angelo provides all amenities, as well as a weekly market with local produce. During July, Mosciano and the surrounding villages host various summer festas, food nights and concerts, all just a five minute drive away. There is a fabulous traditional restaurant just a short stroll down the lane with fantastic food and views across Giulianova to the sea.

Mosciano Sant'Angelo is a fascinating medieval village, it owes its name to the cult of the Archangel Michael and can be admired from afar with its panorama of buildings including the famous Torre degli Acquaviva (water tower). This is a sweet area dominated by the view of olive groves and vineyards from which the excellent Montepulciano wine is born. Walking through its streets you can breathe history and spirituality and from here we could leave for horseback excursions in the surrounding nature. What do you think adventurers, shall we ride?!

An MYA cook, will take care of all of our breakfasts and four to five dinners, all vegetarian, whipping up the freshest most local ingredients with delightful Italian flair. Adventurers will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy meals outside of the villa, from the restaurant across the street and beyond.

Along with the daily yoga practice and an occasional evening flow under the stars, we’ll travel beyond our villa and local village to soak in more of Abruzzo. There will be a day of wine tasting; we can visit three local wineries mixed in with sightseeing and strolling. We can plan a day trip to Rome if adventurers are interested. Adventurers can venture into the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park about an hour away, if we leave early enough we can get in a hike before it gets too hot.

Roccascalegna, a perfectly preserved medieval village, lying on the spur of the mountain with its 16th century castle rising on a rock of limestone, has to be seen to be believed. Also on our list is Scanno within Abruzzo National Park, deemed one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. A visit to Bugnara, another super sweet hillside village and Catignano, will be tossed in with a visit to the seaside for cool dipping. There’s going to be a lot of gorgeous sights to take in!

Don’t miss out on a fantastic adventure in Abruzzo Italy! Adventurers will fly into Rome (leaving the US on the 21st) and meet up with Machelle and her daughter to be driven to the lovely villa where Holly and her two boys & more adventurers will greet you with open arms.

Cost: $2600 twin bed, shared room; $4800 king bed, private room, total cost for two adventurers

To book your space a deposit of $1600 per adventurer or the full amount can be made via Venmo (@maineyogaadventures_) or a check in the mail or purchase below...

Hiking & Wining: Portugal Adventure

Sold out - thank you adventurers!

Join MYA on an epic adventure to Portugal! We’ll hike and take in the local culture as we explore spectacular beaches, mountains, historic towns, castles, cheese shops, wine cellars & beyond…

MYA will be enjoying an elevated eight acre private property in the Parque Natural da Arrábida with magnificent views to the sea, mountains and Lisbon. Our home is less than 3 miles from Castelo de Palmela, a castle situated between the estuaries of the River Tagus and Sado River, near the mouth of the latter; also part of the Costa Azul (blue coast). We’ll adventure to stunning beaches in the area that are about a 15 minute drive from the property.

Lisbon, full of charm, history and vibrant cuisine, is only 30 minutes away and Sintra, a wee bit further on, is a sweet town in a green mountainscape of palaces, country estates, parks and a medieval castle.

Adventurers will have plenty of space in a large beautiful house with eight bedrooms, two living rooms, two kitchens, and a panoramic outdoor jacuzzi with crazy views. There’s a lovely pool and plenty of options indoors & out for our daily yoga practice, if the vibe is right we’ll get in an evening practice as well.

Located next to the sea, Arrábida Natural Park has incomparable beauty where the blue of the sea alternates with the white tones of chalk cliffs and the depths of green vegetation covering the mountains. Speleology (cave explorations), diving, and mountain climbing are a few activities that local guides offer. In addition to the Arrábida mountain range is the Serra do Risco with the highest peak along the Portuguese mainland coast, a magnificent cliff measuring 380m high that overlooks the sea.

Adventurers will visit the beaches of Figueirinha, Galapos and the Portinho da Arrábida with fine sand and transparent waters much like the Mediterranean. Access will be an adventure as we take a steep, uneven path down known locally as the 'goat path'. Ribeira do Cavalo is one of the best secluded beaches in Portugal which we’ll hike into through the surrounding mountains to take in the calmness of the water that is uncommon in this area.

Praia dos Galapinhos is another dreamy beach with clear waters & white sand surrounded by lush vegetation. An unmarked trail that starts on the side of the road after Galapinhos is Praia dos Coelhos, a stunning wild beach with another steep downhill walk but wicked worthwhile. As another way to explore the area, adventurers may want to get in on a Coasteering Trip, a multi-activity that uses trekking, climbing, swimming, rappelling, zip line, caving and many jumps into the water.

There are more interconnected beaches with high cliffs and incredible walking trails. Adventurers may find Argil, a type of green clay, that's used as a natural skin treatment. Strong waves & high tides are the gift of these beaches so we’ll hang back watch surfers dance on the treacherous waters. Praia das Bicas is accessed by a long & steep wooden stair case, a perfect spot to watch the sunset or adventurers could opt for paragliding from the cliff edge for an incredible high!

Arrábida has excellent conditions for farming and produces high-quality products including the wines that we’ll discover on the Costa Azul wine route and the delicious cheeses we’ll sample in the town of Azeitão. Baths & Beers: Germany Adventure (rescheduled from 2020)

MYA is heading to Deutschland for an incredible eight day adventure of thermal soaking, forest bathing, fairytale castle exploring, beer imbibing, train riding, yoga flows, vegetarian food, and more!

germany_7.jpg

Adventurers will meet up at the Frankfurt International Airport (flying out on Monday, May 9th to arrive the next day) and make our way to southerly realms. We’ll hop onto the train, our favored mode of travel for this adventure, en route to a spa town surrounded by the black forest for two nights, the infamous Baden-Baden, home of therapeutic waters.

Our first accommodations are located in the heart of Baden-Baden’s picturesque Old Town. We’ll stay in two apartments in a beautiful historic building with a terrace and a kitchen for MYA to work their magic. Most breakfasts and dinners will be sourced locally & vegetarian. If you have dietary needs beyond food allergies/sensitivities which will be honored, lunch will be the time to satiate those cravings. Adventurers can walk everywhere in this enchanting town; including a mere five minute stroll to the best soaking venue in town, Caracalla Spa.

MYA loves a good soaking after a long flight! Baden-Baden thermal water comes from a depth of 2000 meters and is the most mineral-rich in Germany. With temperatures between 32° and 68° C it regenerates and stimulates the whole body contributing to health and well-being.

The Caracalla Spa offers up space for soothing relaxation and bathing pleasure in the hot thermal water. A combination of water areas and saunas of five different types, an outdoor area in the picturesque castle garden including two marble pools, a lazy river, massage jets and two whirlpools will surely intoxicate adventurers. There’s even a brine inhalation room.

After a good night’s sleep we’ll take more time to enjoy the fairy tale village. An adventurer option could be to take on another spa, the Friedrichsbad is a nude spa, which focuses on the more classic roman bath culture features. The experience relies on the completion of a 17-step circuit which combines soaking in Roman baths of varying temperatures, with Irish steam baths, and a full-body scrub and massage. There are plenty of hiking trails to take us out of town and into the forest, visiting the old castle will be on our to-do list. From thermal bathing to forest bathing :)

germany_8.jpg

With a traditional breakfast, fruhstuck, in our bellies (coffee or tea and bread presented with various toppings such as butter, nutella, cheese, jam, and honey - perhaps a boiled egg added in as well, yum!); adventurers will get ready to move on to Stuttgart.

Our next accommodations will be close to the super fab old town in a historic hotel with a whole lot of character and coziness for the group to put their feet up and relax. Adventurers will pour into two nicely appointed suites. This will be a night out for dinnertime and taking in the scenery, the culture, the beer…

Sweet spots to investigate in the city are St. John’s Church, a stunning Gothic which can be seen reflected in Lake of Feursee which surrounds it, Old Castle is a must, located on the Schillerplatz, a cobblestone square, and if adventurers are up for it, we may get on the outskirts as well to Schloss Solitude.

From Stuttgart, MYA will be traveling by car to stay in Dornstetten at a lovely home with lots of character and a hot tub and sauna! Plenty of space for adventurers with six bedrooms, an open kitchen, and a terrace with a garden that captures the perfect view of sunsets. For music lovers, there’s a piano in the cottage and plenty of books to linger over. We’ll be close to Freudenstadt, the city in the Black Forest with Germany's largest marketplace. In addition, Strasbourg, France, Lake Constance, Stuttgart, Pforzheim, Freiburg and Karlsruhe are just 1 hour away.

Hohenzollern, a magical fairy tale stunning beauty of a castle will be on the itinerary as well as Lichtenstein castle, the gothic revival built upon an escarpment on the edge of the Swabian Alps looking quite dramatic and otherworldly. We’ll definitely be enjoying some hiking trails throughout these jaw dropping environs.

Another option adventurers can decide upon is trekking down to Titisee to partake in the bathing paradise at Schwarzwald - there will be a bit of yin and yang happening here with galaxy schwarzwald thrills (water slides!) and the palm oasis and palais vital targeted towards ultimate relaxation including themed saunas and textile-free water worlds. We may want to spend some time on the lake kayaking or stand up paddleboarding as well.

Back onto the train, we’ll head to our next locale, Bacharach, a picturesque village in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley but not without a stop in the romantic cityscape of Heidelberg on the river Neckar. Adventurers will have an opportunity to stroll through the historic city center's Gothic streets, visit Heidelberg Castle, and Alte Brucke, a beautiful 18th-century bridge. It’ll be the perfect spot for lunch and a beer tasting before heading back on the train to suffer through more beautiful Deutschland!!!

Our final accommodations will be a two night stay in the center of the quaint jewel of a village called Bacharach. A five minute walk from both the train station and the River Rhine, adventurers will stay in a beautiful hotel right in the center of town with a couple of balconies, access to the garden, and traditional Germany breakfasts.

The medieval village of Bacharach surrounded by steep hills planted with grapevines is entered through a gate in the old town walls. The Burg Stahleck fortress looks onto the village of cobbled streets from above. Adventurers will have plenty of time to explore beyond the village - we can pop on and off the hiking paths on the Rheinburgenweg (Rhine castles trail), visit Oberwesel’s Schönburg Castle for a lunchtime excursion, perhaps Pfalzgrafenstein Castle as well and a short train ride to St. Goar for Rheinfels Castle. This area is jam-packed with magical, fairytale beauty and as a group we can go where our hearts lead us…

Don’t miss out on a springtime in Germany adventure!

Cost: $2,300 includes 7 nights accommodations, breakfasts & dinners (unless you want a meaty dinner here and there), transportation in Germany, daily yoga, a couple sweet spa experiences, hiking, castle exploring, good laughs at Holly’s attempts to speak German, and more…

Please contact Holly to book or final payments. Thank you!

Please be aware of MYA’s cancellation policy.

Ice Castles, Skiing & Wicked Resort Vibing Adventure

MYA is going to Lincoln, NH to do all the things! We’ll be visiting glowing ice castles, skiing (cross-country and/or downhill), snowshoeing, practicing snowga, ice skating, hot tubbing, pool swimming, sledding, vegetarian food eating, and so much more…

Arrival time is flexible, we’ll begin our adventure by settling into our majestic accommodations. Adventurers will be staying in two suites at the super fab Riverwalk Resort (Holly has stayed there with her boys and fell in love with it!); it is jam-packed with all of the fun wintertime necessities. We’ll have a full kitchen (2) for homemade soups, balconies for daydreaming, and full access to an indoor hot tub, an outdoor hot tub, an outdoor heated pool, an ice rink, a firepit, fitness center, a spa if you’d like to partake in more self-care, and we’re steps away from an awesome brewery and a short drive to a winery.

Friday night we’ll enjoy happy hour with appetizers & wine and when the time is right, we’ll settle into a delicious vegetarian dinner. We can pop outdoors for a snowga session (yoga in the snow) before heading to sleep. Of course we’ll find time for skating & hot tubbing! Other than a set time for a visit to the Ice Castles on Saturday, adventurers can decide if they want a wicked active adventure or want a laid back adventure.

Saturday morning will begin with a wholesome breakfast to prepare adventurers for the day. This day can be an opportunity to hit Loon Mountain for either downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, or tubing. Adventurers can purchase their downhill skiing tickets online ahead of time for possible discounts. Snowshoeing is another option that is close by and gorgeous in the area. The Lincoln Woods Trail is a local favorite, 2.6-mile out-and-back trail, that is built on a former logging railway that runs along the riverbed. The trail is gently inclined, great for beginners. Maybe you just want to chill more in the hot tubs and heated pool :)

No matter what, we’ll all come back together to eat yummy vegetarian food before heading out for nighttime revelry - a visit to the Ice Castles! Adventurers will explore icy layers and tunnels in a cool version of Frozen. The castles are enshrouded in an aurora borealis and lit from within in a rainbow of colors. Let’s get in some yoga with the ice!

We can definitely stroll over to the brewery for a pint on our way ‘home’. There is a trail alongside the river that we can access for a sweet walk or a quickie nighttime ski, don’t forget your headlamp!

Post yummy eats in the morn, Sunday funday can be adventurer’s choice as well. In the past we’ve checked out Franconia Notch State Park and loved snowshoeing in to see The Flume, a super cool site of flowing water and thick ice and snow. If you need to get in some wintertime ziplining, Alpine Zipline is the place you may want to check out to book ahead of time. Another terrific option that MYA had an excellent time at is the White Mountain Bike Shop where you can cross-country ski, snowshoe, fat bike, and/or go sledding. The passes are very affordable and well worth it. No matter what, we’ll be getting in yoga practices in our boots, in our snowshoes, or even inside, let’s wait and see what the weather holds (lots of snow!).

Space is limited but MYA will get more rooms if more adventurers would like to stay & play! Don’t miss out on a yoga adventure in the beautiful White Mountains with lots of wintertime playtime…

Join MYA on an epic voyage as we canoe into the wilderness getting in as much yoga, birding & vegetarian food as we can along the way! Adventurers will get an exceptional dose of nature therapy on a five day adventurous retreat on the legendary Allagash River. From birds to mammals, the wildlife on the waterway will be extraordinary…

The Allagash Wilderness Waterway is Maine’s best-known canoe trip and has attracted paddlers for more than a century. Henry David Thoreau ventured into this region more than 150 years ago by traveling into the Allagash via the Mud Pond Carry from the West Penobscot watershed. Adventurers will be on one of the few eastern rivers that can be paddled for a week without coming into contact with modern civilization. The Allagash is Maine’s only designated Wild and Scenic River endowed with easy flowing river sections and moderate whitewater on Chase Stream Rapids.

Canoe the Wild is our highly recommended professional guide service with exceptional Registered Maine Guides. Big thanks to them for letting me use their pics to highlight this adventure!

The Allagash trip is suitable for any level of ability, from novice to advanced paddler - adventurers will receive excellent instruction in the most efficient handling of your canoe in varied water conditions. Beginners will learn fundamentals and the more experienced paddlers will learn to polish their skills. Plenty of time will be allotted for preparing to paddle the river.

Daily yoga and meditation practices will be at a level attainable for everyone, we’ll be breathing in the beauty and stretching out our paddling efforts. Campsites are primitive and beautiful, we’ll have plenty of time for relaxing, swimming, and exploring. Being outside at night is always exciting with lots of stargazing and storytelling.

Acadia Adventure: Hiking & Paddleboarding

Sold out - thanks adventurers!

Get in on a three-night adventure in Maine’s Acadia National Park known for its dramatic landscapes from the mountains to the lakes to the shorelines. Adventurers will be busy playing outside hiking and paddling with all of those fun things in between like mountain top yoga, paddleboard yoga, vegetarian food feasting, wine tastings, a schooner sunset sail, tide pooling and more…

IMG_4507.jpeg

MYA will welcome you with open arms at high season in Acadia with fab accommodations that are extremely hard to come by! Tuesday will be a flexible arrival time, no worries if you can’t get to us until sundown, we’ll be there ready to feed you no matter what :)

Adventurers will have time to settle in and relax into the lovely Harbourside Inn. Such a delightful place nestled on a wooded hillside in the village of Northeast Harbor. Built in the shingle style popular to the Maine coast, the inn offers up rooms with their own distinct character, charm, and comfort. The inn is locally owned and operated by generations of the Sweet family for over 40 years.

Conveniently located, yet off the beaten path, adventurers will be just a few minutes walk from the quaint village of Northeast Harbor and a 15 minute drive away from Bar Harbor.  The village has many locally owned shops, art galleries and restaurants offering an array of Maine made gifts and fare. The Northeast Harbor hiking trails are accessible right from our backyard and will take us to Lower Hadlock Pond and other sites for nature explorations.

We’ll start out our first night just right with an outdoor clean-crafted wine tasting in the backyard (Holly is a wine consultant with Scout & Cellar) paired with yummy appetizers. Adventurers can try out one of our local walking paths then settle into a divine vegetarian dinner prepared by Anna Olsen, a super awesome MYA cook. Anna can work with any and all dietary needs, food allergies and preferences.

Post dinner we may want to head into Acadia for a sunset hike or stroll down to the harbor or hit the closest beach for a dip :) Whatever adventurers would like to do, MYA is up for it!

The morning will begin with a super tasty MYA breakfast to get adventurers fortified for hiking in Acadia National Park. First up is the fab Beech Mountain Trail - this trail leads up the side of the cliffs with beautiful views and a ladder rung or two; a moderate hike.

When adventurers arrive at the top of the cliffs we’ll practice yoga on a great slab of rocks in the sunshine. The view is well worth the hike. Far below, people on the beach will seem like little ants and we’ll see Greening Island and the house where Henry Wadsworth Longfellow stayed with the Great Cranberry Island beyond. Southwest Harbor will also be in view from the top. And that sweet town is definitely on our list for visiting!

Post-hike adventurers will then have relaxation, snacks, and optional swim time at Echo Lake Beach. It’s so nice to splash around after heating up hiking. If energy levels are good, we may even get some stretching in on the sand. Another option depending on the wind, can be dropping in boats if adventurers bring them along for our stay. Holly will have a few paddleboards, her favorite way to play in the water but canoes and kayaks are welcome as well.

We’ll have options in the afternoon on what we’d like to do, perhaps another hike, Holly is into Precipice if others are up for it! Please know that this is an exposed and almost vertical 1,000 foot climb up the east face of Champlain Mountain. The trail is only recommended for physically fit and experienced hikers who have no fear of heights.

Beehive is an awesome one too, short & sweet and dramatic views from this steep trail with ladders. We can also hit Sand Beach from there for a quick dip in the sea. If adventurers would like a bit less of a height challenge, the Jordan Pond shore trail is quite nice on its own or packaged up with one of the Bubbles. Flying Mountain is another close by beauty that has a lovely cove at the base where loons are known to swim and peregrines fly thru the cliffs.

Simply chilling at our lovely inn, taking a stroll in the woods or giving into some good ol’ relaxation is another option as well as taking your fav watercraft (or Holly’s paddleboards) to another nearby drop in spot.

Adventurers will enjoy another fabulous spread by Anna followed up by a stroll to the Asticou Azalea Gardens, a Japanese inspired tranquil environment. We’ll take our time breathing in the greenery and floral scents, strolling thru bird song in this beautiful oasis.

As darkness sets in we can get in some nighttime stargazing adventuring which is still pretty great in Acadia! We may want to hit the epic sunset on Cadillac, we’ll check the weather for the clearest sky, it is a truly extraordinary experience.

On Thursday after a delish breakfast and a gentle yoga practice, adventurers will head out for a standup paddleboarding tour. We’ll meet up with a guide at a location with low wind and off the beaten path, hugging the shoreline and enjoying nature. Holly will be sure to throw in some yoga poses along the way - no experience necessary! We’ll all have some fun and be prepared if we happen to fall in :)

Post-paddling, adventurers will have some free time to relax then decide on more activities such as a hike or biking or a swim (or napping!). Dinnertime will sure to be awesome with local as possible and wicked fresh ingredients. Adventurers will be eating early because a schooner sunset sail, a downeast windjammer cruise, will be the perfect way to bring on the night. Please let Holly know if that is not a good option for you, sea sickness is no joke.

Friday will be adventurer’s choice - there is so much to do in this area and there may be something that you simply don’t want to miss. If we haven’t gotten it in yet, tide pooling in Acadia is super fun and there are some sweet leisurely hikes surrounding the pools. Any of the seaside trails are stunning and also perfect for dipping the toes in on a hot August day. More paddleboarding is always an option!

The only thing we absolutely have to do is vacate the inn by 11am.

Don’t miss out on this chance to adventure in such a sweet spot with a great community of adventurers! The cost includes 3 nights accommodations at the inn, vegetarian breakfasts & dinners, wine tastings, yoga sessions, paddleboarding, sunset sail, hiking, good vibes and more! (Please be sure to be fully vaccinated at the time of adventuring to make it safe and easy for all involved.)

Cost: $825 twin; $950 solo queen; $1300 shared queen (total price for two adventurers)

$200/solo Thursday including breakfast & dinner, stand up paddleboarding tour, yoga, chill time at the inn, sunset sail

To register, payment is available via VENMO (@maineyogaadventures_) or a good ol’ check in the mail. If you prefer to pay by credit card, MYA can make that happen as well.

When it’s time for adventurers to sleep, you’ll find that our spot is quite secluded and you won’t hear many sounds besides the local animal critters passing through.

Saturday and Sunday will be chock full of yoga, yummy food and nature explorations. MYA will add in free time for getting out in your favorite watercraft, please bring your canoe, kayak or paddleboard. The adventure can be taken at your own pace, you can spice it up with more activities or take a relaxed approach bringing along a good book.

Please note that this will be a relatively unplugged weekend without wifi :) This is a fantastic area for hiking, birding, rock scrambling and dipping into the sea. There is a roughly one mile loop path that runs along the shoreline from the cottage which is fun no matter what time of day you head out on it.

Adventurers will have an opportunity to explore Barred Island Preserve, an easy, 1.5-mile hike through the woods ending at a gorgeous sand bar that leads to the island that is perfect for both lounging and climbing around. The temps may be nice for a swim as well. It is a great spot for a picnic!

We’ll also not miss a visit to Nervous Nellie’s Jams & Jellies this season. It’s a family favorite, where you can explore the woods filled with intricate sculptures by artist Peter Beerit. There’s a gift shop with jams and jellies for sale. It’s a wicked fun and unique spot. I’m sure there will be many opportunities for a photo shoot!

Inside the main cottage are four bedrooms including a queen size bed, two double beds, and a set of bunkbeds. There’s a great kitchen for socializing with a fab lounging area or two including a screened-in porch and a deck looking right out over the water.

MYA has a bunkhouse for accommodations as well (sorry without a bathroom - run to the main house, thankfully it isn’t far) with three rooms, two with double beds and one with triple bunks. It’ll be cozy and comfy with some great views to be had.

Healthy & vaccinated adventurers, don’t miss out on a fabulous coastal weekend on Deer Isle with a great crew of adventurers celebrating six years of adventuring, playing, hiking, eating, laughing, relaxing, connecting, and more!

Acadia Adventure: Climbing & Hiking (rescheduled from 2020)

Get in on a three-night adventure in Maine’s Acadia National Park known for its dramatic landscapes from the mountains to the lakes to the shorelines. Adventurers will be busy playing outside hiking and rock climbing with all of those fun things in between like paddling, tide pooling, chillin in the hammock, mountain top yoga, vegetarian food feasting, a schooner sunset sail and more.

IMG_4507.jpeg

Thursday will be a flexible arrival time, no worries if you can’t get to us until sundown, we’ll be there ready to feed you no matter what :) Adventurers will have time to settle in and relax into a lovely home in Manset, Southwest Harbor. Such a delightful place right on the water, away from the hubbub, with the perfect setting for yoga, and a divine porch for sipping wine & relaxing. That sunset is going to be outstanding! The view encompasses the entrance to Somes Sound, inner and outer islands, as well as the western and eastern mountains of Acadia National Park.

We’ll literally be minutes away from fantastic outdoor activities with the park surrounding the property. Ship Harbor Nature Trail, Bass Harbor Light, Echo Lake Beach, and some of the most scenic hikes in the park, including summit trails up Acadia, St Sauveur, Mansell, Beach Cliff, Flying Mountain and more.

The 1903 house is a classic oceanfront wood shingled 'cottage,' with ocean views from nearly every window. Very easy to access the outdoors from the fabulous wrap around porch overlooking the secluded pebble beach. The 3-story home has plenty of room with 6 bedrooms, a large living room with panoramic ocean view, a formal dining room, and eat-in kitchen. With fine crafted woodwork throughout, comfy window seats, wood burning fireplaces, a piano, books, games and puzzles galore, the house is super sweet for adventurers.

The house also has a gas grill, private dock, hammock and outdoor furniture to lounge around on. Adventurers can explore the ever-changing tidal pools or beach comb along the large cobblestone beach. There’s even a private nature trail, the Deer Path, that winds throughout the property. Nature comes to you in this wonderful spot, with sightings of deer, fox and raccoon, as well as otter, seal, dolphin, osprey and an occasional bald eagle. Another huge plus is that a few steps out the door adventurers can catch the Cranberry Cove Ferry to the outer islands or jump in the car to close by hiking trails, carriage roads, island beaches, and in-town shops.

Friday morning after a yummy breakfast, we’ll hike up the fab Beech Mountain Trail - this trail leads up the side of the cliffs with beautiful views and a ladder rung or two; a moderate hike. Southwest Harbor will also be in view from the top, the sweet town just moments away from the house.

Holly will have a couple paddleboards, her favorite way to play in the water but canoes and kayaks are welcome as well.

We’ll have options in the afternoon on what we’d like to do, perhaps another hike, Holly is into Precipice if others are up for it (if it’s open - nesting peregrines). Beehive is an awesome short & sweet hike and the views are dramatic from this steep trail with ladders. We can also hit Sand Beach from there for a quick dip in the sea. If adventurers would like a bit less of a height challenge, the Jordan Pond shore trail is quite nice on its own or packaged up with one of the Bubbles or Pemetic Mtn. Flying mountain is 10 minutes away and super fun as well!

We could also head back to our seaside abode to stroll amongst the tidal pools or take it easy in the hammock, and some good ol’ relaxation. Another option is taking your fav watercraft to Somes sound for a paddle perhaps dropping in right in front of our place if the water is calm enough.

Adventurers will enjoy another fabulous vegetarian dinner by Sarah, awesome MYA cook and we can get in some nighttime adventuring of stargazing which is still pretty great in Acadia and beyond!

stars.jpg

On Saturday after a delish breakfast and a gentle yoga practice, adventurers will get in some awesome rock climbing at a sweet spot in the park determined by Noah Kleiner of Equinox Guiding Service. Noah will help guide adventurers through every step of the way - no experience necessary. MYA has worked with him several times and he always gets rave reviews from MYA clients and his own satisfied clients. Oh boy do we have fun every time!

Post-climbing, adventurers will have some free time to relax then decide on more activities such as a hike or biking or a swim (or napping!). Dinnertime will sure to be awesome with local as possible and wicked fresh ingredients. Adventurers will be eating early because a schooner sunset sail will be the perfect way to bring on the night. Please let Holly know if that is not a good option for you, sea sickness is no joke :)

sail.jpg

Sunday funday will be adventurer’s choice - there is so much to do in this area and there may be something that you simply don’t want to miss. Options are open to take the ferry to the Cranberry Islands or get in another hike and/or paddle or take in a few little towns for shopping. The only thing we absolutely have to do is vacate the house by 10am.

Don’t miss out on this chance to adventure in such a sweet spot with a great community of adventurers! The cost includes location location location Acadia National Park!, 3 nights accommodations, breakfasts & dinners, daily yoga, rock climbing, sunset sail, hiking, wicked views, good vibes and more! (Please be sure to be fully vaccinated at the time of adventuring to make it safe and easy for all involved.)

Cost: $650 twin; $750 solo queen; $850 solo king; $950 shared queen (total price for two adventurers); $1050 shared king (total price for two adventurers)

$200/solo Saturday including breakfast & dinner, rock climbing, yoga, chill time at the adventure house, sunset sail

To register, please choose to add to cart below or payment is available via VENMO or a good ol’ check in the mail :)

Please contact Holly for pricing alternatives if you can not join the adventure until a later time i.e. making the 3-night adventure a 2-nighter. MYA is flexible and open to options.

Please be aware of MYA’s cancellation policy - thanks!

Hike & Dip: Deer Isle Adventure

Come and explore the beauty of nature in Deer Isle with MYA! Adventurers will enjoy hiking, swimming, exploring, yoga, vegetarian food, and more…

To warm us up and ready ourselves for a three hike day, our adventure will begin at Crockett Cove Woods to experience a self-guided nature trail, an easy mile or so long. All can put on their amateur naturalist caps as we learn about this '100-acre wood' and sanctuary filled with a variety of ferns, mosses, and lichens. Famed designer and painter Emily Muir donated this magical parcel of land to The Nature Conservancy.

crockett-cove-2.jpg

Adventurers will then head over to the Barred Island Preserve Trailhead maintained by the Island Heritage Trust, about 7 minutes away, to a perfectly timed tide for lots of exploring. After hiking an easy 1.5 miles thru the beautiful mossy coastal woods we can dip our toes in the sea and play along the shoreline. There’s a gorgeous sandbar that leads to the island and we’ll be able to cross over without a problem. There are great big rocks which are perfect for lounging and climbing around. And, yes, we’ll get a couple yoga practices in as well on both the sandbar and the big rock platforms.

This area makes for a nice spot for a picnic and MYA will be presenting and helping eat a vegetarian feast! After cleaning up we’ll hit the trail again moving through those enchanting woods.

Adventurers will then move on to some wicked fun at Nervous Nellie’s Jams & Jellies (keeping in mind social distancing & mask wearing requirements) - it’s a family favorite! Adventurers can explore the woods filled with intricate and funky sculptures by artist Peter Beerit. There’s a gift shop with jams and jellies for sale. It’s a unique spot with many opportunities for photo shoots!

After playtime at Nellie’s, adventurers will head out to the third hike of the day at Shore Acres Preserve with another opportunity to take in the lushness of the woods, unique salt marsh areas and the cool waters along the edges. This is another gentle hike of 1.5 miles, a lovely loop to take our time upon. We’ll definitely look for seals on the off-shore ledges where they’re known for basking in the sun.

We had a blast the first time so, MYA is headed back to the beautiful White Mountains region of New Hampshire for a wicked fun packed weekend adventure including ziplining, nighttime ice castle exploring, state park exploring, downhill skiing (cross country if you prefer), snowshoeing, yoga, vegetarian food and more…

Friday eve will get settled into our fabulous accommodations across from Loon Mountain in the White Mountain National Forest. The private home boasts an expansive cathedral ceiling entry with stone accents running up through the main living area to the gas fireplace hearth to the third floor's Knotty Pine ceiling. The kitchen with warm wood tones and granite counters features SS appliances and a large granite Island. Sarah Joughin will be your fab vegetarian cook along with her assistant, daughter Ruby :) The oak hardwood floor warmly flows through the kitchen/dining and living rooms. Adjoining the living room is a large space with its own cozy enamel gas wood stove with sliding doors to the expansive Loon facing front deck.

Adventurers will have plenty of room with six bedrooms, two with king beds, one with a queen bed, two twins in two of the rooms as well as a game room with a twin over full bunk bed. While every room boasts gorgeous views, all bathrooms are wrapped with tile floors and tile accents up the walls - there’s also a two-person jacuzzi tub to take turns relaxing in. Casetta al Padule will be our private oasis for a full week. MYA will offer breakfasts and dinners to adventurers - we'll keep our options open for lunches dependent on where our adventuring takes us. Wine tastings! Olive oil tastings! Nature walks! Thermal pools!

Decorative details of the casetta feature the local yellow Sienese marble – a buttery stone marbled with ochre and bronze veins. The open layout is perfect for our group, and its location next to a pasture provides lovely morning views of cows grazing as the fog lifts from the valley. Four bedrooms create space for eight lucky adventurers!

The kitchen will be stocked for preparing delicious Tuscan style meals. A large covered terrace at the back of the house will highlight outdoor dining and gathering. Dinners will be split between the casetta and Spannocchia restaurant for a fully immersive experience.

Adventurers will be sure to enjoy yoga every day, an excursion either on or beyond the property, and free time to simply soak in the atmosphere (and soak in the pool!). Our group will have an onsite cooking class as well as a wine tasting.

MYA will have two vehicles for ease off-site adventuring. We'll enjoy a day in the city of Siena, explore quaint villages, connect with culture, art and nature. Some possibilities...

San Galgano: Visit the remarkable circular chapel of Monte Siepi, site of the miraculous sword in the stone of Saint Galgano. A wine bar with outdoor seating and a terrific view of the valley and mountains to the west, holds the perfect spot for a sunset aperitivo.
Hot Springs: Relax at Antica Querciolaia thermal spa and Terme di San GIovanni hotel and thermal pools. Indulge in large heated pools - spa treatments are available! Entrance fee is about 15 Euro per adventurer. If we get our timing just right, baths are open late so we can experience thermal baths under the stars!
Colle Val d'elsa: Soak in this charming town off the beaten path with an incredible vegetarian restaurant and open air market on Fridays. And very close by is Colombaia, Biodynamic vineyard, a small production vineyard with incredible organic wines.
San Gimignano: Climb 15 of the original 72 towers that rise above the skyline for an impressive view of the surrounding countryside. The city developed according to a characteristic star-shaped plan along the ancient via Francigena.
Pienza: The city of cacio, cheese, MYA doesn't want to miss this! Adventurers may need cacio to go along with all of the splendid chianti we'll be tasting in the region.

Cost: $1,800 before Feb 1; $2,000 after Feb 1. Adventurers choose to pay $1,000 deposit or pay full adventure cost.

Cost does not include flight - the airport with closest proximity to Spannocchia is Florence but adventurers can fly into Rome and grab a ride in the rental car (Holly and other adventurers have committed to Rome on Friday and traveling to Siena on Saturday - joining us is definitely an option!). Feel free to come early or stay later to add more adventure time in Italy....
