Oh la la we were Sold Out but now, MYA is opening it up to 4 more adventurers - we’ll have two groups summiting this season!
Embrace your sense of adventure with a wintertime ascent of Katahdin with MYA and Acadia Mountain Guides! This will be our second time up the mountain and space goes fast…
The remote location and arctic environment of Katahdin makes it one of the most rewarding winter alpine ascents in New England. Reaching the summit at any time of year is awesome but in winter it holds more magic and less people.
Our climb begins with a half-day snowshoe or ski to the base of the mountain where winter camping skills and mountaineering skills are taught. We start the climb the next morning and return back to trailhead by early evening.
This trip is physically demanding but requires no experience. Adventurers are lead by winter mountaineering guides.
Included in the adventure is climbing instruction, park fees, micro spikes, crampons, ice axe, avalanche safety equipment when necessary, double boots, skis, snowshoes, dinner, breakfast, and -20 degree sleeping bags.
Holly, Founder of MYA will toss in yoga whenever time permits. We'll be sure to get in some deep breaths and stretching - the climbing boots make it pretty sweet to balance!
Adventurers are responsible for their own clothing, lunch, and snacks. All climbers receive 15% off for life at Alpenglow Adventure Sports at 92 Main Street, Orono and at AlpenglowGear.com. We’ll have a meetup, a gear shakedown, in the store prior to hitting the ascent to make sure every adventurer is prepared, time and date to be announced.
As we never know what the weather and mountain will provide for conditions during the climb, sometimes it is pleasant and sunny, others its windy with whiteout conditions; adventurers can choose to spend Sunday eve at a hotel in Millinocket.
Cost: $275. To commit to the challenge, simply add to cart below.
