Snowbound Yurt Adventure

  • Yurt Easton, Maine (map)

MYA is headed up to Northern Maine for a fabulous weekend of snowshoeing, snowga, skiing both ways (optional!), yummy vegetarian food, and more…

Adventurers will lodge together in a quaint yurt on lovely property. This sweet spot is located in Easton and was established to offer a place of relief from a fast-paced lifestyle. The yurt is cozy, comfortable and a great place to rest and relax while enjoying the outdoors. The space is unplugged yet the perfect opportunity for connection, made warm by the wood stove, starlit by the dome skylight, and unique in it’s the perfect color of turquoise.

Arrival time is flexible, if you can’t slip away until later, no worries, we’ll have plenty of fun and food in the evening :) Adventurers will have access to 120 acres of hiking, snowshoeing & cross-country ski trails right out the door, including the Canadian Border Trail, land peppered with beautiful spruce and apple trees.

For Friday’s skiing pleasure, adventurers are welcome to hit Big Rock Mountain on Mars Hill, a fifteen minute drive away from the yurt, fun! MYA is happy to cover lift tickets for adventurers that are into downhill skiing otherwise we’ll meet you at the yurt by late afternoon. Bring along your snowshoes and cross-country skis if you have them, if not, rentals are available. There’s also tubbing as an option - wicked!

MYA will be using the yurt’s kitchen space to whip up tasty vegetarian dinners and breakfasts. Lunches will be open to adventurers and most likely up to where our adventures take us, either in town or on the slopes or at the yurt. Leftovers are usually an option too!

Saturday and Sunday will be snowga and ski fundays! No worries about snowga, it’s just yoga in the snow (usually with snowshoes), experience is not a necessity. A sense of humor is best as well as snowpants on the looser side! We can partner for balancing postures, always a hoot. No worries if you don’t have snowshoes, MYA can help.

On Saturday after breakfast and snowga on the beautiful landscape, we’ll head to the Nordic Heritage Center, less than 20 minutes away. The NHC, a jewel in the crown of Maine, embodies the best of Aroostook County: a place of incomparable beauty. The center offers up snowshoe and cross-country ski rentals. If you have your own skis and snowshoes, bring them along. You can choose the activity that you’re most comfortable with, just being outside in nature should bring on therapeutic goodness. And, there’s a sauna, let’s hope that it’ll be open to warm us up!

MYA has really enjoyed NHC in season’s past, the trail network is expansive and heavenly, so nicely maintained. This is a wonderful organization that MYA is proud to support and will offer up a portion of the adventure proceeds to their cause.

Sundayfunday we’ll save for more explorations from our yurt after another yummy breakfast.

Don’t miss out on a fun weekend adventure opting outside!
