Start off your December with MYA on a stress reliever of an adventure! We’ll get physical and connect with the outdoors on a hike in Clifton and follow it up with a relaxing paint & sip - sweet!
We’ll begin with an amazing moderate level hike, Eagle Bluff. The weather will help adventurers decide what they need for the day, perhaps just hiking boots, perhaps an add-on of crampons (little spikes for extra grip). MYA’s Holly has hiked here in all kinds of weather, it’s wonderful no matter what.
A wooded path leads up to cool glacial erratics, further on the path is up against a dramatic rock face (some rock climbers love this spot), passes by a cave that makes for a great place to pause and breath it all in, and eventually there’s the top which will either have incredibly impressive views for days or clouds that make the view quite mysterious and lovely as well. There is only one small section that requires a bit of scrambling up but no worries, we’ll take it slow. We’ll also get some yoga happening along the way, it’s always fun to practice outside!
Following the hike, we’ll head to a private residence close to downtown Orono for a painting session with Travis Baker, TravisBK Art. Adventurers will be creating their own masterpieces on driftwood either to keep for themselves or gift to loved ones. We’ll work small and make a few with plenty of guidance by Travis. He’ll offer up some samples that you can choose either to copy or you’re more than welcome to go rogue and do your own thing! Travis’s son Augi painted the mystery bird below pictured along with Travis’s own driftwood art…
There will be plenty of sipping happening with our arting! MYA will also present yummy vegetarian soup to nourish everyone after hiking and so no one is hangry whilst creating their masterpieces.
Cost: $55 includes all materials, instruction, food, drink, yoga, hiking excursion, and general merriment
Adventurers can decide if it’s easier to meet in Orono for carpooling or meet up on site in Clifton, directions and more details will come post-registration. Please feel free to contact Holly with any questions!
