Tunk & Tapas Adventure

Join MYA on an awesome hike up Tunk Mountain with views for days! It will be a beautiful spot to see the foliage as it’s starting to burst. We’ll visit a few ponds for dipping toes in and get in a yummy picnic with plenty of vegetarian tapas as well.

The adventure begins at the trailhead for Tunk and we’ll head off to the summit on a not too difficult moderate hike with a couple rungs and a bit of rock scrambling (it’s worth it!) - we’ll take our time and enjoy the sweet views along the way. There are two sides to the summit to explore which makes the mountain even more unique and lovely.

After practicing some yoga on the immense rock slabs, adventurers will head out to the Hidden Ponds loop which is just as stunning as the summit trail without the added exertion of uphill. We’ll be sure to have our bathing suits packed just in case the weather lends itself to a dip. In total, the hike is 3.6 out & back and we’ll add in an extra mile for some extra non-strenuous goodness as we stroll the loop.

Adventurers will then hike out of Tunk trails and head over to yet another beautiful pond for yummy vegetarian picnicking. We’ll hop in our car for a few minutes drive and lay out our blankie by the water to fill our bellies. This will be another opportunity to dip those toes in :)

Don’t miss out on this super fun Sunday of fresh air explorations, crazy views & tapas treats!

Cost: $45

Hiking & Picnicking: Mount Chase Adventure

Don’t miss out on a super fab Sundayfunday! MYA is taking on the gorgeous waterfall trail to the summit of Mount Chase and enjoying a gourmet vegetarian picnic post hike. Yoga will happen spontaneously throughout the adventure :)

The adventure begins at the Mount Chase waterfall trailhead, adventurers will be carpooling and making sure that no one gets lost along the way. We’ll get in some yoga to get us ready for the hike which can be steep and scrambly in sections; please know that this hike can be strenuous but adventurers will be taking their time breathing in the beauty.

The 1.7-mile trail (one way) begins at the intersection of Mountain Road and the Shin Pond ATV trail. MYA is opting for the waterfall trail which will link to the mountain trail and Eagle’s Point is an offshoot trail to another pretty view that we can decide to take in the moment (weather & energy levels to consider). Just know that the hike will be under 5 miles. No matter what, the views are spectacular up top with Katahdin & fellow mountains in the distance.

Mount Chase was the site of a fire tower for many years; two towers have been built on the summit. The first built in 1909 was a wooden structure then replaced with a sixteen-foot steel tower that was removed in 2001. The old fire warden’s cabin comes into view along the way as well as the cabin where the watchmen lived which has fallen into major disarray but is super cool to take a look at. The are plenty of places to pause, there’s no rush up the mountain.

Adventurers will picnic at Lower Shin Pond and if time permits, take a short hike into Shin Falls; a fifteen minute hike to a 30 foot waterfall is very enticing!

Cost: $45. includes yummy food, yoga, wicked hikes, fab views & all around good vibes

To register for this adventure, payment is available via VENMO (@maineyogaadventures_), check/cash, or add to cart below...

Please be sure to check out MYA’s cancellation policy - thanks.

Cancelled! Sorry my adventurous friends, I guess we’ve played out our visits to Lubec or I just picked a bad weekend :)

MYA is heading downeast for another spectacular hiking, yoga, and yummy food adventure with beautiful accommodations at the Inn on the Wharf! We’ll definitely be hitting Cutler for the super fab trail that this adventure is named after, a dramatic hike that you won’t want to miss…

IMG_2306.JPG

Adventurers will spend the weekend hiking along coastal trails with views for days. We’ll begin on the bold coast trail on Saturday morning - the cliffs are breathtaking, the colors of the water are astounding, the woods are magical and the rocks are wicked fun to scramble upon. We can decide as a group if we’d like to tackle the Fairy Head Loop (10.4 miles) or the Black Point Brook Loop (5.5 miles). As cool as it is along the shore, the woods are really cool too as we’re sure to see frogs, salamanders and unique plants along the way. This is an intermediate hike but we will definitely take it slow to enjoy the majesty that is the stunning bold coast trail.

Accommodations this season are again at the Inn On The Wharf, a renovated 106 yr old sardine factory. Adventurers will stay ‘on the hill’ in wicked sweet rooms with wood floors, balconies and water views. It’s the perfect little getaway spot! We’ll enjoy a feeling of being on the sea with our bayside rooms - the tides rise and fall a dramatic 26 feet. Arrival time is flexible!

Please be sure to bring along some healthy snacks to keep energy up for lots of hiking and nature explorations. We’ll definitely stop by the Lubec Brewing Company for a beverage either Friday or Saturday or both!

Sunday will be another full day of exploring - Lubec offers an astounding amount of nature from beaches to forest, ponds to bogs, cliff sides to gardens. Adventurers will enjoy Quoddy Head State Park for some of the best wildlife watching in the state and West Quoddy Head Light, in all of it’s candy-striped fabulousness. If we have time, adventurers may also get out to Boot Head Preserve, another gorgeous trail!

Acadia Adventure: Hiking & Paddleboarding

Sold out - thanks adventurers!

Get in on a three-night adventure in Maine’s Acadia National Park known for its dramatic landscapes from the mountains to the lakes to the shorelines. Adventurers will be busy playing outside hiking and paddling with all of those fun things in between like mountain top yoga, paddleboard yoga, vegetarian food feasting, wine tastings, a schooner sunset sail, tide pooling and more…

IMG_4507.jpeg

MYA will welcome you with open arms at high season in Acadia with fab accommodations that are extremely hard to come by! Tuesday will be a flexible arrival time, no worries if you can’t get to us until sundown, we’ll be there ready to feed you no matter what :)

Adventurers will have time to settle in and relax into the lovely Harbourside Inn. Such a delightful place nestled on a wooded hillside in the village of Northeast Harbor. Built in the shingle style popular to the Maine coast, the inn offers up rooms with their own distinct character, charm, and comfort. The inn is locally owned and operated by generations of the Sweet family for over 40 years.

Conveniently located, yet off the beaten path, adventurers will be just a few minutes walk from the quaint village of Northeast Harbor and a 15 minute drive away from Bar Harbor.  The village has many locally owned shops, art galleries and restaurants offering an array of Maine made gifts and fare. The Northeast Harbor hiking trails are accessible right from our backyard and will take us to Lower Hadlock Pond and other sites for nature explorations.

We’ll start out our first night just right with an outdoor clean-crafted wine tasting in the backyard (Holly is a wine consultant with Scout & Cellar) paired with yummy appetizers. Adventurers can try out one of our local walking paths then settle into a divine vegetarian dinner prepared by Anna Olsen, a super awesome MYA cook. Anna can work with any and all dietary needs, food allergies and preferences.

Post dinner we may want to head into Acadia for a sunset hike or stroll down to the harbor or hit the closest beach for a dip :) Whatever adventurers would like to do, MYA is up for it!

The morning will begin with a super tasty MYA breakfast to get adventurers fortified for hiking in Acadia National Park. First up is the fab Beech Mountain Trail - this trail leads up the side of the cliffs with beautiful views and a ladder rung or two; a moderate hike.

When adventurers arrive at the top of the cliffs we’ll practice yoga on a great slab of rocks in the sunshine. The view is well worth the hike. Far below, people on the beach will seem like little ants and we’ll see Greening Island and the house where Henry Wadsworth Longfellow stayed with the Great Cranberry Island beyond. Southwest Harbor will also be in view from the top. And that sweet town is definitely on our list for visiting!

Post-hike adventurers will then have relaxation, snacks, and optional swim time at Echo Lake Beach. It’s so nice to splash around after heating up hiking. If energy levels are good, we may even get some stretching in on the sand. Another option depending on the wind, can be dropping in boats if adventurers bring them along for our stay. Holly will have a few paddleboards, her favorite way to play in the water but canoes and kayaks are welcome as well.

We’ll have options in the afternoon on what we’d like to do, perhaps another hike, Holly is into Precipice if others are up for it! Please know that this is an exposed and almost vertical 1,000 foot climb up the east face of Champlain Mountain. The trail is only recommended for physically fit and experienced hikers who have no fear of heights.

Beehive is an awesome one too, short & sweet and dramatic views from this steep trail with ladders. We can also hit Sand Beach from there for a quick dip in the sea. If adventurers would like a bit less of a height challenge, the Jordan Pond shore trail is quite nice on its own or packaged up with one of the Bubbles. Flying Mountain is another close by beauty that has a lovely cove at the base where loons are known to swim and peregrines fly thru the cliffs.

Simply chilling at our lovely inn, taking a stroll in the woods or giving into some good ol’ relaxation is another option as well as taking your fav watercraft (or Holly’s paddleboards) to another nearby drop in spot.

Adventurers will enjoy another fabulous spread by Anna followed up by a stroll to the Asticou Azalea Gardens, a Japanese inspired tranquil environment. We’ll take our time breathing in the greenery and floral scents, strolling thru bird song in this beautiful oasis.

As darkness sets in we can get in some nighttime stargazing adventuring which is still pretty great in Acadia! We may want to hit the epic sunset on Cadillac, we’ll check the weather for the clearest sky, it is a truly extraordinary experience.

On Thursday after a delish breakfast and a gentle yoga practice, adventurers will head out for a standup paddleboarding tour. We’ll meet up with a guide at a location with low wind and off the beaten path, hugging the shoreline and enjoying nature. Holly will be sure to throw in some yoga poses along the way - no experience necessary! We’ll all have some fun and be prepared if we happen to fall in :)

Post-paddling, adventurers will have some free time to relax then decide on more activities such as a hike or biking or a swim (or napping!). Dinnertime will sure to be awesome with local as possible and wicked fresh ingredients. Adventurers will be eating early because a schooner sunset sail, a downeast windjammer cruise, will be the perfect way to bring on the night. Please let Holly know if that is not a good option for you, sea sickness is no joke.

Friday will be adventurer’s choice - there is so much to do in this area and there may be something that you simply don’t want to miss. If we haven’t gotten it in yet, tide pooling in Acadia is super fun and there are some sweet leisurely hikes surrounding the pools. Any of the seaside trails are stunning and also perfect for dipping the toes in on a hot August day. More paddleboarding is always an option!

The only thing we absolutely have to do is vacate the inn by 11am.

Don’t miss out on this chance to adventure in such a sweet spot with a great community of adventurers! The cost includes 3 nights accommodations at the inn, vegetarian breakfasts & dinners, wine tastings, yoga sessions, paddleboarding, sunset sail, hiking, good vibes and more! (Please be sure to be fully vaccinated at the time of adventuring to make it safe and easy for all involved.)

Cost: $825 twin; $950 solo queen; $1300 shared queen (total price for two adventurers)

$200/solo Thursday including breakfast & dinner, stand up paddleboarding tour, yoga, chill time at the inn, sunset sail

To register, payment is available via VENMO (@maineyogaadventures_) or a good ol’ check in the mail. If you prefer to pay by credit card, MYA can make that happen as well.

Adventurers will be busy playing outside hiking and rock climbing with all of those fun things in between like paddling, tide pooling, chillin in the hammock, mountain top yoga, vegetarian food feasting, a schooner sunset sail and more.

IMG_4507.jpeg

Thursday will be a flexible arrival time, no worries if you can’t get to us until sundown, we’ll be there ready to feed you no matter what :) Adventurers will have time to settle in and relax into a lovely home in Manset, Southwest Harbor. Such a delightful place right on the water, away from the hubbub, with the perfect setting for yoga, and a divine porch for sipping wine & relaxing. That sunset is going to be outstanding! The view encompasses the entrance to Somes Sound, inner and outer islands, as well as the western and eastern mountains of Acadia National Park.

We’ll literally be minutes away from fantastic outdoor activities with the park surrounding the property. Ship Harbor Nature Trail, Bass Harbor Light, Echo Lake Beach, and some of the most scenic hikes in the park, including summit trails up Acadia, St Sauveur, Mansell, Beach Cliff, Flying Mountain and more.

The 1903 house is a classic oceanfront wood shingled 'cottage,' with ocean views from nearly every window. Very easy to access the outdoors from the fabulous wrap around porch overlooking the secluded pebble beach. The 3-story home has plenty of room with 6 bedrooms, a large living room with panoramic ocean view, a formal dining room, and eat-in kitchen. With fine crafted woodwork throughout, comfy window seats, wood burning fireplaces, a piano, books, games and puzzles galore, the house is super sweet for adventurers.

The house also has a gas grill, private dock, hammock and outdoor furniture to lounge around on. Adventurers can explore the ever-changing tidal pools or beach comb along the large cobblestone beach. There’s even a private nature trail, the Deer Path, that winds throughout the property. Nature comes to you in this wonderful spot, with sightings of deer, fox and raccoon, as well as otter, seal, dolphin, osprey and an occasional bald eagle. Another huge plus is that a few steps out the door adventurers can catch the Cranberry Cove Ferry to the outer islands or jump in the car to close by hiking trails, carriage roads, island beaches, and in-town shops.

We’ll have options in the afternoon on what we’d like to do, perhaps another hike, Holly is into Precipice if others are up for it (if it’s open - nesting peregrines). If adventurers would like a bit less of a height challenge, the Jordan Pond shore trail is quite nice on its own or packaged up with one of the Bubbles or Pemetic Mtn. Flying mountain is 10 minutes away and super fun as well!

We could also head back to our seaside abode to stroll amongst the tidal pools or take it easy in the hammock, and some good ol’ relaxation. Another option is taking your fav watercraft to Somes sound for a paddle perhaps dropping in right in front of our place if the water is calm enough.

Adventurers will enjoy another fabulous vegetarian dinner by Sarah, awesome MYA cook and we can get in some nighttime adventuring of stargazing which is still pretty great in Acadia and beyond!

MYA is returning to the 100-Mile Wilderness to hike glorious Borestone Mountain with views for days and beautiful Gulf Hagas with jaw dropping waterfalls!

The adventure begins as we gather in Greenville at our own private wood cabin on loon lake - Moosehead Hills Sunrise Lodge (a bit larger than last year’s Loon Lodge). The cabin is tucked away on Loon Lake with incredible views and nature trails just outside the door. We’ll have three bedrooms, a large kitchen space and living room with a cozy fireplace as well as three bathrooms, one of which has a whirlpool bathtub. If adventurers need to arrive later than 3pm, no worries!

Saturday morning we'll head out to Borestone Mountain Sanctuary, encompassing more than 1,600 acres in Maine's Hundred Mile Wilderness region, the area offers a spectacular array of natural features, including rare older forest, crystalline ponds, exposed granite crags and sweeping panoramic views.

From the nature center at Sunrise Pond, adventurers will head to the summit on a moderately strenuous climb that culminates in spectacular 360-degree views from two peaks at nearly 2,000 feet. We'll get in the Peregrine Trail as well upon our return, through mossy woods to breathe in more stunning views. The hike will take approximately 3 1/2 hours - 4 hours. Our cabin will be a haven as we relax, rejuvenate and prepare for Gulf Hagas on Sunday Funday!

The Grand Canyon of Maine, Gulf Hagas is a slate gorge carved out by the West Branch of the Pleasant River. Over the course of three miles, the river drops about 500 feet, forming mesmerizing waterfalls and swimming holes. Dramatic rock walls that border the river can get as high as 100 feet tall. Last year we took the trailhead via the backroads close to the lodge which was amazing but there are a few trail options, as a group, we can decide which trail suits us best. No matter what, Gulf Hagas is a very special place with unique canyonesque views.

Adventure space is limited! The Sunrise Lodge offers two private rooms with king beds and a shared room with two bunk beds.

The hike is moderate, about four miles round trip. Beginners are absolutely welcome, we set the pace, no worries. We’ll hike the flat carriage trail along the water before ascending up the Indian trail enjoying several captivating views along the way.

The Bridle trail is next up before reaching the summit. We can take a snack break and breathe in the sights and sounds of nature.

There’s a great slice of landscape for some yoga as well - let’s hope for more brilliant sunshine this season to bring into our open heart space! Please know that the yoga practices will be gentle and all are welcome :)

Following up our snack and yogic frolic, we’ll hit the summit. For breathtaking 360º views adventurers can climb the fire tower - please know that this is definitely optional for those challenged by heights.

As a perfect end to a perfect hike, we’ll have a super yummy vegetarian picnic. We may want to get in another yoga practice on flatter ground as well to simply stretch out the hike. 100-Mile Wilderness Adventure

  • Moosehead Hills Loon Lodge (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

MYA is heading back to hike glorious Borestone Mountain near the southern end of Maine’s 100-Mile Wilderness! Adventurers will explore beautiful Gulf Hagas with amazing hiking and waterfalls as well.

The adventure begins as we gather in Greenville at our own private wood cabin on loon lake - Moosehead Hills Loon Lodge. The cabin has incredible views with nothing less than majestic Mt. Kineo across the water. Situated in a peaceful spot with plenty of autumnal colors to take in, adventurers will enjoy yoga practices, healthy vegetarian food, hiking, nighttime explorations and more.

As a group, we can decide which trail suits us best. Family MYA made it to Screw Auger Falls in 2016 :)

Adventure space is limited! Our Loon Lodge offers two private rooms with king beds and a shared room with two bunk beds w/ full beds on the bottom and twins on top.

Cost includes 2 nights accommodations, yoga practices, vegetarian dinners & breakfasts...

$500/shared king (total price for 2 adventurers); $400/solo king; $350/full; $300/twin
