Canceled: Outdoorsy Soaking & Skiing Santas Adventure

Sadness, had to cancel this adventure but hoping to get to the wonderful adventure house in Bethel sometime in the future :)

MYA is headed to Western Maine for some wicked fun, we’ll get in lots of outside time, relaxation in the hot tub, yoga, yummy eats, and skiing in your best Santa outfit! If we get some early snow (fingers crossed!), we’ll partake in snowtastic activities of snowga and cross-country skiing; if not, we can enjoy the hiking in the area which is fabulous. The final frolic will be downhill skiing at Sunday River if you’re up for it…

Friday afternoon/evening arrival time is flexible, there will be a happy hour and MYA will be offering up yummy vegetarian soup and more whenever the time is right. If you need to come late, no worries, we’ll feed you :) Adventurers have a private home to lounge and relax in; the 1870 farm home is in the heart of downtown Bethel with 4 bedrooms that sleep 12 comfortably with 2 bathrooms. A fav amenity is the hot tub which adventurers can indulge in whenever they like.

We can experience all that the sweet small town has to offer just minutes away from the home. We’ll be close to Gould Academy which makes for a very nice, walkable neighborhood with many surrounding farm-style residences; our prime location is very close to the local grocery store and numerous delightful restaurants.

Once we get closer and know what the weather holds, adventurers can decide to bring along your cross-country skis (definitely downhill skis or a snowboard) or snowshoes and get on the trails about a 15 minute walk away. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in Bethel is lovely, the fat biking trails may be groomed as well. Adventurers can even pop over to Carter’s Cross-Country Ski Center for more beautiful trails. If you need gear, please let MYA know. Don’t forget your sense of humor, your best snowsuit, and your best Santa suit!

After a yoga practice, a delicious breakfast, and outdoors activities on Saturday, folks can head into town for some free time or hang in the hot tub or cozy up on the couch. MYA will be handling a second vegetarian dinner in the evening.

Sundayfunday we’ll get up early for breakfast and yoga, and head out to Sunday River in Newry, just a ten minute drive. In full Santa attire (red Santa hat with white pompom, red Santa jacket, red Santa pants and Santa beard), we will celebrate the arrival of winter and the upcoming holiday season with more than 250 Santas cruising down to South Ridge! All money raised benefits the River Fund, a non-profit organization that supports youth education and recreation in the Bethel area. MYA will register adventurers ahead of time (open Nov 28th so please be sure to register for this adventure well in advance).

Adventurers will be sure to show up at the scheduled photo shoot at 11am, slopeside at South Ridge all dressed up. After the photo shoot, we will all go up South Ridge Express and then ski down Broadway, a beginner-friendly green trail. After the parade down Broadway, your ticket can get validated for the rest of the day and will receive an additional lift ticket valid until Christmas Eve. Super excited, MYA has always wanted to get in on the Santa Sunday!

Don’t miss out on this crazy fun, yummy, relaxing weekend in beautiful Bethel and beyond. If you’d like to come but want to opt out of the downhill Santa portion, no worries, there will be lots of quality adventuring time without it and you can always watch Santas coming down the mountain from the bottom :)

Cost: $400, includes two nights accommodations, two vegetarian dinners & breakfasts, happy hour, daily yoga, snowga, hot tubbing, night strolling, Santa Sunday, good vibes, great company

To register, please choose to add to cart below or payment is available via VENMO (@maineyogaadventures_) or a good ol’ check in the mail :)

Ice Castles, Skiing & Wicked Resort Vibing Adventure

MYA is going to Lincoln, NH to do all the things! We’ll be visiting glowing ice castles, skiing (cross-country and/or downhill), snowshoeing, practicing snowga, ice skating, hot tubbing, pool swimming, sledding, vegetarian food eating, and so much more…

Arrival time is flexible, we’ll begin our adventure by settling into our majestic accommodations. Adventurers will be staying in two suites at the super fab Riverwalk Resort (Holly has stayed there with her boys and fell in love with it!); it is jam-packed with all of the fun wintertime necessities. We’ll have a full kitchen (2) for homemade soups, balconies for daydreaming, and full access to an indoor hot tub, an outdoor hot tub, an outdoor heated pool, an ice rink, a firepit, fitness center, a spa if you’d like to partake in more self-care, and we’re steps away from an awesome brewery and a short drive to a winery.

Friday night we’ll enjoy happy hour with appetizers & wine and when the time is right, we’ll settle into a delicious vegetarian dinner. We can pop outdoors for a snowga session (yoga in the snow) before heading to sleep. Of course we’ll find time for skating & hot tubbing! Other than a set time for a visit to the Ice Castles on Saturday, adventurers can decide if they want a wicked active adventure or want a laid back adventure.

Saturday morning will begin with a wholesome breakfast to prepare adventurers for the day. This day can be an opportunity to hit Loon Mountain for either downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, or tubing. Adventurers can purchase their downhill skiing tickets online ahead of time for possible discounts. Snowshoeing is another option that is close by and gorgeous in the area. The Lincoln Woods Trail is a local favorite, 2.6-mile out-and-back trail, that is built on a former logging railway that runs along the riverbed. The trail is gently inclined, great for beginners. Maybe you just want to chill more in the hot tubs and heated pool :)

No matter what, we’ll all come back together to eat yummy vegetarian food before heading out for nighttime revelry - a visit to the Ice Castles! Adventurers will explore icy layers and tunnels in a cool version of Frozen. The castles are enshrouded in an aurora borealis and lit from within in a rainbow of colors. Let’s get in some yoga with the ice!

We can definitely stroll over to the brewery for a pint on our way ‘home’. There is a trail alongside the river that we can access for a sweet walk or a quickie nighttime ski, don’t forget your headlamp!

Post yummy eats in the morn, Sunday funday can be adventurer’s choice as well. In the past we’ve checked out Franconia Notch State Park and loved snowshoeing in to see The Flume, a super cool site of flowing water and thick ice and snow. If you need to get in some wintertime ziplining, Alpine Zipline is the place you may want to check out to book ahead of time. Another terrific option that MYA had an excellent time at is the White Mountain Bike Shop where you can cross-country ski, snowshoe, fat bike, and/or go sledding. The passes are very affordable and well worth it. No matter what, we’ll be getting in yoga practices in our boots, in our snowshoes, or even inside, let’s wait and see what the weather holds (lots of snow!).

Space is limited but MYA will get more rooms if more adventurers would like to stay & play! Don’t miss out on a yoga adventure in the beautiful White Mountains with lots of wintertime playtime…

Join MYA in Kennebec Valley for riverside snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowga, luxurious spa time, a cozy overnight stay, yummy vegetarian food and more…

Our adventure begins at Quarry Road Trails in Waterville with a beautiful snowshoe hike along the river. We’ll enjoy nature, taking in the forest, the snow, the water, and the wildlife we spot along the way. Our hike will be at a slow pace, beginner snowshoe adventurers are welcome! If you’re not a skier, there are more snowshoe trails if that’s more your speed :)

Please know that If you don’t have snowshoes or skis, there are options that MYA can hook you up with.

Skiing & Snowga: Adventuring to The County

MYA is headed up to northern Maine, aka the county, for a fabulous weekend of snowshoeing, snowga, skiing both ways, yummy vegetarian food, and more…

This adventure can be split up - adventurers can decide to come on Saturday or Sunday or can choose the full weekend (the whole shebang!). Both days we’ll be enjoying yoga in the snow, snowshoeing, and skiing! We had such a great time playing outside in the snow last year, MYA couldn’t resist a return to the county for more fun!

For Saturday’s skiing pleasure, we’ll hit Big Rock Mountain for a downhill experience in Mars Hill. MYA is happy to support a small Maine local ski establishment - the staff is great and the trails are awesome. We really had a blast on the mountain last season and are hoping for another great time.

MYA will cover lift tickets for adventurers that are into it. If you’re a beginner, no worries, it’s a great spot to learn or to get ski legs back that haven’t been on a mountain in years. Please know if you’d like to adventure without going downhill, that’s no problem, tubing is an option as well :)

Following alpine fabulousness, we’ll head to Aroostook State Park for hot chocolate, yummy eats and snowga! Adventurers can also decide to hit the trails with snowshoes or cross-country skis for a quickie excursion before either heading home or heading to downtown Presque Isle. MYA will check in to the charming Northeastland Hotel, set apart from chain hotels with its vibrant and rich history. Adventurers will be in their own private rooms with all covid protocols in place.

For Sunday’s adventuring, we’ll head to the Nordic Heritage Center, about 20 minutes away from downtown Presque Isle. The NHC, a jewel in the crown of Maine, embodies the best of Aroostook County: a place of incomparable beauty…

nordic3.jpg

The center offers up snowshoe and cross-country ski rentals. If you have your own skis and snowshoes, bring them along and if you want to try fat bikes on the trails, that’s another fun way to indulge in the snow. You can absolutely choose the activity that you’re most comfortable with, just being outside in nature should bring on therapeutic goodness.

And, of course we’ll get in some snowga! MYA really enjoyed NHC last season, the trails were heavenly, so nicely maintained. This is another wonderful organization that MYA is proud to support and will offer up a portion of the adventure proceeds to their cause.

Don’t miss out on a fantastic weekend adventure opting outside in a beautiful place! Bring all of your wintertime gear and we’ll make some magic happen…

Play in the Snow: Quarry Road Trails Adventure

Join MYA for a super fun adventure that moves from daylight to night on the Quarry Road Trails in Waterville!

IMG_1543.jpg

Our adventure begins with a beautiful snowshoe hike along the river. We’ll enjoy nature, taking in the forest, the snow, the water, and the wildlife we spot along the way. Our hike will be at a slow pace, beginner snowshoe adventurers are welcome! Let’s hope for a good storm to powder up the trails but enough open water so we can see the ducks.

Next up we’ll get in some snowga (yoga in the snow with snowshoes) to stretch out our hiking legs and get in a few laughs whilst balancing.

Following all of that work comes food! MYA will bring along a crockpot of vegetarian soup and some other yummies to eat.

If you’re spent and ready to watch the sunset and go, that’s up to you but if you’re into it … we’re strapping on cross-country skis and hopping on the lit up trails for the nighttime skiing. The trails are so nicely groomed for both traditional and skate skiing. If you’re not a skier, there are more snowshoe trails if that’s more your speed :)

If you don’t have snowshoes or skis that are options that MYA can hook you up with.

Cost: $45. To register, please choose to add to cart below or payment is available via VENMO or a good ol’ check in the mail :)

Zipping, Castling & Skiing Adventure

We had a blast the first time so, MYA is headed back to the beautiful White Mountains region of New Hampshire for a wicked fun packed weekend adventure including ziplining, nighttime ice castle exploring, state park exploring, downhill skiing (cross country if you prefer), snowshoeing, yoga, vegetarian food and more…

Friday eve will get settled into our fabulous accommodations across from Loon Mountain in the White Mountain National Forest. The private home boasts an expansive cathedral ceiling entry with stone accents running up through the main living area to the gas fireplace hearth to the third floor's Knotty Pine ceiling. The kitchen with warm wood tones and granite counters features SS appliances and a large granite Island. Sarah Joughin will be your fab vegetarian cook along with her assistant, daughter Ruby :) The oak hardwood floor warmly flows through the kitchen/dining and living rooms. Adjoining the living room is a large space with its own cozy enamel gas wood stove with sliding doors to the expansive Loon facing front deck.

Adventurers will have plenty of room with six bedrooms, two with king beds, one with a queen bed, two twins in two of the rooms as well as a game room with a twin over full bunk bed. While every room boasts gorgeous views, all bathrooms are wrapped with tile floors and tile accents up the walls - there’s also a two-person jacuzzi tub to take turns relaxing in. Adventurers will also have free access to Loon Mountain Swim and Tennis Club and a new large sauna at the house!

Arrival time is flexible - our home will be ready by 4pm. Adventurers can stretch out after the drive, enjoy happy hour, try out the sauna, and then indulge in a hearty vegetarian meal.

Saturday, after breakfast and yoga, adventurers have a date in Lincoln with Alpine Adventures for winter ziplining. They opened the first, longest, highest and fastest Zipline Canopy Tour in New England in 2006. Our adrenaline will be pumping on this wintertime thrill ride! Our guides will keep us safe and secure as we zip over the canopy with outstanding views. We weren’t cold and it was super awesome!

ice+castles+2.jpg

We’ll come back to our fab pad to relax and eat yummy food before heading out for nighttime fun - a visit to the Ice Castles! Adventurers will explore icy layers and tunnels in a version of Frozen. The castles are enshrouded in an aurora borealis and lit from within in a rainbow of colors.

Sunday funday can be adventurer’s choice! Loon Mountain has wonderful downhill runs but if that isn’t your favorite way to play in the snow, cross-country skiing is awesome there too. Loon also has a skating pond that we may like to check out. Adventurers can purchase their downhill skiing tickets online. For cross-country skiing no worries, Loon’s trail prices are very affordable or you can opt for park trails for free. Please know that snowshoeing is another option for getting out there in the snow.

Our cook for this adventure, Sarah Joughin, will be whipping up amazing vegetarian breakfasts and dinners. MYA is happy to work with any dietary needs :) Lunches will be up to adventurers, either we’ll be at the chalet or on the mountain or in town and we can pick up whatever we may be craving. You could also decide to bring a lunch for yourself, often there are plenty of leftovers if you get the munchies.

From the chalet we’ll have quick, easy access to Jay Peak Resort for both cross-country and downhill skiing and of course, the super fabulous indoor Pump House Water Park. MYA is happy to get adventurers tickets to the waterslides but the cost of the lift tickets if downhill is your thang, will be up to you. I’m sure there are plenty of cross-country trails and/or snowshoeing and fat biking trails nearby to enjoy as well. If you own snow specific equipment, bring it all along and we’ll be sure to use it! If you don’t, just let Holly know and she’ll track some down for you.
