Puerto Rico Vibe & Volunteer Adventure

Puerto Rico Vibe & Volunteer Adventure

MYA is headed to Puerto Rico to explore beautiful Old San Juan, animal rescue volunteer work with Moyo Village as well as yoga, hiking & snorkeling fun.

The adventure begins in Old San Juan with adventurers staying two nights at a funky fabulous hotel decorated with local art. The rooms have balconies and there’s a rooftop sundeck with soaking bathtubs.

We’ll be in walking distance of wonderful restaurants and five minutes from San Cristobal Castle. MYA will cover vegetarian dinnertime meals. There will be plenty of dancing possibilities - salsa!

After playing in the old city, adventurers will move onto Moyo Village to give back to the local animal community. In Swahili, "moyo" means "heart." Moyo Village has a heart for all people, all animals, and our earth. It is their dharma, mission, to help others see the interconnectedness of all life. MYA is joining in their volunteer efforts with local animal organizations offering up our help 2-3 hrs a day.

Puerto Rico has out-of-control populations of street animals which has resulted in a unique mixture of dog breeds locally referred to as satos, as well as cats (gatos) ultimately a result of a lack of spay & neuter leading to unwanted litters and a never-ending cycle of reproduction. Moyo Village believes that the animal rescue mission takes an entire community, not just individuals acting alone, and stand by other orgs in their efforts to both care for and find homes for rescued animals.

We’ll be sure to work in some playtime hiking in El Yunque National Forest, visiting a waterfall, and snorkeling with sea turtles. Absolutely a yoga practice every day :) Our final day will be a decompression day, yoga, relax, go to the beach, perhaps visit an island…

On the volunteer portion of the adventure, breakfasts will be included but adventurers should plan on covering most lunches and dinners (about $250). We will stop at a grocery store if you’d like to manage your dollars more efficiently. Be sure to pack light, we can do laundry.

30 days before the start of our volunteer trip adventurers will be given a private link to collect donations to earn cash back to use towards your trip costs (or towards Moyo Village merch). All donations received will help support the partner rescues that you'll be volunteering with. Raise $500, earn $100; Raise $1000, earn $250; Raise $1500, earn $500.

Flights are not included in the cost. Holly will be traveling from Bangor on American and may be bringing a dog home via flight angels please take a look at their work. Moyo Village can help adventurers coordinate with them.

To spend two nights in Old San Juan, payment is through MYA, to volunteer with Moyo Village for five nights (June 27-July 2) following the adventure, please find payment ($1240) through their website.

Cost: $600 includes yoga practices, immersion into PR culture, dinnertime twice in Old San Juan, good karma, great people

Payment is accepted via Venmo @maineyogaadventures_ or send a check or use a credit card below…

*For this adventure the final payment is due 60 days in advance, April 27, thank you!

Please be sure to review the cancellation policy - thank you! Feel free to reach out to Holly with any questions or concerns.

Blissful Immersion: Copenhagen Adventure

Only two spots left!

MYA is going for a sweet deep immersion into Copenhagen, the charming capital of Denmark, known for its iconic landmarks, stunning architecture, Scandinavian culture, and emphasis on wellness. The beautiful city is mostly comprised of national parks and stunning remote natural areas with the energetic feel of a city. Copenhagen is undeniably a walkable, bikeable (more than half of residents ride), and many modes of public transportation easy to get around wonderful place to be. Adventurers will discover Hygge, a Danish term, being in a state of comfort, relaxation, and peace with the ones around you. Cozy.

At a perfect time of year with temps in the low 70s, MYA will take up residence for seven nights in a penthouse, two stories with lots of natural light, two beautifully decorated bathrooms, and multiple comfy corners in a lovely neighbourhood next to the royal residence of Amalienborg (changing of the guards at noon!). The historic charm and nordic design is well preserved with two French balconies, an open living room, kitchen, and dining area. A king sized bed is on the first floor and an internal spiral staircase leads to the second floor with two bedrooms each fitted with two single beds. Steel framed glass walls separate the bedrooms from a lounge area and private entrance for the top floor. The building has the highest eco-certification and does not use single use plastic.

Positioned in the heart of the city, we’ll have an ideal place to explore Copenhagen on foot, bike (we’ll get rentals for the week), or from the water. There are lovely spots for outdoor yoga near Kastellet, an old army fort, next to our abode. We’ll definitely take a swim in the free harbour baths! A harbour tour leaving from Nyhavn is on our adventure list. Floating hot tubs are a possibility! GreenKayak will be perfect for our group, we can pick up trash in the harbor as we paddle.

Freetown Christiania, an intentional community and commune is a not to be missed neighborhood in Copenhagen, home to concert venues, bars, organic and vegetarian eateries, art galleries, and nature. A bit touristy but worthy of a visit will be Tivoli with exotic architecture, historic buildings, lush gardens, and an amusement park. At night thousands of lights create a fairytale atmosphere and we may catch a glimpse of guinea fowls or peacocks who roam the premises.

MYA will soak in the vibe from the old ship yard with an exceptional and unforgettable experience in New Nordic Wellness at a wilderness facility in an urban setting with fire-heated hot tubs and saunas intermingled with big cold plunge tubs. If adventurers are up for it, we could do an hour of hot tubbing paired with an hour of the panoramic sauna with an amazing view of CopenHill. More spa experiences will be at our fingertips throughout Copenhagen…

MYA will cover a few breakfasts and dinners with the fresh outdoor food markets just a walking bridge away across from Nyhavn. Otherwise we’ll be hitting many local eateries to get a feel for Danish foods. An optional cooking class will be offered up and a lot of amazing bread and pastries will be available to us, Brød and/or Hart and/or Myers and/or Ole and Steen, all of it! Adventurers can try Mikkeler beer for happy hour to soak up the yummy carbs. Another option to immerse ourselves properly is a beer tasting.

And…surprise, if we can drag ourselves away (there are castles to visit which haven’t even been mentioned!), we’re taking a side trip to Sweden! Malmo is a short train ride from Copenhagen that’s hard not to visit with it’s coastal proximity, large food market, and the possibility of a lovely bike ride into the countryside and a toes in the sand stroll on the beach. The city is quite quaint and adventurers will surely enjoy it as a day trip.

Holly performed at an experimental theatre in Copenhagen over twenty years ago, it’d be cool to see a show there! There are lots of possibilities in our effort to immerse ourselves into the culture of the city. Adventurers can decide to purchase a Copenhagen Card for access into attractions and public transportation as we get closer to the date and firm up our schedule.

Included in the adventure: 7 nights accommodations, daily yoga practices inside & out, 3 dinners & 3 breakfasts, bike rental for the week, positive vibes…

Cost: $2300/twin bed; $3000/king bed solo/$4000 king bed shared (w/ pre-arranged bed mate)

Payment is accepted via Venmo @maineyogaadventures_ or send a check or use the credit card method below either the full amount or a $1000 deposit.

Adventurers will lodge together in a quaint yurt on lovely property. This sweet spot is located in Easton and was established to offer a place of relief from a fast-paced lifestyle. The yurt is cozy, comfortable and a great place to rest and relax while enjoying the outdoors. The space is the perfect opportunity for connection, made warm by the wood stove, starlit by the dome skylight, and uniquely dressed in the perfect turquoise hue.

Arrival time is flexible, if you can’t slip away until later, no worries, we’ll have plenty of fun and food in the evening :) Adventurers will have access to 120 acres of hiking, snowshoeing & cross-country ski trails right out the door, including the Canadian Border Trail, land peppered with beautiful spruce and apple trees.

For Friday’s skiing pleasure, adventurers are welcome to hit Big Rock Mountain on Mars Hill, a fifteen minute drive away from the yurt, fun! Saturday and Sunday will be snowga and ski fundays! No worries about snowga, it’s just yoga in the snow (usually with snowshoes), experience is not necessary. A sense of humor is best as well as snowpants on the looser side! We can partner for balancing postures, always a hoot. No worries if you don’t have snowshoes, MYA can help.

On Saturday after breakfast and snowga on the beautiful landscape, we’ll head to the Nordic Heritage Center, less than 20 minutes away. The NHC, a jewel in the crown of Maine, embodies the best of Aroostook County: a place of incomparable beauty. The center offers up snowshoe and cross-country ski rentals. If you have your own skis and snowshoes, bring them along. You can choose the activity that you’re most comfortable with, just being outside in nature should bring on therapeutic goodness. And, there’s a sauna, let’s hope that it’ll be open to warm us up!

MYA has really enjoyed NHC in season’s past, the trail network is expansive and heavenly, so nicely maintained. This is a wonderful organization that MYA is proud to support and will offer up a portion of the adventure proceeds to their cause.

Beaches & Mountains of Abruzzo: Italy Adventure

Sold out - thanks adventurers!

MYA is taking on gorgeous Italy again but in a different locale, we’re headed to Abruzzo, the green lung of Europe!, for the outstanding countryside, medieval towns, stunning mountains, parks & nature reserves, and awesome beaches. Adventurers will stay seven nights in a beautiful villa nicely placed to explore all of the region’s fabulousness along with plenty of yoga, vegetarian food, and excursions. Apologies, there is very limited space on this adventure…

Our villa is in a perfect peaceful location, we can walk to the nearby village and we’re just a fifteen minute drive from Giulianova, a thriving town on the sea near the mouth of the Tordino river with one of the most beautiful sandy beaches of the Adriatic coast. Adventures will relax in the countryside with a private pool, gardens, and open views across the valleys towards hilltop towns and the majestic Gran Sasso, the highest mountain in the Apennine range.

There are six bedrooms in the modern and spacious villa designed over three floors with a sun terrace on each level to enjoy the different aspects from its elevated location. The covered outdoor corridor on the ground and first floors provide a shaded walkway that keeps the living area and bedrooms cool. Across the central lawn with a shady olive tree and leafy Mulberry tree is the old farm house which adds lots of character to the overall villa vibe. Wifi is available.

The nearby village of Mosciano Sant' Angelo provides all amenities, as well as a weekly market with local produce. During July, Mosciano and the surrounding villages host various summer festas, food nights and concerts, all just a five minute drive away. There is a fabulous traditional restaurant just a short stroll down the lane with fantastic food and views across Giulianova to the sea.

Mosciano Sant'Angelo is a fascinating medieval village, it owes its name to the cult of the Archangel Michael and can be admired from afar with its panorama of buildings including the famous Torre degli Acquaviva (water tower). This is a sweet area dominated by the view of olive groves and vineyards from which the excellent Montepulciano wine is born. Walking through its streets you can breathe history and spirituality and from here we could leave for horseback excursions in the surrounding nature. What do you think adventurers, shall we ride?!

An MYA cook, will take care of all of our breakfasts and four to five dinners, all vegetarian, whipping up the freshest most local ingredients with delightful Italian flair. Adventurers will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy meals outside of the villa, from the restaurant across the street and beyond.

Along with the daily yoga practice and an occasional evening flow under the stars, we’ll travel beyond our villa and local village to soak in more of Abruzzo. There will be a day of wine tasting; we can visit three local wineries mixed in with sightseeing and strolling. We can plan a day trip to Rome if adventurers are interested. Adventurers can venture into the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park about an hour away, if we leave early enough we can get in a hike before it gets too hot.

Roccascalegna, a perfectly preserved medieval village, lying on the spur of the mountain with its 16th century castle rising on a rock of limestone, has to be seen to be believed. Also on our list is Scanno within Abruzzo National Park, deemed one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. A visit to Bugnara, another super sweet hillside village and Catignano, will be tossed in with a visit to the seaside for cool dipping. There’s going to be a lot of gorgeous sights to take in!

Don’t miss out on a fantastic adventure in Abruzzo Italy! Adventurers will fly into Rome (leaving the US on the 21st) and meet up with Machelle and her daughter to be driven to the lovely villa where Holly and her two boys & more adventurers will greet you with open arms.

Cost: $2600 twin bed, shared room; $4800 king bed, private room, total cost for two adventurers

To book your space a deposit of $1600 per adventurer or the full amount can be made via Venmo (@maineyogaadventures_) or a check in the mail or purchase below...

The adventure begins at the Whitten Hill Preserve trailhead in Montville, a 3.5-mile moderately challenging loop trail. Bald Mountain Sunset Hike

Join MYA on a Sunday evening (Memorial Day weekend) to hike up Bald Mountain enjoying spectacular views along the way to the summit. We’ll get in a yoga practice, eat yummy vegetarian snacks, and watch a fabulous sunset…

There is quite an incline right from the get-go but no worries we’ll go slow turning around to take in the view and making plenty of stops to listen to birds and trilling frogs. After about forty-five minutes we’ll be at the summit to explore some of the sweetness that surrounds us both nearby and off in the distance.

Adventurers will get in a light-hearted yoga practice as the light begins to shift towards sunset. Post stretching it’ll be food time, MYA will hike up some goodness for our bellies!

Then we’ll settle in to watch the show (bring your summit beer if you’re into it!), hopefully we’ll get a dramatic sky with a few drifting clouds and a glowing red orb as it sinks below the horizon line. As the darkness gets heavier, we can watch the sky fill with constellations. Eventually we’ll pop on our headlamps, or cell phone lights, and slowly make our way back down.

Cost: $40 includes hiking buddies, good views, delicious snacks, yoga, sunset, starry night sky (dramatic sky subject to the whims of weather)

Spring Fever Pop-Up Hiking Adventure

Heads ups, I changed the date from Sunday to sunny Saturday!

MYA is so ready to get on the trails at Acadia before all the tourists do! It’s spring and that means fabulous spring hiking in Maine’s National Park; this time adventurers will take on Sargent Mountain with stunning views and even a waterfall along the way…

Adventurers are looking at a 4.5 mile loop hike along the Hadlock Brook Trail, up to the summit and over to the Maple Spring Trail back down. We’ll come prepared with microspikes in case of an icy patch or two. The beginning of the trail is a slow, gradual climb alongside the brook and after roughly half a mile, the trail reaches the famous waterfall bridge and the Around-Mountain Carriage Road, its skewed arch perfectly frames the beautiful Hadlock Falls, one of the few waterfalls in the park. The hike will get a bit more intense with a steadier climb post falls but no worries, we’ll take our time breathing in the beauty (plenty of water and snack breaks!). At the summit we’ll go for some relaxation and a yoga flow, the length of which will be very weather dependent.

To head down we’ll hop on the maple ridge, a lesser used magical trail that travels alongside a stream as well. Please note, if this trail is closed, there are other options to bring us down :) Lovely portions of the carriage trail will be visited along with bridges, one of which is the hemlock bridge, another beauty. Adventurers will enjoy the stream crossings and the glacial formations along the way.

After hiking adventurers will enjoy some vegetarian food, feel free to bring along your fav beverage.

Let’s celebrate spring with a hike to bring in the season!

Cost: $45 including a gorgeous hike, a yoga practice, yummy food, good vibes

Payment is available via VENMO @maineyogaadventures_ or a check or purchase below…

The yurt is cozy, comfortable and a great place to rest and relax while enjoying the outdoors. The space is unplugged yet the perfect opportunity for connection, made warm by the wood stove, starlit by the dome skylight, and unique in it’s the perfect color of turquoise.

Saturday and Sunday will be snowga and ski fundays! No worries about snowga, it’s just yoga in the snow (usually with snowshoes), experience is not a necessity.

Adventurers will stay at a lush hillside villa enjoying the vistas of foliage, sea and sky. Daily visitations of iguanas, lizards, and birds are sure to delight. A ferry will take adventurers over to St. John (flights are into St Thomas) and MYA will arrange a 4-wheel drive pick up to whisk you off to our super fab accommodations.

A national park occupies more than half the island with its forests full of resident and migratory birds, including cuckoos, warblers and hummingbirds. The beaches are pristine and spectacular! Ancient jungles ruins are throughout the landscape. Dolphins inhabit the island’s waters, which also host hawksbill and green turtles. The mangroves at Hurricane Hole in the east support corals, anemones, and a large variety of colorful fish.

The adventure villa is on the south shore in a quiet nature-filled neighborhood on Boatman Bay, a ten minute drive from the harbor. Owned by famous American Pop culture artist, Peter Max, the space is designed for both privacy and communal gatherings.

The coral stone deck is expansive with a pool, lounge chairs, and dining area, of course, the views are jaw dropping! The sunrise is spectacular, you can watch the magic from the comfort of your bed. All will enjoy dramatic clear turquoise reefs below, pristine National Park coastline, and crisp horizon views of the vast blue sea, sunsets and starry skies. The evening becomes a sweet time for a glass of wine and a soak in the hot tub, one of MYA’s fav amenities. The star gazing is terrific, our villa is very private without close by neighbors flooding the sky with light.

The lovely bedrooms have an en-suite bath and shower, sliding glass doors, and individual A/C units in each. Two of the bedrooms have an extra full-sized twin in the room, great for adventurers that don’t mind sharing space.

All of the breakfasts are covered by MYA, we’ll have five vegetarian dinners at the house and two out on the town so that we can take in the local experience. Anna Olsen will be our amazing talented cook! Lunches are up to adventurers, either leftovers or stopping in town. The MYA offerings will be vegetarian and any and all food allergies/preferences will be honored.

Adventurers will be hiking, snorkeling (equipment is rentable if you don’t have your own), paddleboarding (another rentable item), swimming, and enjoying yoga at least once a day. We may get in some guided tours as well such as a leisurely kayak and snorkel adventure through the mangroves; an amazing tour and MYA highly recommends it! In villa massage and spa treatments will also be an option for adventurers as an add on. Sunset charters, a mermaid experience (put on a fancy tail and pose for pics!), and a private dj are some other offerings :) We may plan a day trip to Puerto Rico and book a salsa lesson!

This time around, MYA will be offering up some of our time to the locals with a volunteer component added to our adventure. Adventurers can walk dogs at the animal shelter, help care for island animals such as horses, donkeys and goats at the animal sanctuary, and/or help with a clean-up or maintenance project at the Virgin Islands National Park.

Lobster & Chesuncook Lake Canoeing Adventure

to Aug 17

Lobster & Chesuncook Lake Canoeing Adventure

Get in a spectacular five day canoe and camping adventure on Lobster & Chesuncook Lake with MYA and Coyote Ridge Guides in the North Maine Woods with lots of yoga, paddling, birding, swimming, fireside stories and yummy food! The ultimate nature therapy…

The Lobster & Chesuncook Lake trip is a pampered journey albeit rustic as our guides help us carry all our gear, food, supplies, etc. via canoe. This is a good canoe trip for any paddling ability - adventurers can bring along a buddy or come solo and we’ll hook you up with a paddling partner. Our guides, the fabulous Coyote Ridge Guides, Registered Maine Guides, will assist in teaching and reinforcing proper paddling strokes and technique. They also happen to have great personalities and are superb storytellers.

Adventurers will camp along the way in tents at lovely, scenic campsites. Post-paddling adventurers will have plenty of time to relax, swim and practice some yoga before bedtime. All levels of yogis are welcome, no experience, no worries. Daily yoga and meditation practices will be at a level attainable for everyone, we’ll be breathing in the beauty and stretching out our paddling efforts. Being outside at night is always exciting with lots of stargazing and storytelling. There’s nothing like a campfire to bring us all together :)

We’ll meet at a pre-determined location on our first day and drive to Lobster Stream for put in. After our canoes and gear are into the water, we will paddle upstream to Lobster Lake and to a campsite on the lakeshore. The wilderness campsites have lovely sandy beaches and we’ll have plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the stay. There will be ample opportunity for amazing views of Katahdin from both the water and the beaches.

The next day we travel back across the lake and back down lobster Stream to the West Branch of the Penobscot river. We travel down the river for two days and then stay out on Chesuncook lake. The lake was named "goose place" by combining the call of the Canada goose schunk with auke (the Abenaki word for place) to form Chesuncook. Henry David Thoreau visited Chesuncook (village) and lake in 1853 and wrote about its beginnings in his book "The Maine Woods".

Adventurers will have an opportunity to camp on and explore Mauser Island before we get to our take-out location. We’ll travel back to our original meeting place on the fifth day. Taking in and soaking up the last bits of spectacular scenery. Don’t forget your binos!

Our guides will cook all meals over the open fire, and source all of our firewood at the campsites when we arrive. They will cook two meals a day (all dietary restrictions and allergies will be honored), and lunches are usually cold, but all are very substantial. We also have a couple of snacks each day as we travel. For MYA will usually go fully vegetarian but we’ve opened up a fish option for a dinner or two for this canoe trip.

The best part is that the adventure is all inclusive - yessss! All adventurers have to do is show up with their sleeping bag and maybe some clothes :) Every adventurer is provided a dry bag to pack into and if you don’t have a sleeping bag, there are loaners.

Limited to 9 adventurers- be sure to book your spot soon!

Cost: $1,500

Adventurers can choose to either pay in full or put down a deposit to hold their spot.

We’ll follow up our yummy food with a fanciful painting session letting our imaginations conjure up a bird (or something else if you like) and setting it down on driftwood. Absolutely no experience necessary, definitely bring your sense of humor! Maybe adventurers can get a bit of help from artist Travis Baker :)

Let’s celebrate 7 years of adventuring with all of the goodness we can cram into a sundayfunday in hopes for at least 7 more!!!

Cost: $65

Beehive & Bubbles: Pop-Up Adventure

Join MYA for a last minute hiking adventure with a yummy vegetarian picnic by the sea in Acadia National Park! Adventurers will take on the fabulous Beehive and Bubbles hikes with lots of lovely views and yoga everywhere we can…

We’re getting an early start to avoid the crowds to take on the Beehive, the majestic peak that overlooks Sand Beach in Acadia. The hike is thrilling, swift, and definitely satisfying but is not recommended for adventurers with a fear of heights (please know that it’s helpful to hike this with adventure buddies, lots of positive energy & good vibes to get you thru). We’ll head straight up the steep south face of the peak with granite steps, iron rungs to climb, and several handrails for exposed rock scrambling sections. Once to the top, all are rewarded with incredible views of Sand Beach, Great Head, and the surrounding area. The good news is that this hike is only two miles total and you don’t have to go down the way you come up! We’ll relax up top and return via the easy going bowl trail, pausing at the beautiful lake nestled between the surrounding peaks. Let’s hope for bright sunny skies and that we won’t get fogged in :)

We’ll follow up our first hike with a picnic at lovely Sand Beach. Adventurers can dip their toes in that super cold Maine water! With happy bellies, we’ll make our way to our second hike, The Bubbles. The hike begins on the Bubbles Divide trailhead and we’ll make our way to the infamous Bubble Rock then head out to the North Bubble Trail (the less busy option) for some great views of Jordan Pond, Pemetic & Sargent Mountains, and the Cranberry Isles. We’ll enjoy a few minor scrambling sections but it relents quickly enough. We can take the carriage road to the Jordan Pond Carry Trail or work our hike differently so that we can experience a bit more of the pond and/or South Bubble. Regardless, we’re looking at a 2-3 hour hike with breathtaking views :)

It’s about time MYA hit Beehive & Bubbles with adventurers (and sweet Sand Beach) - don’t miss out on a super fun day in Acadia with views for days hiking, yoga, and yummy food!

Cost: $40. Payment is available via VENMO (@maineyogaadventures_), or add to cart below…

Please know that if it is raining, we’ll have to reschedule :)

Baths & Beers: Germany Adventure (rescheduled from 2020)

MYA is heading to Deutschland for an incredible eight day adventure of thermal soaking, forest bathing, fairytale castle exploring, beer imbibing, train riding, yoga flows, vegetarian food, and more!

germany_7.jpg

Adventurers will meet up at the Frankfurt International Airport (flying out on Monday, May 9th to arrive the next day) and make our way to southerly realms. We’ll hop onto the train, our favored mode of travel for this adventure, en route to a spa town surrounded by the black forest for two nights, the infamous Baden-Baden, home of therapeutic waters.

Our first accommodations are located in the heart of Baden-Baden’s picturesque Old Town. We’ll stay in two apartments in a beautiful historic building with a terrace and a kitchen for MYA to work their magic. Most breakfasts and dinners will be sourced locally & vegetarian. If you have dietary needs beyond food allergies/sensitivities which will be honored, lunch will be the time to satiate those cravings. Adventurers can walk everywhere in this enchanting town; including a mere five minute stroll to the best soaking venue in town, Caracalla Spa.

MYA loves a good soaking after a long flight! Baden-Baden thermal water comes from a depth of 2000 meters and is the most mineral-rich in Germany. With temperatures between 32° and 68° C it regenerates and stimulates the whole body contributing to health and well-being.

The Caracalla Spa offers up space for soothing relaxation and bathing pleasure in the hot thermal water. A combination of water areas and saunas of five different types, an outdoor area in the picturesque castle garden including two marble pools, a lazy river, massage jets and two whirlpools will surely intoxicate adventurers. There’s even a brine inhalation room.

After a good night’s sleep we’ll take more time to enjoy the fairy tale village. An adventurer option could be to take on another spa, the Friedrichsbad is a nude spa, which focuses on the more classic roman bath culture features. The experience relies on the completion of a 17-step circuit which combines soaking in Roman baths of varying temperatures, with Irish steam baths, and a full-body scrub and massage. There are plenty of hiking trails to take us out of town and into the forest, visiting the old castle will be on our to-do list. From thermal bathing to forest bathing :)

germany_8.jpg

With a traditional breakfast, fruhstuck, in our bellies (coffee or tea and bread presented with various toppings such as butter, nutella, cheese, jam, and honey - perhaps a boiled egg added in as well, yum!); adventurers will get ready to move on to Stuttgart.

Our next accommodations will be close to the super fab old town in a historic hotel with a whole lot of character and coziness for the group to put their feet up and relax. Adventurers will pour into two nicely appointed suites. This will be a night out for dinnertime and taking in the scenery, the culture, the beer…

Sweet spots to investigate in the city are St. John’s Church, a stunning Gothic which can be seen reflected in Lake of Feursee which surrounds it, Old Castle is a must, located on the Schillerplatz, a cobblestone square, and if adventurers are up for it, we may get on the outskirts as well to Schloss Solitude.

From Stuttgart, MYA will be traveling by car to stay in Dornstetten at a lovely home with lots of character and a hot tub and sauna! Plenty of space for adventurers with six bedrooms, an open kitchen, and a terrace with a garden that captures the perfect view of sunsets. For music lovers, there’s a piano in the cottage and plenty of books to linger over. We’ll be close to Freudenstadt, the city in the Black Forest with Germany's largest marketplace. In addition, Strasbourg, France, Lake Constance, Stuttgart, Pforzheim, Freiburg and Karlsruhe are just 1 hour away.

Hohenzollern, a magical fairy tale stunning beauty of a castle will be on the itinerary as well as Lichtenstein castle, the gothic revival built upon an escarpment on the edge of the Swabian Alps looking quite dramatic and otherworldly. We’ll definitely be enjoying some hiking trails throughout these jaw dropping environs.

Another option adventurers can decide upon is trekking down to Titisee to partake in the bathing paradise at Schwarzwald - there will be a bit of yin and yang happening here with galaxy schwarzwald thrills (water slides!) and the palm oasis and palais vital targeted towards ultimate relaxation including themed saunas and textile-free water worlds. We may want to spend some time on the lake kayaking or stand up paddleboarding as well.

Back onto the train, we’ll head to our next locale, Bacharach, a picturesque village in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley but not without a stop in the romantic cityscape of Heidelberg on the river Neckar. Adventurers will have an opportunity to stroll through the historic city center's Gothic streets, visit Heidelberg Castle, and Alte Brucke, a beautiful 18th-century bridge. It’ll be the perfect spot for lunch and a beer tasting before heading back on the train to suffer through more beautiful Deutschland!!!

Our final accommodations will be a two night stay in the center of the quaint jewel of a village called Bacharach. A five minute walk from both the train station and the River Rhine, adventurers will stay in a beautiful hotel right in the center of town with a couple of balconies, access to the garden, and traditional Germany breakfasts.

The medieval village of Bacharach surrounded by steep hills planted with grapevines is entered through a gate in the old town walls. The Burg Stahleck fortress looks onto the village of cobbled streets from above. Adventurers will have plenty of time to explore beyond the village - we can pop on and off the hiking paths on the Rheinburgenweg (Rhine castles trail), visit Oberwesel’s Schönburg Castle for a lunchtime excursion, perhaps Pfalzgrafenstein Castle as well and a short train ride to St. Goar for Rheinfels Castle. This area is jam-packed with magical, fairytale beauty and as a group we can go where our hearts lead us…

Don’t miss out on a springtime in Germany adventure!

Cost: $2,300 includes 7 nights accommodations, breakfasts & dinners (unless you want a meaty dinner here and there), transportation in Germany, daily yoga, a couple sweet spa experiences, hiking, castle exploring, good laughs at Holly’s attempts to speak German, and more…

Please contact Holly to book or final payments. Thank you!

Please be aware of MYA’s cancellation policy.

Snowshoe, Ski & Spa Adventure

Join MYA in Kennebec Valley for riverside snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowga, luxurious spa time, a cozy overnight stay, yummy vegetarian food and more…

Our adventure begins at Quarry Road Trails in Waterville with a beautiful snowshoe hike along the river. We’ll enjoy nature, taking in the forest, the snow, the water, and the wildlife we spot along the way. Our hike will be at a slow pace, beginner snowshoe adventurers are welcome! Let’s hope for a good storm to powder up the trails but enough open water so we can see the ducks.

Next up we’ll get in some snowga (yoga in the snow with snowshoes) to stretch out our hiking legs and get in a few laughs whilst balancing. Always a good time! Again, it’s ok if you’ve never tried it, no judgement just fun.

Following all of that work comes food! MYA will bring along a crockpot of vegetarian soup and some other yummies to eat.

Next up we’re strapping on cross-country skis and hopping on the trails for skiing - the best part is that we’ll hit the trails in the transition between daylight and darkness. Quarry Road Trails does a terrific job of lighting up the terrain making for super cool nighttime runs. The trails are groomed for both traditional and skate skiing, bring along your favorite pair. If you’re not a skier, there are more snowshoe trails if that’s more your speed :)

Please know that If you don’t have snowshoes or skis, there are options that MYA can hook you up with.

Next up is an absolute chill session at the Senator Inn & Spa in Augusta. We’ll have access to an indoor saltwater mineral swimming pool, steam room, and two saunas. In our luxury spa suites, adventurers have the option of a private room with a king bed or sharing a room with two twin beds. All of the rooms have a fireplace and a jacuzzi style bathtub. If adventurers would like special spa services added on, no problem, Holly can book extras for you.

Dinner and breakfast will be up to adventurers - Cloud 9 is an on-site restaurant with plenty of delicious menu items or we can pick an alternative. MYA will have plenty on snacks in the hotel room if you don’t need too much for dinnertime, we’ll have leftover soup too :) Personally Mr Bagel in the morning sounds great to me!

Adventurers can get in more snowshoeing, skiing, snowga, and strolling in quaint Hallowell on Sundayfunday!

There are options for us to choose from, the Hallowell Reservoir Rec Area has nice trails as well as Vaughan Woods & Historic Homestead or adventurers can simply stroll along the downtown Kennebec River Rail Trail.

Don’t miss out on a super fab relaxing & luxuriating weekend mixed with outdoor fitness and yummy food!

Cost: $200/queen shared room, $300/king private room, $350/shared king private room (total cost for 2 adventurers)

Payment is available via VENMO (@maineyogaadventures_) or a good ol’ check in the mail or add to cart below…

To round out the group experience, Holly’s 12yr old son Augi will be adventuring with us!

The coral stone deck is expansive with a pool, lounge chairs, and dining area, of course, the views are jaw dropping! All will enjoy dramatic clear turquoise reefs below, pristine National Park coastline, and crisp horizon views of the vast blue sea, sunrises, and moonrises. The evening might be the perfect time to soak in the hot tub, one of MYA’s fav amenities.

We’ll break up the dining experience having four dinners served up at the villa and three meals out on the town being sure to take in the local experience. The MYA offerings will be vegetarian :)

Adventurers will be hiking, snorkeling (equipment is rentable if you don’t have your own), paddleboarding (another rentable item), and swimming. The floating bar might be an interesting excursion and we may get in some guided tours as well such as a leisurely kayak and snorkel adventure through the mangroves – an experience offered very few other places in the world! In villa massage and spa treatments will also be an option for adventurers as an add on. Sunset charters, a mermaid experience (yes, you can put on a fancy tail and pose for pics!), and a private dj are some other offerings :) MYA is definitely planning on a day trip to Puerto Rico - lets book a salsa lesson together and really have some fun!
