Our group will spread out into five bedrooms with beautiful views. The ceiling fans and air conditioning will keep adventurers comfortable. One of the king bedrooms with ensuite bathroom has massive windows and vaulted ceilings bringing the beauty of the island right into the room. On the second level of the home, there is another king bedroom with ensuite bath and balcony. The other three bedrooms, two king beds and one queen, are artfully decorated for luxurious sleeping experiences for friends or couples to share or solo visitors to spread out. Holly is happy to share one of the king rooms with another adventurer!
Norway Adventure: Oslo, Saunas & Lit Skies
MYA will be exploring Norway at the perfect time to get in some city vibes, spa bliss Scandinavian style, catching the lights dancing across the skies, and cross-country skiing on beautifully groomed trails (or snowshoeing). We’ll have accommodations in Oslo and further afield to take in the countryside, enjoy having a vegetarian cook, MJ, whipping up delicious meals, and of course daily yoga with Holly. Crossing our fingers for late March snow!
Our first three eves will be spent in a luxury apartment in the embassy district in the heart of Frogner; beautiful placement to explore the city of Oslo. Large windows bring in lots of light into the apartment and the floor heating in all rooms will keep us warm during the chillier days.
Adventurers will have plenty of relaxation space with two lovely living rooms, two fireplaces, two balconies, 2.5 bathrooms, three bedrooms and one office (or small bedroom). The apartment is in a well-kept traditional building from 1910 yet fully modernized; the height and ornamentations of the ceilings pay tribute to the original style of the apartment.
MJ will make full use of the modern, fully equipped kitchen (including a built-in coffee machine). In a short walk we can find restaurants, local food shops (cheese!), the famous Vigeland Park with over 200 sculptures, and public transportation. Within 15-20 minutes walk you reach the castle and the main street Karl Johan. The bus will bring us to the center of Oslo in few minutes.
So much to do in our three eves in the city! We will hit the Oslo Fjord Sauna for sure and decide if we’d like to partake in the Thief Spa or Salt Spa right in the city. Or, we may decide to hop a train for an hour to The Well spa experience (not included in price: $50-$60 plus price of hr long trainride) with 11 different pools, 15 different saunas and steam baths, waterfalls, Japanese bathhouse with onsen, oriental hamam, and rhassoul.
Adventurers will go strolling, visiting the Munch museum, sculpture viewing, sauna drop ins, perhaps skiing, sledding, and park snowga if the weather is right. Let’s hope for SNOW! We’ll soak up all the goodness & fabulousness from Oslo.
Following the city excitement, adventurers will take the train to Lillehammer (incl in cost) to enjoy strolling and lunch. We’ll then switch over to two cars to make the drive, about a 1/2 hr, to the countryside. We’ll have our private dreamy cabin at Natrudstilen, Sjusjøen with fabulous views towards both Jotunheimen and Norefjell, and most importantly, a hot tub!
We can truly enjoy the paradise outdoors knowing that we have plenty of indoor relaxation spaces, another well-equipped kitchen, living room, dining room, and sleeping areas. The cabin is perfectly located for skiing in/out to the alpine slope and to the famous nordic trail network in Sjusjøen; just a short walk away is the ski center where we can get our rentals (skis or snowshoes).
We can explore the little town and the trails alongside the lake; also not far from the cabin is dogsledding! This is another experience along with skiing that will be up to adventurers, MYA can book the dogsledding (about $165 per person) once we have our numbers.
Let’s hope we get three wonderful eves of clear skies with the northern lights dancing just above us! More snowga with lots of soaking in between. All will definitely delight in more yummy hot meals from MJ after we come in from all the fun we can have in the great outdoors.
On Sunday, we’ll leave our cabin behind and head to one more locale that is sure to be unique and cozy. We’ll let our cars go, have another ride on the train to head a little north of Oslo to spend the night in two micro-houses on a historic property with the magistrate’s residence from 1921. The micro-houses of which there are four were designed by architect Benedicte Sund-Matisen, SUMA arkitektur, in Nordic contemporary architectural style. It is green throughout with local labor and the materials used such as green sedum mats on the roof. There is also a sauna on the property that MYA will get access to, yay!
Don’t miss out on a crazy good time in and around Oslo as we drink in all of the Norwegian fabulousness that we can! Please note that if you're coming from the US, we'll be flying out on Sunday to arrive on Monday to Oslo :)
Cost: $2500/single bed; $3400/solo double or queen; $4400/shared double or queen, price for two adventurers
Includes: three fab unique accommodations, all breakfasts, 5 vegetarian dinners, daily yoga, train to Lillihammer and back towards Oslo, saunas, hot tub as per accommodation, good vibes!

Wining & Vibing: Portugal Adventure
Calling it full my friends - thanks so much! If you really want in please contact Holly at 207-299-0082 and we’ll chat :)
Join MYA on our second epic adventure to Portugal! We’ll take in the local culture as we explore spectacular beaches, mountains, historic towns, castles, cheese shops, wine cellars & beyond…
MYA will be enjoying an elevated eight acre private property in the Parque Natural da Arrábida with magnificent views of the sea and mountains. Our breathtaking home is less than 3 miles from Castelo de Palmela, a castle situated between the estuaries of the River Tagus and Sado River, near the mouth of the latter; also part of the Costa Azul (blue coast). We’ll adventure to stunning beaches in the area that are about a 15 minute drive from the property.
The Setúbal peninsula, authentic (not ravaged by tourists yet), is known for good wine, Azeitao cheese, and cakes! Lisbon, full of charm, history and vibrant cuisine, is only 30 minutes away and Sintra, a wee bit further on, is a sweet town in a green mountainscape of palaces, country estates, parks and a medieval castle.
Adventurers will have plenty of space in a beautiful house with eight bedrooms, two living rooms, two kitchens, and a panoramic outdoor jacuzzi; views for days from every perspective. There’s a lovely pool and plenty of options indoors & out for our daily yoga practice, if the vibe is right we’ll get in an evening practice as well. Beyond the doorstep are great trails to stroll and take in more sights…
Located next to the sea, Arrábida Natural Park has incomparable beauty where the blue of the sea alternates with the white tones of chalk cliffs and the depths of green vegetation covering the mountains. In addition to the Arrábida range is the Serra do Risco with the highest peak along the Portuguese mainland coast, a magnificent cliff measuring 380m high that overlooks the sea.
Adventurers will visit the beaches of Figueirinha, Galapos and the Portinho da Arrábida with fine sand and transparent waters much like the Mediterranean. Ribeira do Cavalo is one of the best secluded beaches in Portugal which we’ll hike into through the surrounding mountains to take in the calmness of the water. Praia dos Galapinhos is a must see dreamy beach with clear waters & white sand surrounded by lush vegetation. Praia das Bicas is accessed by a long wooden stair case, a perfect spot to watch the sunset or simply play in the waves. Adventurers may find Argil, a type of green clay, that's used as a natural skin treatment.
Adventurer birders will be compelled to visit the Sado Estuary Natural Reserve. The wildlife park is home to an astonishing variety of bird species; around 220 have been recorded in open water, shallow lagoons, reed-beds, and across mud flats. The estuary is an important wintering ground for razorbill, marsh harrier, flamingo, purple heron, and black-winged stilt, among many others. Let’s go - don’t forget your binos!
Arrábida has excellent conditions for farming and produces high-quality products including the wines that we’ll discover on the Costa Azul wine route and the delicious cheeses we’ll sample in the town of Azeitão. MYA will keep a supply of Portuguese wines & cheeses at the house as well that we can sample at our leisure.
Outside of our area, we’ll adventure to Lisbon & Sintra to take in sights, get in a hike or two, and eat some yummy food, and head to fairytale castles. Adventurers can help build the excursion :)
All of the breakfasts are covered by MYA, we’ll have five vegetarian dinners at the house and two out on the town so that we can take in the local experience. Anna will be our super fab cook throughout our stay! Lunches are up to adventurers, either leftovers or stopping in a town. The MYA offerings will be vegetarian and any and all food allergies or preferences will be honored.
We filled up super quick last time around! Don’t miss out on adventuring to Portugal to take in nature, towns and cities rich in history, yoga practices with beautiful views, delicious vegetarian food, gorgeous beaches, exhilarating hikes, tasty wine (& cheese!!!), hot tubbing, and so much more.

Beaches & Mountains of Abruzzo: Italy Adventure
Sold out - thanks adventurers!
MYA is taking on gorgeous Italy again but in a different locale, we’re headed to Abruzzo, the green lung of Europe!, for the outstanding countryside, medieval towns, stunning mountains, parks & nature reserves, and awesome beaches. Adventurers will stay seven nights in a beautiful villa nicely placed to explore all of the region’s fabulousness along with plenty of yoga, vegetarian food, and excursions. Apologies, there is very limited space on this adventure…
Our villa is in a perfect peaceful location, we can walk to the nearby village and we’re just a fifteen minute drive from Giulianova, a thriving town on the sea near the mouth of the Tordino river with one of the most beautiful sandy beaches of the Adriatic coast. Adventures will relax in the countryside with a private pool, gardens, and open views across the valleys towards hilltop towns and the majestic Gran Sasso, the highest mountain in the Apennine range.
There are six bedrooms in the modern and spacious villa designed over three floors with a sun terrace on each level to enjoy the different aspects from its elevated location. The covered outdoor corridor on the ground and first floors provide a shaded walkway that keeps the living area and bedrooms cool. Across the central lawn with a shady olive tree and leafy Mulberry tree is the old farm house which adds lots of character to the overall villa vibe. Wifi is available.
The nearby village of Mosciano Sant' Angelo provides all amenities, as well as a weekly market with local produce. During July, Mosciano and the surrounding villages host various summer festas, food nights and concerts, all just a five minute drive away. There is a fabulous traditional restaurant just a short stroll down the lane with fantastic food and views across Giulianova to the sea.
Mosciano Sant'Angelo is a fascinating medieval village, it owes its name to the cult of the Archangel Michael and can be admired from afar with its panorama of buildings including the famous Torre degli Acquaviva (water tower). This is a sweet area dominated by the view of olive groves and vineyards from which the excellent Montepulciano wine is born. Walking through its streets you can breathe history and spirituality and from here we could leave for horseback excursions in the surrounding nature. What do you think adventurers, shall we ride?!
An MYA cook, will take care of all of our breakfasts and four to five dinners, all vegetarian, whipping up the freshest most local ingredients with delightful Italian flair. Adventurers will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy meals outside of the villa, from the restaurant across the street and beyond.
Along with the daily yoga practice and an occasional evening flow under the stars, we’ll travel beyond our villa and local village to soak in more of Abruzzo. There will be a day of wine tasting; we can visit three local wineries mixed in with sightseeing and strolling. We can plan a day trip to Rome if adventurers are interested. Adventurers can venture into the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park about an hour away, if we leave early enough we can get in a hike before it gets too hot.
Roccascalegna, a perfectly preserved medieval village, lying on the spur of the mountain with its 16th century castle rising on a rock of limestone, has to be seen to be believed. Also on our list is Scanno within Abruzzo National Park, deemed one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. A visit to Bugnara, another super sweet hillside village and Catignano, will be tossed in with a visit to the seaside for cool dipping. There’s going to be a lot of gorgeous sights to take in!
Don’t miss out on a fantastic adventure in Abruzzo Italy! Adventurers will fly into Rome (leaving the US on the 21st) and meet up with Machelle and her daughter to be driven to the lovely villa where Holly and her two boys & more adventurers will greet you with open arms.
Cost: $2600 twin bed, shared room; $4800 king bed, private room, total cost for two adventurers
To book your space a deposit of $1600 per adventurer or the full amount can be made via Venmo (@maineyogaadventures_) or a check in the mail or purchase below...
Hiking & Wining: Portugal Adventure
Sold out - thank you adventurers!
Join MYA on an epic adventure to Portugal! We’ll hike and take in the local culture as we explore spectacular beaches, mountains, historic towns, castles, cheese shops, wine cellars & beyond…
MYA will be enjoying an elevated eight acre private property in the Parque Natural da Arrábida with magnificent views to the sea, mountains and Lisbon. Adventurers will have plenty of space in a large beautiful house with eight bedrooms, two living rooms, two kitchens, and a panoramic outdoor jacuzzi with crazy views. There’s a lovely pool and plenty of options indoors & out for our daily yoga practice, if the vibe is right we’ll get in an evening practice as well.
Located next to the sea, Arrábida Natural Park has incomparable beauty where the blue of the sea alternates with the white tones of chalk cliffs and the depths of green vegetation covering the mountains. Speleology (cave explorations), diving, and mountain climbing are a few activities that local guides offer. In addition to the Arrábida mountain range is the Serra do Risco with the highest peak along the Portuguese mainland coast, a magnificent cliff measuring 380m high that overlooks the sea.
Adventurers will visit the beaches of Figueirinha, Galapos and the Portinho da Arrábida with fine sand and transparent waters much like the Mediterranean. Access will be an adventure as we take a steep, uneven path down known locally as the 'goat path'. Ribeira do Cavalo is one of the best secluded beaches in Portugal which we’ll hike into through the surrounding mountains to take in the calmness of the water that is uncommon in this area.
Praia dos Galapinhos is another dreamy beach with clear waters & white sand surrounded by lush vegetation. An unmarked trail that starts on the side of the road after Galapinhos is Praia dos Coelhos, a stunning wild beach with another steep downhill walk but wicked worthwhile. As another way to explore the area, adventurers may want to get in on a Coasteering Trip, a multi-activity that uses trekking, climbing, swimming, rappelling, zip line, caving and many jumps into the water.
There are more interconnected beaches with high cliffs and incredible walking trails. Adventurers may find Argil, a type of green clay, that's used as a natural skin treatment. Strong waves & high tides are the gift of these beaches so we’ll hang back watch surfers dance on the treacherous waters. Praia das Bicas is accessed by a long & steep wooden stair case, a perfect spot to watch the sunset or adventurers could opt for paragliding from the cliff edge for an incredible high!
Outside of our area, we’ll adventure to Lisbon & Sintra to take in sights, get in a hike or two, and eat some yummy food. We may want to take an electric bike guided tour in the city before we head to the fairytale castles. Adventurers can help build the excursion :)
All of the breakfasts are covered by MYA, we’ll have five vegetarian dinners at the house and two out on the town so that we can take in the local experience. Lunches are up to adventurers, either leftovers or stopping in a town. The MYA offerings will be vegetarian and any and all food allergies/preferences will be honored.

Costa Rican Sea Turtles Adventure
SOLD OUT :)
Maine Yoga Adventures is partnering again with outstanding nonprofit conservation organization, Earthwatch Institute, to assist on a 9 day Costa Rican Sea Turtles Expedition.
Following volunteer work, adventurers will head to an awe-inspiring private home in the rainforest of Nuevo Arenal for yoga, healthy vegetarian food, hiking, sightseeing, playing in the pool and more!
Adventurers are free to choose just the sea turtle expedition with Earthwatch Institute or just the adventure with MYA or both!
Lead scientist Frank Paladino, Professor of Biology, Indiana-Purdue University, has a research team to help gain a better understanding of the ecology of endangered turtles that nest on the beaches of Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas. These beaches host the largest remaining population of leatherback turtles in the Eastern Pacific as well as important populations of olive ridley and East Pacific green turtles. (pics below by Jeff Morey)
The work will consist of...
Observing and monitor nesting leatherbacks. Those working on the beach at night will visit each nesting leatherback to take measurements and record any unusual markings or injuries—in other words, you’ll get as close as a person can to these majestic animals.
Release hatchlings in the ocean. When babies start to emerge from the eggs in the hatchery, our team will take the tiny turtles down to the water's edge and release them into the wild.
Survey the beach. During the day, our team will count sea turtle nests on the beach, take nest temperatures, and look for signs of erosion that could put nests in danger.
Accommodations are at the Goldring Marine Biology Field Station perched at the edge of the beach. Team MYA will share a bedroom with bunk beds. We'll have plenty of space to lounge at the pool or in the hammock. Typical tasty Costa Rican breakfasts and dinners of beans will be served up as well as ingredients for simple delicious lunches.
Adventurers can create an expedition fund through Earthwatch to receive tax-deductible donations to cover volunteering costs ($2,845 accommodations & food are included; flight is not included) or use another contribution platform such as GoFundMe. If you can’t commit but are interested in supporting endangered sea turtles, make a donation to support MYA founder, Holly, in her volunteer work.
The former Principal Investigator for this project, Nathan Robinson, is the scientist seen removing a straw from a turtle’s nostril in what is considered to be the viral video responsible for straw bans! More needs to be done in terms reducing the plastic threat in oceans but banning straws is a good place to start. Tamarindo, across the way from Playa Grande, could do with more education in both light reduction and reducing their disposables that end up in the waters that these turtles return to every year to lay down their future generations. The risks are many for turtles, humans can do more to help their plight by refusing plastic and considering options other than convenience.
Nature is abundant in this peaceful place - the Costa Rican sunsets are gorgeous, like none other! Volunteers will have some time to relax on the beach, explore, and soak in the beauty. There will be time for wildlife watching, howler monkey families reside there, anteaters, crocs in the slower waterways, and more!
Post-research expedition, MYA will adventure to Nuevo Arenal for four blissful nights (January 17-21) of yoga, nature immersions (finding a sloth or two!), excursions, rainforest rambling, stargazing, birding (toucans visit the house), and delicious food!
Taylor and Katie Ashley will be the dynamic duo, our cooks, making magic in the kitchen! Adventurers will enjoy vegetarian dinners and breakfasts with local ingredients with a nod to local tico flavors. Fresh fruits and veggies - yum! Lunches will be on the go and up to adventurers but there will be a few delicious leftovers no doubt.
Our home is going to be unbelievable! Located in the rainforest rather than a gated community, surrounded by nature, a 500 hundred acre preserve to the east and thousand acres of protected rainforest encompassing Tenorio National park to the North and West. A spot of peace and privacy with access to amazing excursions both in the forest and on the lake.
The entire property is a showcase of Costa Rican art, decorative tile, stone and craft work. Six beautifully appointed bedrooms featuring artwork, hand carved beds and doors with bathrooms en suite, and two decorative fireplaces are all for MYA. The master suite bathroom features a hot tub built for two (Holly promises to share!). There’s a chef’s kitchen, library/living room area, dining area, and a unique indoor pool with jacuzzi. We can play billiards and ping pong - lounging areas, an inversion table, and a massage table are also at our disposal.

Adventurers will gather on Friday at the resort, arrival time is flexible, and settle into our rooms. Please keep in mind, that the rooms will be shared, the beds don’t have to be! We can hit the pool (with waterslide!) and the hot tub to shake off the drive and head off to the sweet little seaside town on historic Water Street to watch the sunset. Perhaps we’ll find some lovely yoga postures to mix into the experience. There’s a quaint stroll along the rocks if the tide is right. MYA will bring along a tasty vegetarian soup for dinner that we’ll enjoy back at the Algonquin.
Saturday will be a big exploration day. So many sites! We’ll head to Indian Point, the sacred grounds of the Passamaquoddy Nation, located at the tip of the peninsula in St. Andrews. Adventurers will get take in marine life in a diverse inter-tidal zone. Nearby is Pagan Point Nature Preserve with coastal spruce forest and salt marsh. After a break for lunch, MYA will provide yummy eats, adventurers will hike Chamcook Mountain, an easy hike with splendid views from the top.
We’ll need some relaxing in the hot tub, poolside yoga, and happy hour at the MYA suite post hiking. As a group we can decide where we’d like to eat dinner, keeping in mind that this meal is not included in the adventure cost. Saturday night, get ready, we’re going to get in on the ghost tour led by a resort staff member, they spin great stories! The Algonquin opened in 1889, there’s plenty of history there and a few spirits as well.
Sunday funday we’re gonna get the tides just right for Ministers Island Trails, a 500 acre island only accessible at low tide. There we’ll explore fields, forest, and shoreline, oh la la! Before heading home, adventurers may want to check out Caughey-Taylor Nature Preserve with some dramatic cliffs on the way to the peak of Chickahominy Mountain.
