Bald Mountain Sunset Hike

Join MYA on a Sunday evening (Memorial Day weekend) to hike up Bald Mountain enjoying spectacular views along the way to the summit. We’ll get in a yoga practice, eat yummy vegetarian snacks, and watch a fabulous sunset…

There is quite an incline right from the get-go but no worries we’ll go slow turning around to take in the view and making plenty of stops to listen to birds and trilling frogs. After about forty-five minutes we’ll be at the summit to explore some of the sweetness that surrounds us both nearby and off in the distance.

Adventurers will get an exceptional dose of nature therapy on a five day adventurous retreat on the legendary Allagash River. From birds to mammals, the wildlife on the waterway will be extraordinary…

The Allagash Wilderness Waterway is Maine’s best-known canoe trip and has attracted paddlers for more than a century. Henry David Thoreau ventured into this region more than 150 years ago by traveling into the Allagash via the Mud Pond Carry from the West Penobscot watershed. Adventurers will be on one of the few eastern rivers that can be paddled for a week without coming into contact with modern civilization. The Allagash is Maine’s only designated Wild and Scenic River endowed with easy flowing river sections and moderate whitewater on Chase Stream Rapids.

Canoe the Wild is our highly recommended professional guide service with exceptional Registered Maine Guides. Big thanks to them for letting me use their pics to highlight this adventure!

The Allagash trip is suitable for any level of ability, from novice to advanced paddler - adventurers will receive excellent instruction in the most efficient handling of your canoe in varied water conditions. Beginners will learn fundamentals and the more experienced paddlers will learn to polish their skills. Plenty of time will be allotted for preparing to paddle the river.

All levels of yogis are welcome, no experience, no worries. Daily yoga and meditation practices will be at a level attainable for everyone, we’ll be breathing in the beauty and stretching out our paddling efforts. Campsites are primitive and beautiful, we’ll have plenty of time for relaxing, swimming, and exploring. Being outside at night is always exciting with lots of stargazing and storytelling.

The best part is that the adventure is all inclusive - yessss! All adventurers have to do is show up with their sleeping bag and maybe some clothes :)

Cost: $1,300. Adventurers can choose to either pay in full or put down a deposit to hold their spot. Please choose to add to cart below or payment is available via VENMO or a good ol’ check in the mail.

Play in the Snow: Quarry Road Trails Adventure

Join MYA for a super fun adventure that moves from daylight to night on the Quarry Road Trails in Waterville!

IMG_1543.jpg

Our adventure begins with a beautiful snowshoe hike along the river. We’ll enjoy nature, taking in the forest, the snow, the water, and the wildlife we spot along the way. Our hike will be at a slow pace, beginner snowshoe adventurers are welcome! Let’s hope for a good storm to powder up the trails but enough open water so we can see the ducks.

Next up we’ll get in some snowga (yoga in the snow with snowshoes) to stretch out our hiking legs and get in a few laughs whilst balancing.

Following all of that work comes food! MYA will bring along a crockpot of vegetarian soup and some other yummies to eat.

If you’re spent and ready to watch the sunset and go, that’s up to you but if you’re into it … we’re strapping on cross-country skis and hopping on the lit up trails for the nighttime skiing. The trails are so nicely groomed for both traditional and skate skiing. If you’re not a skier, there are more snowshoe trails if that’s more your speed :)

If you don’t have snowshoes or skis that are options that MYA can hook you up with.

Cost: $45. To register, please choose to add to cart below or payment is available via VENMO or a good ol’ check in the mail :)

Pop-Up Adventure: Full Moon Hike

Join MYA on a chilly December eve for a hike up Chick Hill to watch the full moon rise, to move our bodies under it’s light and to celebrate the coming of a new year!

D127385C-926E-4942-A554-BF4AAB2CF5B4.jpg

Adventurers will meet up at the trailhead for Chick Hill/Peaked Mountain in Clifton for some outdoor fun. Why so early in the day? The moonrise is at 3:30pm and the sunset is at 4pm :)

Bundle up in your best outdoor gear with good grippy hiking boots, bring your headlamp and we’ll hike to the summit. For the easiest path up, we’ll take the Big Chick trail, a wide path that opens to expansive viewing from huge slabs of rock. The trail is easy to moderate, just short of three miles round trip.

MYA will keep adventurers warm with a yoga flow and a stash of hot chocolate and yummy vegetarian soup. The stars and the moon should be in full effect with the Cold Moon (oh so aptly named!) putting on a spectacular rise. MYA has an awesome app that will help figure out the constellations as they appear in the night sky.

We’ll shout out a big goodbye of 2020 as we set our sights on the best intentions for 2021. Don’t miss out on this last minute gathering to check out a full moon under clear and crisp skies!
