Canceled: Outdoorsy Soaking & Skiing Santas Adventure

Sadness, had to cancel this adventure but hoping to get to the wonderful adventure house in Bethel sometime in the future :)

MYA is headed to Western Maine for some wicked fun, we’ll get in lots of outside time, relaxation in the hot tub, yoga, yummy eats, and skiing in your best Santa outfit! If we get some early snow (fingers crossed!), we’ll partake in snowtastic activities of snowga and cross-country skiing; if not, we can enjoy the hiking in the area which is fabulous. The final frolic will be downhill skiing at Sunday River if you’re up for it…

Friday afternoon/evening arrival time is flexible, there will be a happy hour and MYA will be offering up yummy vegetarian soup and more whenever the time is right. If you need to come late, no worries, we’ll feed you :) Adventurers have a private home to lounge and relax in; the 1870 farm home is in the heart of downtown Bethel with 4 bedrooms that sleep 12 comfortably with 2 bathrooms. A fav amenity is the hot tub which adventurers can indulge in whenever they like.

We can experience all that the sweet small town has to offer just minutes away from the home. We’ll be close to Gould Academy which makes for a very nice, walkable neighborhood with many surrounding farm-style residences; our prime location is very close to the local grocery store and numerous delightful restaurants.

Once we get closer and know what the weather holds, adventurers can decide to bring along your cross-country skis (definitely downhill skis or a snowboard) or snowshoes and get on the trails about a 15 minute walk away. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in Bethel is lovely, the fat biking trails may be groomed as well. Adventurers can even pop over to Carter’s Cross-Country Ski Center for more beautiful trails. If you need gear, please let MYA know. Don’t forget your sense of humor, your best snowsuit, and your best Santa suit!

After a yoga practice, a delicious breakfast, and outdoors activities on Saturday, folks can head into town for some free time or hang in the hot tub or cozy up on the couch. MYA will be handling a second vegetarian dinner in the evening.

Sundayfunday we’ll get up early for breakfast and yoga, and head out to Sunday River in Newry, just a ten minute drive. In full Santa attire (red Santa hat with white pompom, red Santa jacket, red Santa pants and Santa beard), we will celebrate the arrival of winter and the upcoming holiday season with more than 250 Santas cruising down to South Ridge! All money raised benefits the River Fund, a non-profit organization that supports youth education and recreation in the Bethel area. MYA will register adventurers ahead of time (open Nov 28th so please be sure to register for this adventure well in advance).

Adventurers will be sure to show up at the scheduled photo shoot at 11am, slopeside at South Ridge all dressed up. After the photo shoot, we will all go up South Ridge Express and then ski down Broadway, a beginner-friendly green trail. After the parade down Broadway, your ticket can get validated for the rest of the day and will receive an additional lift ticket valid until Christmas Eve. Super excited, MYA has always wanted to get in on the Santa Sunday!

Don’t miss out on this crazy fun, yummy, relaxing weekend in beautiful Bethel and beyond. If you’d like to come but want to opt out of the downhill Santa portion, no worries, there will be lots of quality adventuring time without it and you can always watch Santas coming down the mountain from the bottom :)

Cost: $400, includes two nights accommodations, two vegetarian dinners & breakfasts, happy hour, daily yoga, snowga, hot tubbing, night strolling, Santa Sunday, good vibes, great company

To register, please choose to add to cart below or payment is available via VENMO (@maineyogaadventures_) or a good ol’ check in the mail :)

From birds to mammals, the wildlife on the waterway will be extraordinary…

The Allagash Wilderness Waterway is Maine’s best-known canoe trip and has attracted paddlers for more than a century. Henry David Thoreau ventured into this region more than 150 years ago by traveling into the Allagash via the Mud Pond Carry from the West Penobscot watershed. Adventurers will be on one of the few eastern rivers that can be paddled for a week without coming into contact with modern civilization. The Allagash is Maine’s only designated Wild and Scenic River endowed with easy flowing river sections and moderate whitewater on Chase Stream Rapids.

Daily yoga and meditation practices will be at a level attainable for everyone, we’ll be breathing in the beauty and stretching out our paddling efforts. Campsites are primitive and beautiful, we’ll have plenty of time for relaxing, swimming, and exploring. Being outside at night is always exciting with lots of stargazing and storytelling.

Whitewater & Moxie Adventure

  • Magic Falls Rafting Company (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join MYA to take on some crazy rapids whitewater rafting on the Dead River! Adventurers will stay overnight at an on-site inn reserved just for our crew where we’ll get in plenty of yoga and vegetarian food. On Sundayfunday we’ll visit Moxie Falls, one of Maine’s highest waterfalls with a near 100 ft drop!

A couple seasons ago we had a blast whitewater rafting the Kennebec River on a pretty mild run with a little zing here & there. This season we’re leveling up and getting some more excitement with the Dead…

Our guides will be from Magic Falls Rafting Company, a Maine family-owned company that have brought the magic for 32 years and counting. They describe the Dead River as the best wild whitewater adventure in New England - adventurers will cascade down 15 miles of almost continuous class II-V whitewater, in rapids like Spencer Rips, Elephant Rock, the Mine Field and the infamous Poplar Falls, the longest continuous rapid in Maine. This ride is going to be exhilarating - you’ll be signing yourself up for some very therapeutic screaming!

Post-whitewater, adventurers will have perfect placement along the banks of the Dead River for exiting rafts, chowing down, and our overnight stay. We’ll have chill out time as we enjoy a bbq provided by Magic Falls (w/ vegetarian options!) and check out a sweet slideshow of our escapades. Then we don’t have to go far for relaxation time on our deck, yoga outside and more yummy food; we’re staying at the inn located right on the property.

raftinginn.jpg

Adventurers will spread out into the old farmhouse that has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, a living room and of course the back deck and yard. MYA is hoping for some good stargazing in the nighttime and birding in the morning!

As we move on from our stay with Magic Falls, we’ve got some more magic falls coming our way with Moxie Falls located less than a ten minute drive from our site. Adventurers will hike a moderate out and back trail that is just two miles round trip.

moxiefalls.jpg

We’ll encounter a series of wooden stairs and boardwalks providing access over the rugged terrain surrounding the falls. There are several wooden observation platforms providing a number of different looks at Moxie Stream's plunges.

We’ll take our time enjoying the scenery and playing in the falls as much as we can - let’s hope for fantastic weather so we can linger and appreciate the robust natural landscape.

MYA is known for wicked water playtime like our fun in Embden…

After snacking and messing about at the falls we may want to stop in at the Kennebec Brewery for Maine craft beer, a tour and maybe more eats! This may also be the perfect spot for beerga :)

Don’t miss out on an awesomely epic adventure in The Forks of Maine with the perfect combo of thrill & chill!

Cost: $225 includes whitewater rafting, bbq, vegetarian dinner, breakfast & snacks, overnight accommodations, outdoor yoga, and positive energy…

To register, please choose to add to cart below or payment is available via VENMO or a good ol’ check in the mail.

Skiing & Snowga: Adventuring to The County

MYA is headed up to northern Maine, aka the county, for a fabulous weekend of snowshoeing, snowga, skiing both ways, yummy vegetarian food, and more…

This adventure can be split up - adventurers can decide to come on Saturday or Sunday or can choose the full weekend (the whole shebang!). Both days we’ll be enjoying yoga in the snow, snowshoeing, and skiing! We had such a great time playing outside in the snow last year, MYA couldn’t resist a return to the county for more fun!

For Saturday’s skiing pleasure, we’ll hit Big Rock Mountain for a downhill experience in Mars Hill. MYA is happy to support a small Maine local ski establishment - the staff is great and the trails are awesome. We really had a blast on the mountain last season and are hoping for another great time.

MYA will cover lift tickets for adventurers that are into it. If you’re a beginner, no worries, it’s a great spot to learn or to get ski legs back that haven’t been on a mountain in years. Please know if you’d like to adventure without going downhill, that’s no problem, tubing is an option as well :)

Following alpine fabulousness, we’ll head to Aroostook State Park for hot chocolate, yummy eats and snowga! Adventurers can also decide to hit the trails with snowshoes or cross-country skis for a quickie excursion before either heading home or heading to downtown Presque Isle. MYA will check in to the charming Northeastland Hotel, set apart from chain hotels with its vibrant and rich history. Adventurers will be in their own private rooms with all covid protocols in place.

For Sunday’s adventuring, we’ll head to the Nordic Heritage Center, about 20 minutes away from downtown Presque Isle. The NHC, a jewel in the crown of Maine, embodies the best of Aroostook County: a place of incomparable beauty…

nordic3.jpg

The center offers up snowshoe and cross-country ski rentals. If you have your own skis and snowshoes, bring them along and if you want to try fat bikes on the trails, that’s another fun way to indulge in the snow. You can absolutely choose the activity that you’re most comfortable with, just being outside in nature should bring on therapeutic goodness.

And, of course we’ll get in some snowga! MYA really enjoyed NHC last season, the trails were heavenly, so nicely maintained. This is another wonderful organization that MYA is proud to support and will offer up a portion of the adventure proceeds to their cause.

Don’t miss out on a fantastic weekend adventure opting outside in a beautiful place! Bring all of your wintertime gear and we’ll make some magic happen…

Cost: $100/daylong adventure w/ skiing and/or snowshoeing, snowga, vegetarian food, good vibes

$300/whole shebang (including everything above + accommodations); $500/whole shebang for two

Our adventure will begin on Sears Island not far from the inn. Depending on the weather, adventurers can decide if they’d like to tackle it on plus-tire bikes or fat bikes (MYA can hook you up with a rental) or hiking or a bit of both.

Sears Island is one of the largest undeveloped islands on the Eastern Seaboard, rich in wild beauty with dazzling views of the water. There are sandy and cobbled beaches, dunes, rugged cliffs and ledges, diverse forests and wetlands, streams and gullies, abundant plants and animals, and a rich cultural heritage dating back thousands of years.

Holly and her family have made many visits in the summertime and she’s looking forward to a wintertime experience :)

Adventurers will enjoy hot chocolate and snacks post island playtime then head to beautiful Belfast for a visit along pathways and the footbridge for some yoga stretches. Before leaving town we’ll stroll along the harbor pausing for a beverage at a fav local watering hole, the Marshall Wharf Brewing Company.

Ahhhh then the anticipation will be eased as we enter Captain Nickels Inn surrounded by warmth, luxury and historical splendor. Here we will get cozy in our private rooms and deeply relax (or prance happily around the grounds). All of the rooms have their own unique design and special sweetness based upon the cities that are their namesakes.

Adventurers will enjoy a vegetarian dinner lovingly prepared by MYA and followed up by plenty of entertaining evening options of cocktail sipping & storytelling, stargazing, snowga, listening to the sea, playing cards/board games, reading by the fire…

The morning will bring a delicious breakfast served up by the extraordinary innkeepers, a dynamic duo, a mother daughter team. Adventurers will be fully prepped for a magical Sundayfunday. Our adventure will continue onwards to Camden Hills State Park for a winter hike, or bike or ski whatever the group fancies; whatever the weather is serving up will help us decide :) Close by is Moose Point State Park which is also a great stand by for wintertime fun. Again, the more snow, the better as far as MYA is concerned!

Don’t miss out - there’s limited space on this fabulous inn adventure jam-packed with wintertime fun!

Cost: $300/solo adventurer; $500/couple adventuring

Tumbledown Mtn Adventure: Hiking, Beer & Alpacas

Join MYA for a multi-layered adventure as we hike Tumbledown Mountain, visit a beer garden and alpacas, and of course get in some yoga practices and eat yummy food. We may even get in some kayaking and/or canoeing…

Adventurers will meet at the trailhead for Tumbledown Mountain in Franklin. We’ll head up to the magnificent summit and go for a quick dip in the pond :) No worries about the pace of the hike, we will take our time but please know that this is a moderate to advanced hike and there will be plenty of rock scrambling both up and down the mountain. We’ll be hiking on both the Brook Trail and Parker Ridge Trail.

Post-hike adventurers can settle into their rooms at the Wilson Lake Inn and take a much deserved break. We’ll enjoy the lovely grounds and sweet views of Wilson Lake with the mountains in the distance. This may be the perfect time to get in a gentle outdoor yoga practice, lots of stretching, lots of deep breathing. If adventurers are up for it before eating a delish vegetarian dinner presented by MYA (hopefully the weather will be cooperative and we can dine outdoors), we’ll get out on the water for paddling fun. The sunset is gorgeous on the lake and the stars may be in view for nighttime adventuring.

The adventure continues on Sunday funday as we join the noon o’clock or so lunchtime at The Farmhouse Beer Garden in Farmington. MYA is happy to buy adventurers a beverage :) After imbibing, chit chatting and eats we’ll visit the Just Alpacas Farm which happens to be extremely close to the beer garden. We’ll get a chance to meet the alpacas and enjoy some farm animal therapy. Alpaca feeding and petting is definitely good for the soul!

Get in some serious weekend adventure fun in a beautiful part of Maine connecting to the outdoors and getting in some sweet unplugged time together.

To register for this adventure, choose to add to cart below or payment is available via VENMO or a good ol’ check in the mail :)

Cost is based upon a single adventurer or couple, there are both king beds and queen beds available.
